Why is this so?
My mind seemed to be shrouded in fog, and I gradually became unable to think. I could only watch it all instinctively, being both a witness and a bystander.

However, the three people at the table other than her seemed to be having a great time, chatting happily about everything.

She couldn't keep up with the topic for a while and just lowered her head to eat in silence.

The person next to her picked out her favorite bamboo shoots and put them on the plate in front of her.

"My father's cooking skills are comparable to those of a five-star chef. I should learn more from you." After saying this without blushing or beating his heart, Di Lie received unanimous praise from the parents opposite him.

The man said with relief, "If Ye Ye can find someone she can trust, I will be relieved in the future."

The woman also said enviously, "My son-in-law is not only good-looking and capable, but he also dotes on Ye Ye so much. My Ye Ye is indeed a lucky child."

Ai Moye's face was inexplicably hot, and she lowered her head and said timidly, "Dad, Mom, stop praising him blindly."

My parents still teased me constantly, but they were also very pleased.

After dinner, Di Lie washed the dishes skillfully.

Ai Moye was standing nearby, her face stained by the splashing detergent foam.

Her mind was still in a daze. She felt like something was wrong, but she didn't know what was wrong.

Looking up at Di Lie's profile, she called out uncertainly, "Uncle Di?"

"Hmm?" Di Lie took off his apron, then reached out and scraped the foam off her face.

Ai Moye stared at him blankly, "But, you're not?"

What is it not?
I racked my brains but couldn't figure out what was wrong with this person.

She half remembered it and looked down at her belly again.

It was very flat, as if nothing had happened.

Di Lie smiled, took her hand and left the kitchen.

The temperature of the palm of her hand was very cold. At that moment, Ai Moye seemed to be touched by her heartstrings, and something in her mind was shattered.

She showed Di Lie around her home.

I looked at her photo albums from birth to high school, and introduced her friends and classmates. I went to see the potted plants on the balcony, which were her favorite flowers.

However, someone seemed to be more interested in her studies and dug out her failed test papers from the deepest part of the bookshelf, in response to which she beat and kicked him mercilessly.

Then, we watched a family movie together and fell asleep in each other’s arms.

Time flies by in the blink of an eye.

Every day was peaceful. They would go shopping, buy groceries, and go on dates. They were like an ordinary couple, leading a simple and stable life.

It's another evening and the sun is about to set.

She sat in the hanging chair and looked at the gorgeous sunset clouds in the distance.

It was like the end of the world was coming. Looking down, the whole city was dead silent, without a trace of life.

Di Lie brought over a glass of juice and placed it on the small coffee table next to her.

She made some room for Di Lie to sit down.

"I've always wanted to show you the era I live in," she said softly.

Di Lie's profile looked exceptionally cold and perfect in the afterglow of the setting sun, yet it was also a contradiction that was incompatible with this world.

"I saw it. It was beautiful and peaceful." After a pause, Di Lie continued, "So, I can understand why you don't want to go back."

Ai Moye lowered her head and clenched her hands.

Di Lie moved closer, held the back of her head with one hand, and kissed her eyebrows.

"But Ai Moye, this is not your era."

Ai Moye heard what her parents were talking about in the study. It seemed that her birthday was coming up and they were discussing how to hold a birthday party.

"But I'm very happy."

Even though she knew it was not true, she could see the three people she wanted to see most here.

Di Lie did not urge her, but patiently pressed her neck, his slightly calloused fingertips gently stroking her smooth skin. He had a light cedar scent, and Ai Moye had been in his arms countless times, as if she was indulging in an afternoon when the snow had melted in winter, cold and chilly, yet safe and steady.

"Ye Ye," Di Lie kissed her forehead and whispered, "Don't be tempted."

"But it was you who seduced me." Ai Moye heard her parents' voices again and tears fell uncontrollably.

Since Abebe was born, she has hardly cried again.

I don’t know if it’s because she feels that as a mother she should be strong, or if the help from those around her is enough to overcome all the challenges and allow her to move forward courageously.

But once she gets close to this person, she becomes very weak. She is still the same flustered and reckless girl.

The thin lips kissed the falling tears, and the soft touch made Ai Moye's heart throb.

She almost cried and said, "If I leave here, I will never see you again, right?"

Even though I begged and prayed so hard, they were never seen even in my dreams.

The person she loves most in this world, the person she can't let go of, but the person she will never see.

The person in his arms was crying so hard that she almost died. Di Lie could only hug her tighter and gently patted Ai Moye's back with his cold palm.

"I promise you," he said with difficulty, "we will meet again."

Ai Moye's eyes were blurred with tears, but she couldn't believe these words.

"fraud!"

"I will come back to you." Di Lie swore again, "Maybe it will take some time, but maybe in the near future, I will fulfill my promise."

Ai Moye said sadly, "How are you going to come back? No one can find you, even the whole country can't find your trace."

It's another lie, he won't come back.

Just like before, he only gave her such a perfunctory and regretful farewell before rushing to his death, without even giving her a last look.

The person who should be hated and despised is now deceiving her.

However, she really couldn't stay here any longer.

That world also contains her treasures.

Standing up, Ai Moye wiped away her tears and tried to speak in a calm tone.

"Dad, Mom, I'm out."

Her parents came out of the room but didn't come closer. They just stood in the shadow on the other side of the sunset, looking at her with a smile.

"Be careful on the road." The woman's eyes were full of care and love.

The man also waved at her, put his arm around the woman, and signaled her to go with peace of mind.

She took one last deep look at the two of them and walked forward.

Beyond the balcony is the abyss.

Di Lie sat in the hanging chair and looked at her with a smile.

Ai Moye opened her arms and felt the breath of the strong wind.

"Uncle Di, we agreed that at least you would come back to me."

"Of course." Di Lie promised solemnly.

Ai Moye closed her eyes and jumped.

The roars of wild beasts drowned out the sharp whistling sounds, and the foggy world gradually became clear.

Ai Moye opened her eyes and saw in front of her a giant plant like a carnivorous plant, which had torn the entire folding house apart and was wreaking havoc with its claws and fangs.

Its head was like a swaggering sunflower, with a black abyss in the middle, from which a scarlet, rotten tongue stretched out, almost sucking her in and swallowing her.

Dada transformed into a huge beast, biting the lower half of the thing tightly, and tearing its leaves apart with her sharp claws.

Ai Moye showed no fear and just said softly, "It's a beautiful dream, thank you."

The next moment, the Piranha Plant swelled and trembled rapidly, and let out a sharp roar, but it exploded from the root and quickly turned into a green light spot and disappeared into the air. (End of this chapter)
