Chapter 897 Biogas Pool

Professor Liu's piglets are ready and can be delivered at any time.

But they don't have a suitable pig farm yet.

At the morning meeting, the team leader also emphasized this matter.

Now that spring plowing has just finished, the work in the fields is not so busy.

So in the next few days, the production team’s main task was to build the pig farm.

After the meeting, the team leader led the members to the location they had selected yesterday and began to enclose the land, level the ground, and lay the foundation.

Zhou Ziwen also has his own tasks.

He needs to design the layout of the pig farm. Only after the plan is in place can the production team start construction.

After the meeting, Zhou Ziwen took a quick tour around the mushroom cultivation base, then returned home and began to design the layout of the pig farm.

Zhou Ziwen sat at the table, spread out the paper, took a pencil, and began to draw the layout of the pig farm based on the terrain and environmental conditions he had observed on site.

He first planned out different breeding areas, dividing them into piglet areas, fattening areas, etc. according to the different growth stages of Landrace pigs.

The piglet area is close to the entrance of the pig farm, which is convenient for managing and caring for newborn piglets. The environment here should be kept warm, dry and well ventilated.

The fattening area is located inside the pig farm and has more spacious space to meet the needs of Landrace pigs for activity space during their growth.

In designing the pig sty, he took full account of the habits of the Landrace pigs, and each pigsty was designed to be spacious enough to ensure that the pigs could move freely.

At the same time, the height of the pigsty walls is moderate, which can prevent the pigs from escaping and make it easier for the breeders to observe the pigs.

Inside the pigpen, special troughs and waterers are set up to ensure that pigs can easily obtain food and water.

Ventilation and insulation facilities are also areas that Zhou Ziwen focuses on.

He designed vents on the roof and walls of the pig farm that can be adjusted according to different seasons and weather conditions.

In winter, some of the vents can be closed to maintain the temperature in the pig farm; in summer, they can be fully opened to enhance ventilation and lower the temperature.

In order to better keep warm, he also designed some insulation layers on the floor and walls of the pigsty, using some locally easily available materials such as hay and straw.

The drainage system is also crucial. Zhou Ziwen further refined the drainage design inside the pig farm based on the ditch conditions on site.

He planned out the main drainage pipes and branch drainage pipes, and led the sewage and rainwater in the pigpen into the external ditches through the drainage pipes, and then discharged them into the nearby river.

This ensures that the interior of the pig farm remains dry and avoids stagnant water that could affect the health of the pigs.

In addition to the design of the breeding area and infrastructure, Zhou Ziwen also took into account the staff's activity area and material storage area.

He planned a rest area and office area for the staff on one side of the pig farm, which is equipped with tables, chairs, lockers and other facilities to facilitate the staff to rest and store tools.

On the other side, a material storage area is designed for storing feed, veterinary drugs, vaccines and other materials.

In addition, he also designed a septic tank. Considering the smell problem, he designed the septic tank to be a closed type.

When designing this, he also thought that the septic tank could be converted into a biogas tank.

Biogas digesters ferment organic waste such as pig manure to produce biogas, a clean, renewable energy source that can be used for a variety of purposes.

In the future, members can use biogas to boil water and cook, replacing traditional firewood or coal, which is both convenient and environmentally friendly.

In addition, biogas can be used to generate electricity.

Of course, since Professor Liu only provided fifty piglets, the amount of biogas produced must not be much.

But even so, it can solve some of the electricity and gas problems.

However, Zhou Ziwen doesn't quite understand the design of biogas.

If you want to make biogas well, you need to have the skills to do it.

For the time being, Zhou Ziwen just reserved some space and waited for him to find relevant books on this subject before he could start studying.

According to Zhou Ziwen's plan, he was going to build a farm capable of raising 500 pigs.

Zhou Ziwen completed all the design details on the planning map. He estimated the area of the entire pig farm, including the pig pens, feed storage areas, office rest areas, drainage systems, and biogas digesters, which would require a total of about three acres of land.

Professor Liu has only provided fifty piglets for the time being.

Once the pig farm here is built, it will be more than enough to raise fifty pigs.

After completing the design drawing, Zhou Ziwen did not delay and immediately went out to find the team leader and Wu Dagang who were busy on the east side of the village.

"Ziwen, how is it going? Have you finished the drawings?" Wu Dagang asked with concern.

Zhou Ziwen smiled and nodded, took out a carefully drawn design from his arms, and carefully unfolded it for the captain and Wu Dagang to see.

"Uncle Wu, Captain, look, this is the layout of the pig farm I designed." Zhou Ziwen said as he pointed to the various areas on the drawing and explained.

"This is the piglet area. I plan to build it with materials with good thermal insulation properties to ensure that the piglets can grow up in a warm and comfortable environment." Zhou Ziwen said, pointing to an area on the drawing.

"This is the fattening area. I designed the space to be relatively large to ensure that every pig has enough space to move around, which is conducive to their growth," he continued.

The captain and Wu Dagang nodded repeatedly after hearing this. They were very satisfied with Zhou Ziwen's design.

"Ziwen, you're so thoughtful that you even took into account the space for the pigs to move around." The captain said approvingly.

"There are also ventilation and insulation facilities here," Zhou Ziwen continued. "In winter, some vents can be closed to keep warm, and in summer, all can be opened to enhance ventilation. In addition, the ground and walls are designed with insulation layers using materials such as hay and straw, which can keep warm and use local materials."

Wu Dagang looked at the blueprint carefully, nodded and praised: "Okay, okay, Ziwen, I trust you to do the job."

Zhou Ziwen gained more confidence after receiving their affirmation. He continued, "I also designed a material storage area and a rest area for staff, so that the staff can have a place to rest after work."

"As for the septic tank, I plan to transform it into a biogas tank in the future. This way we can not only solve the problem of pig manure, but also provide clean energy for the village." Zhou Ziwen said, pointing to the septic tank area on the drawing.

"Biogas tank? What is this?" Wu Dagang and the team leader looked at each other and found that they couldn't understand what Zhou Ziwen was talking about again.

Zhou Ziwen saw the doubts of Wu Dagang and the captain, and he explained with a smile:
"A biogas digester is a special facility that uses organic waste, such as pig manure, to produce biogas through anaerobic fermentation. This biogas can be used as fuel, which is both environmentally friendly and energy-saving."

He further explained: "To put it simply, we can put the pig manure into the biogas digester. After a period of fermentation, it can produce combustible gas. We can use this gas to boil water, cook, and even generate electricity."
