Rebirth of top photographers

Chapter 250 The selection begins!

Chapter 250 The selection begins!
"Judges, please enter your respective rooms and hand over your mobile phones and computers to the staff."

Under the arrangement of Erikson's assistant, the eight judges walked into their own rooms.

Ryan looked at the albums, bottles of water and snacks that had been placed on the table, and twitched his lips: "It looks really tiring."

The organizing committee required them to complete the selection within one day, so everyone had a very arduous task today. They had to watch all the albums in their entirety and then give corresponding evaluations and scores.

The first photo album in front of everyone is the work "Rainbow" by the veteran photographer of Neon Country, Iwama Koichi.

Ryan sat on a chair and opened the album. The first photo that caught his eye was the huge Tokyo night sky, which was Tokyo shrouded in colorful lights.

Every street and every building is lit up, forming a magnificent pattern.

"Wow, great color."

Ryan continued to turn the pages. The perspectives of this album range from large to small to local, and use many different angles, such as the angle from which humans observe the streets, and the angle from which animals observe the city.

At the same time, the colorful colors, wrapped in the bright red that Iwama is best at, make the entire city look very rouge-like.

It's just that the expression was too obvious, so Ryan didn't put much effort into interpreting it.

"It looks a bit like "The Crow"!" After reading the entire book, he suddenly realized where the inexplicable familiarity in his heart came from.

Although "The Crow" is in black and white, "The Rainbow" is in color.

But the general creative ideas tend to be the same.

Ryan thought for a moment, and then wrote down his thoughts on the work on paper.

Finally, the score sheet came out and scored 8 points.

The full score is 10 points. Although this work is not as stunning as "The Crow", it is still very innovative, and the composition angle and content are also very in line with current preferences.

It's definitely a good photo album.

Then Ryan handed the photo album to the staff at the door.

Then the waiting began, because each album had to be handed to him by the staff, and there were no other albums in the room.

This will undoubtedly make the entire selection process seem very depressing, making you feel like you are back in the examination room.

It was with this in mind that Ryan decided not to participate next year.

"Dong dong dong." There was a knock on the door, and Ryan opened the door and took the second album.

Looking at the cover, the pale yellow landscape, thick fog, and small crowds intertwine to form a unique photo with Chinese style. Above it is the Chinese title: Beiliu Huohuo.

"It's Chen's work." Ryan suddenly became interested. He has been paying close attention to Chen Pingsheng's movements this year, ranging from his works in the film industry to photo albums and exhibitions.

No photographer has ever given him such an obsessive experience, because Chen Pingsheng's works always have a sense of freshness, and the inspiration seems to come from another planet. Whenever he releases a photo album, everyone will guess what style he will shoot this time. .

After all, each of his albums is completely different.

"Crow" is a black and white animal, "Perspective Museum" is a black and white history, "Decisive Moment" is a color teaching, and "Beiliu Huohuo" is a Chinese classic.

It seems that he has recently published a new work called "In Memory of Vivian".

This photo album has just been published, and Ryan hasn’t read it yet, so he doesn’t know whether it’s good or bad.

Even the selection will only be on next year's list.

But this didn't stop him from starting to look forward to it, because he could already imagine that this work would be another album with a new perspective.

With this thought in mind, Ryan opened "Beiliu Huohuo" and remained silent for a long time.

"So beautiful."

John sighed with emotion as he chewed snacks and flipped through the photo album. The beauty of the artistic conception in each picture made him hold his breath involuntarily. "This is amazing. I have never thought of shooting with this color." John seemed to have opened the door to a new world, admiring the faint sadness and hazy beauty condensed by yellow in the photos.

He thought of "The Crow" again, it was also so amazing, and the technique was completely unprecedented.

Although in terms of content, "Beiliu Huohuo" focuses more on aesthetics, "The Crow" is even better.

But being able to bring a new approach to the photography world is already a great thing.

So John wrote a high score on the score sheet without hesitation.

"8 points."

The sound of the ballpoint pen rubbing against the paper suddenly stopped. Brad rated "Beiliu Huohuo" one point lower than "Rainbow" because he did not have a strong perception of the beauty of China. After reading it, he just felt that this This work seems a bit thin.

Because all the photos were taken in the Yellow River Basin, and the sceneries are roughly the same, reading this photo album is more like reading a picture album.

Brad thought this was great.

But "Rainbow" brought him more sensory stimulation and thinking about the city's content.

So Brad liked "Rainbow" a little more.

After reading the photo album, he handed it to the staff.

"Why can't you give it all to me at once!" He complained as he stood at the door. He found it troublesome to get up every time.

But the staff just apologized but were unwilling to hand him all the albums.

The next book is "Moth" by newcomer photographer Ma Xiumei.

This is a photographer from Taiwan, China. She photographed urban street scenes in Hong Kong and Taiwan, including homeless people under the high-rise buildings.

"It's really heartbreaking." Ryan felt like his heart was stabbed hard every time he looked at a photo.

Because all of Ma Xiumei's photos were specially selected from the most uncomfortable angles.

For example, from a very low angle of view, a group of six people huddled on the bed in a subdivided room looked down at the camera.

The confusion in the eyes of those people was clearly visible, as if they were controlled by something, unable to escape or even describe in words.

There are also photos of workers carrying swill and grandma seeing food in the garbage dump.

These people form a portrayal of the people at the bottom, which also makes the entire album infinitely sadder.

After reading it, Ryan felt that his whole person seemed to be depressed, and his mood fell to the bottom.

"A very good subject." Ryan nodded in affirmation, but then shook his head.

"It's a pity that it was too heavy."

This is also the problem with the sluggish sales of this series.

For painful events, photographers can choose to faithfully record them, but audiences tend to avoid such content when buying albums.

Because every time I look at one of these things, it is a burden on my heart.

This kind of subject matter is more suitable for single works, which can have better dissemination, but if the carrier is a photo album, it will easily disappear.

If Gesei hadn't handed it to Ryan, he wouldn't have known it was on the market.

This situation certainly speaks for itself.
