Chapter 102 I think you are destined to be a Bodhisattva

Chapter 102 I think you are destined to be a Bodhisattva (more to come)
Although he wears a suit and tie, drinks coffee and eats steak, Mu Yuming is still a very traditional or conservative Oriental at heart.

Although he knew very well in his heart that when he was really in trouble, worshiping any god would be worse than hugging his wife's thigh.

But for Chinese people, no matter which family you are from, you can trust me. It doesn’t matter whether it works or not. What’s important is that you have a favor. If something happens to you, just don’t make fun of me.

Throughout the Pacific Rim region, all Chinese who live on the sea must pay homage to the Queen of Heaven.

The Queen of Heaven does not have her own sect or scriptures, and she does not exclude other religious beliefs. Therefore, in coastal cities, you can often see the Queen of Heaven enshrined in the same place as other gods and Buddhas. In this case, most of the time, each company takes the initiative to invite and put money in their own faces.

The Chinese people's belief in the Queen of Heaven is, to be more precise, close to their trust in their own grandmothers. This is the oldest and oldest way of belief passed down from the ancient clan period. It is connected by blood and is intimate.

The Temple of the Queen of Heaven in Saifu City also has local characteristics. In addition to the Queen of Heaven, it also enshrines gods believed by overseas Chinese. Among them, the more famous ones are Emperor Baosheng, and the less famous ones are such as the Emperor of Hades, the Emperor of the Underworld, and the Goddess of Guidance to the Bodhisattva. People in China may have never even heard of it.

It is a custom of the local Chinese to go to the Tin Hau Empress Temple to burn a stick of incense and pray for peace before going to sea.If you are not short of money, you can buy a few more sticks of incense and give them to each person one by one. Regardless of whether you recognize them or not, they will all come in handy.

After all, in this day and age, the sea is still full of unknowns and dangers for humans.

The Niangniang Temple is a conventional term, but it should actually be called the "Taipinggong Temple". It is managed by Laojun Tang, a subsidiary of the Sihai Chamber of Commerce that is responsible for religious beliefs and sacrificial activities.

The main purpose of choosing this name, which sounds a bit awkward to pronounce, is to unify beliefs and treat everyone equally.

The composition of overseas Chinese is complex, and their beliefs are also diverse. In addition to a few officially recognized gods, there are also various "true gods", "immortals", mountain gods and wild ghosts, and even ectopic bodies of some true gods. , for example, Zhumadian Asu's second uncle or something...

This kind of chaotic belief system can easily breed all kinds of troubles. Therefore, in order to maintain social order, the Sihai Chamber of Commerce announced that it recognized all faiths, but the premise was that people were not allowed to worship privately, and unified them to enjoy incense in the "Taipinggong Temple".

Considering that some minority sects only know their names but have no specific images, and some sects have special taboos that do not allow worshiping idols, the Taipinggong Temple has set a unified standard for all gods and Buddhas as a tablet enshrinement mechanism.

As long as you have money, you can build a tablet and send it to the public temple for registration.

If you can't even accept this standard and insist on being new and different, then I'm sorry, everyone must work together to drive you out.

The Taipinggong Temple looks like an ordinary apartment building without any obvious religious symbols. Only the archway at the street corner and the plaque at the door have the name of the Taipinggong Temple engraved on it.

But the interior decoration can be called carved railings and jade, magnificent and extremely luxurious.

Everyone sits together and eats incense. Even if they say they are treating everyone equally, privately there is more or less a hierarchy.

If you don’t take the roll, there will be people taking the roll.

In addition to worshiping various gods and goddesses, the public temple also undertakes the same functions as other religious places, such as weddings and funerals, divination and fortune telling.

Mu Yuming took Li Mumu to the hall dedicated to the Queen of Heaven. He sincerely burned a stick of incense, knelt on the futon and bowed his head in worship.

Li Mumu naturally couldn't sit still, and she didn't believe this. She looked around in boredom, and suddenly saw a rather special tablet enshrined on the nearby shrine.

The reason why it is special is that there are urns piled around the memorial tablet.

On the tablet, a line of gold-painted block letters was neatly written with a calligraphy brush - Three Thousand Worlds Maha Revealed and Reincarnated to Guide the Bodhisattva in Rebirth.

Legend has it that this Bodhisattva has three heads, six arms, and 72 dharma appearances. He is responsible for attracting the souls of the dead, punishing sinners, and burning the sins of the world with red lotus karma fire. Therefore, he is also called the Red Lotus Holy Mother and the Empress of Guidance among the people.Because he has appeared in front of many people in Saifu City, there are many local believers, and the incense is as strong as the Queen of Heaven who sits on the throne.

The Queen of Heaven is responsible for the safety of living people, and the Guiding Bodhisattva is responsible for the rebirth of the dead. Their work contents are different, and their beliefs do not conflict, so they are both placed in the same hall.

The urns placed in front of the Buddha's memorial tablet are all Chinese who died locally and are ready to return to their roots for burial. In order to prevent the souls of the deceased from being disturbed for no reason at sea, they specially come to pray to the Bodhisattva for protection.

There is also a theory that has little basis, but is spread widely, that is, the overseas underworld and the domestic underworld are not the same system. If you want to extradite someone back to your country from overseas, you must go to the Jingyin Bodhisattva to apply for a visa.

Of course, these are the worries of those who have time and money.

After Li Mumu's grandfather passed away, he was buried in the cemetery in Saifu City. He never caused trouble during his lifetime, and he didn't want his family to worry about him after his death.

The reason why Li Mumu noticed this tablet was because she suddenly remembered the "Bodhisattva's blessing" that the man said last night.

If nothing else, it should be this Bodhisattva who is right.

The Queen of Heaven bless every traveler who goes out to sea to reach the destination safely and smoothly.

The Guying Bodhisattva protects Chinese people living overseas from evil spirits in the dark.

The way I looked at that time, wouldn't I be regarded as a good-lucky virgin under the seat of Bodhisattva?

Li Mumu suddenly felt guilty.

The Bodhisattva's appearance has three heads and six arms. She is a copycat version of the two-headed and four-armed version, and one of the heads is carried in the hand... If this image spreads, the Bodhisattva will not blame it, right?
Fortunately, he was about to run away.

Just when she was thinking wildly, a kind voice behind her smiled and said: "Girl, I think you are destined to be a Bodhisattva."

Li Mumu was so frightened that the hairs on her back stood up. She quickly turned around and saw an old woman with white hair, who looked harmless.

This made her feel ashamed for a whole second because her mind was full of complicated thoughts.

Judging from the dress of this old woman, she should be celebrating the temple here. Li Mumu quickly grinned and gave a sweet smile in return.

The old woman looked at Mu Yuming who was burning incense, then at Li Mumu, and asked with a smile: "Girl, are you... going on a long trip?"

Li Mumu nodded obediently.

"I think you are destined to be a Bodhisattva, so why not just get a peace charm here."

It turns out that you are just selling talismans. I thought you wanted to ferry me to the West.

Li Mumu breathed a sigh of relief, and was about to politely refuse, when Mu Yuming said softly from the side: "Please have one, and don't let your mother see it when you go home."
