Generally speaking, the Yuqing Holy Land of Qingwei Heaven is the residence of Yuanshi Tianzun.

However, Yuanshi Tianzun does not necessarily live in the Yuqing Holy Land.

He has his own special temple called "Yujing Mountain".

According to Volume 21 of Yunji Qiqian, Yujing Mountain is located above all the Daluo Heavens in the eight directions.

It is also described in the "Yuanshi Sutra" that there is no ruler in the Daluo realm, only the energy of Brahma, covering the space of the heavens.

In the 26th year of Kaiyuan reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty, he was summoned to the capital. The emperor called him Immortal Elder, granted him the title of Great State Master, and ordered him to be the abbot of Yuanzhen Temple, enter and leave the imperial court, and lead the Xuanjiao.

On the Mid-Autumn Festival in August of the twenty-seventh year, he and Taoist Priest Ye Jingneng used magic to help Emperor Xuanzong visit the Moon Palace.
