Upon hearing this, Venerable Maitreya realized what was happening and responded with a smile, "Indeed, what harm is there in waiting even for a short while, or even until the seas dry up and the rocks crumble, until the world changes completely?"

After saying this, the two stopped talking and instead pointed, conjuring up two prayer mats outside the mountain gate.

Maitreya and Dipankara Buddha each sat on a futon, closing their eyes as if they were seated.

At this moment, it was as if they had not come to pay their respects to Chen Yun and receive Mukden from his departure, but rather to cultivate themselves.

This scene truly surprised many people.

No one expected that Maitreya Buddha and Dipankara Buddha would remain so calm under such humiliation.

Generally speaking, what do people who humiliate others most want to see is the humiliated person flying into a rage and becoming hysterical, so that the humiliator can feel comfortable. However, Maitreya Buddha and Dipankara Buddha saw through Chen Yun's psychology of humiliating people and did the opposite.

Are you trying to make us furious?
Do you want us to become hysterical?
We will do exactly what you want!
We must remain completely calm!
Indeed, the actions of Maitreya and Dipankara Buddha were actually the best way to respond to humiliation.

A gentle breeze caresses the mountain ridge; let him be as arrogant as he may, the bright moon shines over the great river.

No matter how much you, Chen Yun, humiliate us, we will not take it seriously. That would not be humiliating us, but rather you would be humiliating yourself!
Maitreya and Dipankara Buddha must display their extraordinary demeanor so that all the half-step Great Luo beings in the myriad realms can see their magnanimity.

It was indeed shameful for the two of them to come to Qingcheng Mountain, but their sitting motionless outside Qingcheng Mountain and waiting instead transferred that shame to Huangting Temple.

They admit their mistakes and are not afraid of losing face, yet Huangting Temple refuses to let them in, which is impolite.

Therefore, what else is shameful for Huang Tingguan?
The phrase "Emperor Chen has finally deigned to see us" from the Ancient Buddha of the Burning Lamp clearly implies that Chen Yun is petty and narrow-minded!
Qingfeng remained neither arrogant nor humble, saying, "Master did not say he would not see you two; he is simply in seclusion, and we cannot get close to him. We really do not know how to let him meet you two. We have been waiting for a day and a night, but we still cannot see Master. We were afraid that you two would be getting impatient waiting outside, so we invited you to come in first."

Maitreya Buddha and Dipankara Buddha did not believe this statement at all.

Of course, they didn't say anything like they were being unreasonable or stubborn and refusing to listen.

After all, Maudgalyayana's life was still in Chen Yun's hands.

If they really don't go in, Maudgalyayana will surely die.

Since Maitreya Buddha and Dipankara Buddha were willing to lose face to come and pick up Maudgalyayana, they certainly didn't want him to die.

Dipankara Buddha extended his hand and said, "Please, two celestial children, lead the way."

Qingfeng and Mingyue responded and led the way for the two Buddhas.

Before long, the four of them arrived at the guest hall.

A gentle breeze and bright moon invited the two to sit down, and then served them tea and water.

After doing all this, the two of them excused themselves and left the guest room.

As Maitreya Buddha and Dipankara Buddha sipped their celestial tea, they exchanged a glance, both seeing smiles in each other's eyes. They already felt a sense of victory in their contest, and their mood was wonderful.

then……

Well, Chen Yun didn't show up again.

Maitreya and Dipankara Buddha waited in the guest hall, but Chen Yun refused to show himself.

At first, the two of them sat there waiting with great interest, pondering how to ridicule Chen Yun later.

To their surprise, after sitting there for a day and a night, not only did not Chen Yun's men come to entertain them, but even the two boys, Qingfeng and Mingyue, did not come to serve them again.

This caused the faces of Maitreya and Dipankara Buddha, who had initially thought victory was assured, to darken once again.

At least that's what Maitreya Buddha and Dipankara Buddha thought.

They believed that Chen Yun wanted to embarrass them, and that he would only release Mujianlian when he became angry and made a scene.

Dipankara Buddha said expressionlessly, "Since he wants to humiliate us, then let him humiliate us. Now we are the fish on the chopping block, and if we are not humiliated by him, Chen Pu will definitely not release Maudgalyayana."

The Venerable Maitreya took a deep breath. "I can sense where Chen Pu is. Shall we go and attack him directly?"

Dipankara Buddha nodded slightly and said, "Good. No need to be too arrogant. Just cast a spell."

The Venerable Maitreya grunted and said, "I know what I'm doing."

After saying that, he glanced in the direction of the quiet room in the inner courtyard where Chen Yun was in seclusion.

The next moment, with a loud bang, the quiet room where Chen Yun was located exploded, and countless dust particles flew up and filled the air.

This scene surprised countless disciples of Huangting Temple, who naturally did not understand what had just happened.

After all, Venerable Maitreya is considered a powerful being among those at the half-step Great Luo level.

How could Chen Yun's disciples possibly discover that he secretly used magic to destroy the meditation room?

Dipankara Buddha's expression also changed drastically. Although he didn't say anything, his face had changed from gloomy to embarrassed!

They feel very embarrassed now.

Because it was only at this moment that Maitreya Buddha and Dipankara Buddha realized that Chen Yun had not intentionally made things difficult for them at all.

All their previous assumptions were just their own speculations!
What does this mean?
This shows that they both judged others by their own petty standards!

No, this kind of thing will definitely get out.

At that point, it won't just be a matter of them losing face; they'll be the laughingstock of the world.

Emperor Chen was in seclusion, and his disciples couldn't contact him. In the end, they could only invite him into the guest hall. However, Maitreya Buddha and Dipankara Buddha destroyed his meditation room just to force Emperor Chen to meet them. Wasn't that extremely rude?

Most importantly, no matter how others view or ridicule you, that's their business.

When Maitreya Buddha and Dipankara Buddha realized that they had been judging others by their own petty standards, they instinctively felt a sense of shame.

You should know that even if the heavens and earth collapsed, a half-step Great Luo would not be affected in any way. But now they felt ashamed, which clearly meant that their Dao heart had a crack, which would affect their cultivation!
Maitreya and Dipankara Buddha sat there in silence, knowing they had done something wrong today.

Suddenly, Chen Yun's calm voice rang out, "I was unable to entertain the two Buddhas in time during my seclusion, which was a breach of etiquette. But surely the two Buddhas did not need to use magic to destroy my dwelling? I asked you two to come and receive Maudgalyayana in person not to humiliate him, but because I know the shortcomings of my disciples. If you had not come, Maudgalyayana would have been attacked by my disciples again after escaping Huangting Temple, and he would not have been able to handle it."

The Venerable Maitreya opened his mouth as if to speak, but was unable to utter a single word.

Dipankara Buddha was in a similar situation, a wry smile appearing on his face.

Chen Yun didn't care what the two thought at all. His purpose in having them come to pick up the person in person was indeed as he said, not to deliberately make things difficult for them.

While continuing his seclusion, he transmitted his thoughts, saying, "Wang E, I said before that I would release Maudgalyayana if the two Buddhas came in person. Now that the two Buddhas have come, why don't you release him?"

That's exactly what he thought. As someone who had long since "seen through the story," he knew that apart from the people he cared about, nothing anyone else did in this world could stir his emotions.

If that's the case, why did Chen Yun use the Maudgalyayana incident to make things difficult for Maitreya Buddha and Dipankara Buddha?

As for his previous statement that if the two hadn't come, Maudgalyayana would have been buried in Qingcheng Mountain, it's essentially the same thing.

It was simply that Jiu Feng, Wang E, Niu Pingtian, and others were angered by Niu Dali's death and Mu Jianlian's delivery of the corpse to their door, and were determined to kill Mu Jianlian.

None of this matters.

What's surprising is that neither Maitreya nor Dipankara Buddha ever expected Chen Yun to be so open-minded and magnanimous.

This made them, who had been trying to figure out what the other was thinking, feel extremely ashamed.
