Chapter 2552 The Clown's Performance

Chapter 2552 The Clown's Performance (Third Update. Please Subscribe)

What a bunch of... bystanders!

Feeling the gazes directed at him, Ye Lingyun remained calm, but inwardly he was sneering.

The reason he sneered was because during his years at the United Nations, he knew very well why these countries voted and whether their votes were for justice.

These countries' votes were never based on justice, but solely on Soviet oil and Soviet aid.

This is what they call justice and fairness.

Their justice, their fairness, is nothing more than a few barrels of oil. And then they stand there righteously proclaiming that we are the just.

This is a joke.

After walking to the podium, Ye Lingyun did not speak immediately. Instead, he slightly raised his chin and slowly scanned the representatives of various countries in the hall with an expression that was a mixture of sarcasm and provocation.

His gaze was sharp as a knife, as if it wanted to peel away every layer of pretense, or rather, to tear away all their hypocrisy.

Under that piercing gaze, coupled with the cold smile on his face, the hall gradually quieted down. Everyone's eyes were fixed on him, filled with curiosity mixed with a hint of wariness.

After a moment, Ye Lingyun finally spoke, his voice carrying clearly through the microphone throughout the entire hall, devoid of any emotion:
"Mr. Secretary-General and representatives of all countries, you have just adopted a resolution in which you claim that this is a military invasion."

It is a military aggression by one sovereign state against another sovereign state.

They completely ignored the root causes of this war on terror. They also ignored the invitation extended to us by the Lebanese government—the Lebanese government, which holds a seat at the United Nations.

I won't go on at length refuting your claims with irrefutable facts. I simply don't know what words, or rather, what feelings, to use to address this kind of joke.

What we have witnessed over the past few days is a farce.

No, this is not just a farce, it's a scandal.

People of justice around the world have witnessed how the United Nations General Assembly hall has become a place filled with clowns and farces. It is no longer the solemn venue of the UN General Assembly, but an entertainment venue.

The reporters perked up immediately upon hearing Ye Lingyun's speech, and they all pointed their cameras at him, as this was exactly the kind of news they had been waiting for.

Military conflicts in Southeast Asia, the future of Lebanon—none of that matters. What they really need is big news.

This is the kind of big news right now.

After all, ordinary people don't care about things happening tens of thousands of kilometers away; what they care about is...

What they care about is precisely this kind of sarcastic remark.

"Please allow me to applaud your wonderful performance!"

While speaking, Ye Lingyun even clapped for them, but the smile on his face was full of sarcasm.

He looked at everyone as he applauded.

He just watched as everyone wore sarcastic smiles and their eyes were full of mockery.

Was he clapping?

No.

He's telling everyone that you're all clowns.

"Now the whole world has seen the clown's performance. Well, all the righteous words, all the passionate rhetoric, it's all just the clown putting on a show."

This is exactly what we see in the United Nations.

The so-called sacred United Nations, the international order we built with millions of lives after the end of World War II, everything we... all our allies built with sacrifice and blood, has today become a complete joke.

What blood, what sacrifice?
That's not important. What's important is that the United Nations must exist, because it must defend rogue states. It must protect tyrants, and it must endorse all injustices and tragedies in the world.

This is precisely the significance of the United Nations' existence today.

While it's not perfect, this is the United Nations we have today.

Faced with such sarcasm, the UN Secretary-General and representatives from various countries looked extremely displeased.

They had imagined everything, but they never expected that the other side would ultimately point all the finger at the United Nations. Even if the United Nations did so, so what?
The United Nations is like a chamber pot, and the reason it's like that is because you major powers completely disregard its authority. At this moment, UN officials have only one thought in mind: "I'm suffering!"

How can you criticize us like that?
We're in a real bind!

You are a great power, and you monopolize everything. Then you expect the United Nations to uphold justice. Is that realistic?

So all those words ultimately boil down to one sentence: "Baby's suffering!"

However, Ye Lingyun did not stop speaking, but continued.

"In the face of such injustice, we could have simply walked out of the venue to express our strong protest against this unfounded accusation and our dissatisfaction."

He paused, a mocking smile playing on his lips:

“But I didn’t do that. In the past few days, I have witnessed your wonderful ‘performance’ with people all over the world—oh, no, I should say, a performance by a bunch of clowns.”

As soon as these words were spoken, a small commotion broke out in the meeting room, and many delegates looked displeased and frowned.

The SEA representative, however, completely ignored this and continued:

"You keep accusing us of invading Lebanon, but you selectively ignore a most basic fact: we entered Lebanon to combat terrorist organizations at the formal invitation of the legitimate Lebanese government! This is to help Lebanon maintain national stability, so how can it be called an 'invasion'?"

His voice suddenly rose a few decibels, carrying a strong sense of accusation:
"What's even more ridiculous is that you turn a blind eye to Syria's military invasion of Lebanon four years ago—to this day, large swathes of northern Lebanon remain under Syrian occupation! Why don't you stand up and condemn it? Why don't you demand that Syria withdraw its troops?"

As soon as he finished speaking, he abruptly turned his gaze to the UN Secretary-General and other officials on the side of the podium, his eyes filled with even more mockery, and a cold smile curled at the corner of his mouth:
"Is this what you call justice at the United Nations?"

These words struck everyone like a heavy hammer blow.

They all knew the truth, but they did nothing. They had been pretending not to hear, but now someone had exposed their ignorance.

"You all keep saying this is for justice, pointing fingers under the guise of peace, so let me ask you—"

He held up his finger, his tone firm and forceful, questioning each word clearly.

"Where was your so-called condemnation when Syria brazenly invaded Lebanon? Where was your so-called justice when the Red True Cult carried out massacres in its country, causing countless innocent people to die tragically?"
Where was your justice when the tyrants of the Central African Empire were slaughtering their own people and even committing the horrific act of cannibalism?

A series of rhetorical questions exploded in the conference hall like thunderclaps, each word piercing the heart and carrying an irrefutable force. The once noisy hall instantly fell into a deathly silence.

The representatives from various countries looked at each other, some lowered their eyes, some pursed their lips, and not one of them could stand up to refute them.

Those representatives who had just been speaking eloquently now showed some embarrassment and awkwardness on their faces, especially those from several countries that had deliberately avoided the topic. They were particularly uneasy, avoiding eye contact with the SEA representatives.

The only sounds in the entire hall were the faint hum of the air conditioning and the heavy breathing of the crowd. The deathly silence was even more suffocating than the previous clamor.

At this moment, Ye Lingyun still persisted, saying:
"Just as Your Excellency said back then, the United Nations has long since become a haven for tyrants and villains. They hide under the so-called rules of international politics, wantonly bullying and even massacring people at home, and using their seats and voices in the United Nations to seek aid and support from major powers. Meanwhile, the United Nations and the relevant countries turn a blind eye to the atrocities that have occurred in their own countries."

Even worse, the United Nations, as the arbitrator of the international order, took the lead in breaking the rules—ignoring Syria's invasion of Lebanon while simultaneously ignoring Lebanon's invitation to other countries to help it restore domestic order and expel the invaders. Even more egregiously, it even helped the invaders criticize the countries that provided assistance to the invaded party.

Is this the international order that the United Nations and its representatives keep proclaiming?
This is not a case of the strong preying on the weak.

This is turning black into white. This is shamelessness.

This... is what you call the United Nations.

After saying these words, Ye Lingyun crossed his arms and coldly looked at the representatives from various countries below the stage. His face was sneered, and the corners of his mouth were full of sarcasm.

Faced with such sarcasm, the audience naturally erupted in uproar. Just then, Ye Lingyun leaned forward slightly and spoke into the microphone.

“I need to remind the countries concerned, just as we warned in the past—human rights are more important than national sovereignty.”

As he finished speaking, the expressions of representatives from many countries changed. The expressions of some of the darker-skinned representatives were particularly fascinating.

They even seemed somewhat flustered, turning their attention to certain countries that were the very backing they relied on.

The reporters were no longer just watching a show. They had suddenly realized something.

Back then, when Li Yi'an uttered those words in this very venue, everyone knew what was about to happen—the Kingdom of Iraq was restored.

So what now?
Where did they point their fingers this time?
