Chapter 2566 Your Highness, Only You Can Save Iran (Second Update, Please Subscribe)
Sometimes, a butterfly's wings will undergo some changes.
On February 27, an Air France Boeing 447 took off from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and landed at Tehran Mehrabad International Airport.
The passenger on this special plane was Ayatollah Khomeini, the Shiite leader, Ayatollah, and head of the Nahdlatul Ulama (Song Committee) of Iran. After 15 years in exile, he finally returned to Iran.
In addition to Khomeini's entourage and about 120 international journalists, the plane was not only there to report, but also to ensure the safety of the aircraft and prevent an attack by the Iranian military.
They were just human shields, used to deter the Iranian military from launching an attack.
In fact, they are overthinking it; the Iranian military has no such plans whatsoever.
Fearing that the Iranian military might shoot down the plane or assassinate Khomeini at the airport, the aircraft circled low over Tehran to confirm the runway was safe. Khomeini's entourage helped him put on a bulletproof vest, and he was personally escorted off the plane by the Air France captain.
This accompaniment even represents an attitude—France's support for Khomeini. In fact, Khomeini was under French protection during his time in France, which allowed him to conduct propaganda. The reason France assisted Khomeini in returning to Tehran this time was also to show their attitude. They hope to gain more in the future in Iran through this method.
Even seasoned politicians are so naive, let alone ordinary Iranians—millions lined up to welcome Khomeini's return, with crowds stretching for 18 kilometers along both sides of the highway.
Khomeini then went to the Behesht-Zahra Cemetery to deliver a speech, declaring the Pahlavi Shah government an illegitimate government and stating that he would appoint his own government.
This man, who had repeatedly stated that he had "no interest in politics" while in France, has finally torn away his pretense.
Ten days later, the Pahlavi dynasty was completely overthrown, and the Islamic Republic was established. He became the Supreme Leader, which fundamentally changed the political landscape of Iran. However, the situation in Iran did not calm down because of his return.
"...Currently, social order in Iran is unstable. Forces loyal to the Shah are constantly creating trouble throughout the country. Organizations such as Mugahdin and Fedah are organizing loyal people to oppose the rebels. Armed forces in the Balochistan region also hold dissenting views towards them."
In a café near the military camp, Sadar silently stared at his coffee cup. Sitting across from him was none other than his friend Eshid from the Air Force Academy.
Ahmad returned to Iran last year to serve as a pilot in the Royal Air Force, but now he has come here alone during this storm, not to seek refuge, but to extend an invitation.
“Your Highness, you should return to Iran. Although there are still troops loyal to the monarchy, and the Imperial Guard even attacked Khomeini's base, they are leaderless. Without the king's command, the generals have their own agendas. If you return to Iran, you will surely gain the generals' loyalty…”
After listening to Aishid's advice, Sadar remained silent for a moment before speaking:
"You know, my mother was just a princess!"
"Her Highness enjoys far greater prestige in Iran than anyone else!"
Aishid looked at the prince before him and said earnestly:
“Not everyone will necessarily be willing to fight for the Shah, but many are willing to fight for Her Highness the Princess. After all, she is a person who cares about the people. Only Her Highness the Princess can stop Khomeini now! Her Highness the Princess enjoys a reputation among the people that no one can match.”
In fact, to a large extent, we should thank Khomeini. Back then, in order to undermine the royal family, he remotely directed his followers in Paris to praise Princess Naz's righteous deeds and criticize her.
Looking at Aishid, who was standing before him with an urgent expression and tone, Sadar pondered for a moment before asking:
"So, Ashid, who are you representing?"
"Your Highness, I..."
Whom did Ashid represent?
First of all, he wasn't a high-ranking officer, nor was he a member of any organization; he was just an ordinary mid-level air force officer. Hearing His Highness's question, Aishid paused for a moment, then said:
“Your Highness, if the Princess does not return to Iran, Iran will surely fall into the hands of Khomeini and his followers. At that time, a disaster will await Iran. Your Highness, now, only the Princess and you can save Iran. Although people are disgusted with the Shah and the royal family, disgusted with their corruption, disgusted with their greed... no one but the royal family can unite everyone. And within the royal family, only the Princess can be accepted by everyone. If Your Highness returns to Iran, she will surely gain the support of the people. With the support of the people, Khomeini and his followers will not be able to usurp the country and will not let the country return to a state before civilization.”
Seeing the somewhat agitated Aishid, Sadar understood that he had come alone, or rather, he represented the young Iranian officers.
Is this your opinion?
"Your Highness, many young officers believe this, and in the Air Force, the vast majority of officers think so! We hope Your Highness can save Iran!" Nodding slightly, Sadar looked at his friend, remained silent for a moment, and then said:
"So do you think Khomeini and his followers would accept fair elections for all organizations?"
His Highness's question startled Sadar. He opened his mouth but remained silent for a long time... Finally, he let out a long sigh.
"They are taking Iran..."
"Why didn't the politicians from those organizations invite the princess? Because they also wanted to seize the fruits of victory, so even if Her Highness returned to Iran, it would be meaningless... and wouldn't change the overall situation."
Ashid sighed. He knew His Highness was right, and he had come here because, in the eyes of him and his friends, this was their only hope.
But His Highness's answer shattered his last hope. In fact, he knew the answer, because he had witnessed firsthand what those factions were doing in Iran.
“Your Highness… I know, I know what they’re doing. They’re all trying to seize the fruits of victory. They’re all there trying to make a deal with Khomeini through trade. They’re all there trying to win Khomeini’s support. But they don’t realize that this is undoubtedly making a deal with a viper.”
So what kind of person is he?
He asked calmly.
"To say he was an extremely conservative priest is an understatement; it would be more accurate to say he was a tyrant."
Ashid continued:
"Over the past few decades, he has represented not only the most extreme and conservative clergy. His opposition to the Shah stemmed from his opposition to the reforms promoted by the Shah, which challenged the authority of the clergy. Since the schools were all under the responsibility of the clergy, and all children had to study with the clergy, the clergy possessed far more authority than officials. However, the Shah's educational reforms changed everything."
Furthermore, the reforms promoted by the Shah brought Western ideas and lifestyles into Iran. Rather than saying that the clerics opposed the modern lifestyle, it would be more accurate to say that these ideas and lifestyles seriously affected the authority of the clerics, because people were no longer so devout. Without piety, what prestige do the clerics have? Without prestige, there is no power.
Therefore, the clergy used tradition and conservatism as their weapons to resist reform. The conservative forces in rural areas allowed their wishes to be fulfilled. You know, in most parts of Iran, they are very backward, and their thinking is extremely conservative. Most people don't understand what modern life is, and now they don't need to understand. Because Iran is destined to regress to decades ago, back to before civilization!
As he listened to Aishid's views, Sadar's gaze changed slightly. He knew that Aishid had his own ideas, but he did not expect that his insights would be so... incisive.
In fact, Ashid, as a pilot, was not just a pilot. He had studied in England and became an air force pilot after returning home. He was not just an officer.
"You call him a tyrant, so was he a very brutal person?"
"Your Highness, he's more than just violent; he's a complete madman, a delusional megalomaniac, and a paranoiac. He's utterly autocratic, surrounded by a small clique of politically subservient and extremely fanatical individuals."
A few days ago, the Imperial Guard launched a surprise attack on the military academy within the Tehran airbase, aiming to destroy the so-called command center of the Song Committee. A fierce battle ensued, but the ragtag mob was no match for the Imperial Guard. If it weren't for the defection of some insurgent soldiers from the Tehran garrison, perhaps everything would have been different. After the battle, all the captured Imperial Guard soldiers and officers were accused of heresy, and he ordered their execution; no one emerged alive.
At this point, Ashid couldn't help but sigh deeply and said:
"That's why I've come here, hoping to persuade Your Highness to return to Iran. After the Imperial Guard's attempt failed, no one can change the situation anymore. Only Your Highness cares about Iran's future, not power. But now... those people are plunging Iran into darkness!"
Sadar did not refute his friend's opinion; instead, he looked at his friend and said:
“My friends, I know that Iran is the most important thing in your hearts, but what will happen next?”
Khomeini will exploit the conflicts between various factions to ultimately seize power for himself. To gain power, he will inevitably crack down on each faction, and at the same time, he will launch a purge within the military. And you… those who were trained in Western countries and deeply influenced by Western ideology will inevitably be the first to be targeted. Therefore, my advice is to leave!
what!
Aishid looked at His Highness, his eyes filled with confusion.
At this point, Sadar continued:
"Right now, the most important thing for you is to protect yourselves in this storm. Only in this way can you have any hope for the future. If you lose your lives, then there will be no other chances. My friend, this is my advice to you!"
Hearing His Highness's suggestion, Aishid frowned deeply and said:
"Protect yourself? In such a storm, how can you possibly protect yourself and stay out of it?"
