Chapter 2628 Ruthless Methods (Second Update, Please Subscribe)
"Is there even a question? It's definitely SEA..."
When they came up with this hypothetical idea, they were all startled, because everyone knew who the subject was, and when the idea popped into everyone's mind, everyone was taken aback by this absurd hypothesis.
"It can't be theirs. If they really wanted to do this, they wouldn't need to. They could create other people's reasons...to benefit..."
Suddenly, as if struck by a thought, Hans quickly took out the merchant ship data, pasted the forms there, and said:
"Look at this!"
what is this?
These are customs declaration forms for merchant ships entering the port. Each form clearly states the country and company to which the merchant ship belongs, as well as the type of goods being transported.
"This...it doesn't look like anything."
Andrei looked at Hans with a puzzled expression.
"Yes, boss, it's just a normal merchant ship customs declaration."
"That's normal, but what about the ship owners of these ships?"
Hans pointed to the customs declaration and said:
"French ships, Greek ships, Italian ships..."
As he spoke, he sorted through the documents, saying as he did so:
“We separate them by country, then by company, and then find the connections between the companies…”
And so, every merchant ship that had entered or left Lebanon over the past two years was meticulously categorized. Looking at those forms, Andrei asked:
Is there anything wrong with this?
"275 merchant ships."
Hans took a drag of his cigarette and then said:
"This is the number of merchant ships that have entered and exited the Port of Beirut over the past two years."
"It's just normal coming and going. In any case, there's always a need for all kinds of goods here. After all, people always need to survive."
"Yes, you're right. However, in the past two years, more than seven ships have been hit by stray bullets, which has caused many shipping companies to withdraw from here or reduce their services..."
Hans took out a form and said:
"This is the only Greek shipping company that hasn't withdrawn or reduced its services! Why is that?"
"For profit."
Nop said:
"A 100% profit margin is enough to make merchants risk the gallows. After the merchant ships were attacked, freight rates went up, boss, look..."
Pointing to the shipping cost on the invoice, Nop said:
"The freight rate from Alexandria to Beirut has tripled in the past two years. With such high profits, some people will choose safety, while others will choose profit."
This answer seemed reasonable, but staring at the table, Hans said:
"Yes, you're right, some people do that, but it could be normal or it could be abnormal, and what we need is..."
Staring at the table, Hans said:
"It's about looking for any possible clues; the clues might be hidden within them..."
As he spoke, Hans picked up a form, pointed to the names on it, and said:
"Bring him back."
"What? He..."
Andrei asked in confusion:
"He's just a port official; he might accept bribes, but..."
"He must die!"
Hans said:
"Not only is he going to die, but also him, and the shipping company manager..."
Pointing to several names that appeared repeatedly on the table, Hans said:
"They must all die, and they must be tortured!"
"what!"
Before Andrei could speak, Langer, the assassin accustomed to both dry and wet work, sneered:
"I understand, boss. You mean we need to panic them. The dead can't talk, but... the dead can talk too!"
“Yes,” Hans nodded and said:
“We want the dead to speak, and the mastermind behind it all… he has no idea what these people know, or rather… he will never know what they would say. If even one of the dead has the slightest chance of knowing a little bit of information, the mastermind will deal with it immediately. Since he has handled it so cleanly, he will definitely do the same to avoid getting burned!”
After saying that, Hans lit a cigarette, took a puff, and slowly said:
"Next, all we need to focus on is... whether anyone else has died or gone missing besides what we did."
"That's not a bad idea."
While agreeing, Andrei glanced at the names on the form and then said:
“Start with the port authority, then the captain, then the shipping company manager… and maybe a few more people. Some of these people are involved in this matter or know some inside information.”
"Just use torture. Whether their confessions are true or false doesn't matter. What matters is..."
Taking a deep drag of his cigarette, Hans said:
"We need to let them know what we're doing." The "them" he was referring to were both the masterminds behind the scenes and Hydra. They had been here for two weeks, and they needed to give them an explanation so they would know that the task force was in action.
When they made this decision, none of them thought it was a big deal; in their view, the targets were merely tools.
……
That afternoon, Port Authority Officer Karim had just driven out of the port building parking lot when a dilapidated van suddenly sped out from a side alley and blocked his way. Before he could react, Linowski had already pressed a silenced pistol against the back of his head. "Shut up if you don't want to die, stop the car."
Ranger's voice was icy cold, and Qasim trembled with fear, having no choice but to obey orders. As soon as the car stopped, Ranger covered his mouth and nose with a towel soaked in anesthetic and dragged him into the truck within seconds.
They then cleaned up the scene and took the people away in a van.
The interrogation took place in an abandoned warehouse, now just crumbling walls and dusty ground, far from residential areas, where even the loudest noise wouldn't be heard. Karim was strapped to a cold iron chair, his hands and feet firmly secured with cable ties.
When he was awakened from his coma by being doused with cold water, he saw several people, an electric shock device and several gleaming solid iron bars in the corner, and his eyes were instantly filled with extreme fear.
“Mr. Port Authority, we ask, you answer.”
Hans ripped the gag from his mouth and asked in a completely cold tone:
"In the past two years, has that ship brought a large amount of money into the port?"
Karim swallowed hard, then shook his head, trying to appear calm:
"I don't know. There are so many ships coming and going at the port every day. It's impossible for me to remember them all."
Without saying a word, Ranger put down the iron bar, walked straight to the corner, picked up the electrocution device, connected the wires, and pressed the switch. The current made a faint "buzzing" sound as it passed through the electrodes. He placed the two clamps on Karim's arms, looked up at Hans, and, after receiving a signal, increased the current intensity without hesitation.
A violent electric current surged through Karim's body instantly, his body tensed violently, a heart-wrenching scream escaped his throat, and neat, charred burn marks quickly appeared on his skin. But Qasim still shouted:
"I don't know what you want, God, I really don't know!"
“It doesn’t matter”
Ranger turned off the electric shock device, grabbed an iron bar from the side, and slammed it down hard on Karim's shin. A crisp "crack" rang out, the sound of bones breaking was clearly audible, and Karim's screams instantly changed tone as he convulsed in pain.
"Looks like you're pretty resilient."
Hans's voice remained completely calm.
"Keep going, try a different spot, don't let him pass out, he'll eventually remember something."
Over the next few days, agonizing screams echoed from the warehouse. At first, Qasim didn't know what to confess, but with the help of the Great Memory Restoration spell, he soon began to give a confession.
Even so, the torture did not stop. Hans and his men took turns, using very professional techniques: all the positions were placed on non-vital areas, clearly indicating that they were operated by professionally trained people, ensuring that they would leave a deep impression on the other party and prolong the interrogation time to the maximum extent.
Over the course of several days, Karim remembered everything he should and shouldn't have remembered. While the interrogation continued, Hans reviewed his confession.
"That's interesting. Two years ago, the captain of the 'Carsalos' had a large amount of cash in his safe."
Hans nodded slightly, and then said:
"Then he's our next target."
"And what about him?"
Hans's gaze darkened, and without the slightest hesitation, he said, "Useless people are useless to keep. Get rid of them and evacuate from here."
His tone was flat, and there was no trace of pity in his eyes.
"Make it look like someone died during interrogation."
"Ok."
The next thing will be much easier to handle.
A few minutes later, the men lifted Karim, who was wrapped in a blanket, into a car and drove under cover of darkness to a secluded road outside the city, where they dumped his body on the roadside.
Then the group
The following morning, Karim's body was found by the roadside. The body was curled up beside a roadside ditch, covered in wounds and bearing multiple blunt force trauma marks; he had already lost all vital signs.
Beirut police arrived at the scene quickly after receiving the report, and several uniformed officers squatted down next to the body to investigate.
Officer Arthur, who was in charge of the investigation, frowned as he carefully examined the wounds on the body, his expression growing increasingly grave.
"The deceased was port authority officer Karim, who had been missing for a full week."
Arthur stood up and said to his subordinates:
"Judging from the wounds on the body, he suffered various forms of torture before his death—the methods were very professional, and these wounds were likely left during the interrogation, ultimately leading to his death."
The police officer standing nearby couldn't help but frown:
"Is it an armed faction?"
"They were kicked out a long time ago, this..."
Arthur thought for a moment and said:
"This is definitely not something an ordinary person would do."
After saying that, he turned his gaze into the distance and muttered to himself.
"Beirut doesn't seem to be in a peaceful state right now."
