Chapter 1219 The Highest Tower
Chapter 1219 The Highest Tower
As Mo Ling made his way toward the Dawn Tower, he searched his memories, but so far, not much information came to light.
The Dawn Tower occupies a large area, which is necessary to support the weight of the building. The previous tall buildings felt to Mo Ling like "iron pillars reaching the sky," while the Dawn Tower felt like "a mountain."
His view swept around the "foot of the mountain," taking a long time to complete a full circle. Dawn Tower has many entrances, each heavily guarded. There were some tourists taking pictures outside, but when they tried to enter, they were stopped by security personnel.
Only those with the necessary privileges can enter. Every time someone enters, envious glances are cast, just like the entrances to the prestigious universities that Mo Ling had seen before.
Dawn Tower has become a kind of "tourist attraction" to some extent. As the tallest building in Abyss City, many tourists are willing to make a special trip to see it.
While observing, Mo Ling also walked to one of the entrances.
Perhaps because he hadn't come to Dawn Tower through this entrance before, he had almost no recollection of it.
"How exactly did I get in?"
Mo Ling approached the entrance while wondering about it.
Of course, he was quickly stopped by security personnel.
His hesitant demeanor clearly indicated that he wasn't someone with the authority, but the security personnel still routinely scanned Mo Ling with their equipment.
Unexpectedly, the device flashed a green light.
The security personnel were taken aback for a moment, then quickly said "Excuse me" and returned to their original positions.
Mo Ling was also bewildered by this unexpected little incident.
"Does the green light mean... I have access to the Dawn Tower? Why would I have access to the Dawn Tower?"
He stood there for a moment, then crossed the security line and walked inside.
"Did the research institute apply for it for me? Or did I already have it?"
His memories seemed to offer no answer, remaining as calm as a still lake. Everything before him was unfamiliar, except for the name "Dawn Tower," which lingered in his mind as if trying to tell him something.
As soon as he entered the gate, a faint scent of perfume wafted over on the cool breeze, brushing past Mo Ling. He stood still and carefully sensed it, but both the scent and the feeling of the breeze were completely unfamiliar.
Inside the main entrance was a very luxurious corridor that seemed to lead to the central lobby. Unlike the crowd outside, the white-collar workers coming and going were not dressed in flashy clothes. Most of them wore various uniforms, which looked very sophisticated and were carefully designed.
Mo Ling stood in the middle of the corridor, his hospital gown looking completely out of place, not to mention his metal block head, which made him stand out even more from the magnificent scene.
However, the people around him didn't pay much attention to him. It was as if he had returned to the research institute, where everyone was busy with their own work and had no time to care about what was around them.
Some white-collar workers walked with hurried steps, tapping on their electronic screens as they went; others wore strange helmets and kept muttering technical terms, seemingly attending a meeting in a simulated conference room; still others had countless electronic screens floating around them like a peacock spreading its tail, displaying red and green lines, and the person walking around had their eyes fixed on those winding lines...
Everyone was busy, except for Mo Ling, who was free.
Even the cleaning robot was busy. The surrounding area had been cleaned, leaving only the spot under Mo Ling's feet. The robot kept circling around Mo Ling, its indicator lights flashing, waiting for Mo Ling to leave so it could clean the area under her feet.
Seeing the robot's "eager" appearance, Mo Ling took a step to the right, making room for it. The robot's indicator light finally stopped flashing, and Mo Ling could almost see the robot "breathe a sigh of relief." After cleaning the last patch of ground, it hurriedly moved on to other areas.
Since she couldn't remember anything while she was there, Mo Ling simply followed the robot.
The interior of Dawn Tower was indeed very large. Following the robot, Mo Ling walked and stopped for about ten minutes before finally reaching a place that resembled a lobby. The ceiling here was much higher than the previous corridor, and there were many more people coming and going. The lobby also had many rest areas and information areas.
Just then, Mo Ling saw a strange line: a staff member leading a group of children wearing name tags, with a middle-aged man who looked like a teacher following behind.
"Is this a tour group?" Mo Ling immediately realized that this was an opportunity to learn about the Dawn Tower, so he pretended to rest in the rest area and sat down directly behind the staff member.
Fortunately, the staff member wasn't carrying an audio guide, so their voices carried to Mo Ling's side...
"Kids, I have a question for you: How many years after the Abyss was the Dawn Tower rebuilt? There will be a gift if you answer correctly!"
As the staff asked questions, the children in the group began to answer them all at once.
"ten years!"
"No, it's twenty years!"
"Thirty years!"
"a hundred years!"
"A thousand years!"
As the children answered, they forgot about the question and started competing with each other, as if whoever spoke for longer had the upper hand.
Seeing the scene getting increasingly chaotic, the teacher at the back of the line gave the staff member giving the explanation an awkward smile, and then quickly began to restore order...
The children finally stopped making noise and looked at the staff expectantly.
"What this child said is quite close. The Dawn Tower was started in the twenty-third year after the reconstruction of the Abyss, and then it took a full ten years to build, finally being completed in the thirty-third year. So thirty years is the closest estimate. Little friend, you can get a gift in a bit..."
"yeah!"
The child who answered correctly clenched his fist excitedly. He didn't know what he had answered correctly, he just knew there would be a gift.
"Now I have another question: What company built the Dawn Tower? It's a very famous company, kids, feel free to guess."
As soon as he finished speaking, the children started chattering and arguing again.
"Dawn City's No. 1 Kindergarten!"
"Class 2, Grade 1, Dawn City Kindergarten!"
"Class 1!"
"Kindergarten isn't a company..." a little girl said weakly, but her voice was quickly drowned out by the voices of the other children.
The teacher also showed a helpless expression and shrugged at the staff.
The staff didn't seem to care much and continued listening to the children's lively debate.
"Children, stop for a moment, how about we give the teacher a chance?"
"Okay!" the children shouted in unison.
"Teacher? Do you know the answer to this question?"
"Yuanxin Technology," the teacher replied with a smile.
"correct!"
