Chapter 1367 Three's Trip to Switzerland

Sorel hid in the bookshelf for a while longer, and finally, from the noise outside, she realized that the tax bureau was coming to investigate something and was being blocked by the monks.

Just then, she suddenly saw someone in the distance reporting to an official in a tax bureau uniform in the corridor:

Several priests nearby looked at the tax bureau personnel with disdain.

She hesitated for a moment, then quietly approached the tax bureau employee standing at the farthest point and whispered:

"Pay attention to the upper side of the bottom of the cabinet; there might be a hidden compartment there."

The support team members turned around in surprise, only to see the back of a servant walking away.

Satisfied, Sorel called for Courage and the others to retreat. They first returned to the Brotherhood's stronghold, handed the found books to a member skilled in auditing, and then changed into their usual clothes before leaving through the back door.

The latter looked at her with teary eyes, choking back sobs, and said, "Forty...forty..."

Sorel reached for her purse: "Forty francs?"

“…10,000 francs, sob sob.”

Sorel froze on the spot.

Count Elach, seeing the growing crowd, felt somewhat embarrassed and quickly pulled his two colleagues away with their heads down.

The three reached the edge of the square and were about to board the carriage when a tall, elegant noblewoman approached and curtsied to them.

"If you don't mind, perhaps I can help you find that swindler."
