Chapter 1105 Searching
"What happened here? Who are you people?" the middle-aged man asked in a deep voice, his sharp gaze sweeping over Dean and Sam.
"Witchers," Sam replied, panting. "We just dealt with a demon. Who are you?"
"Witchers?" The woman scoffed, her eyes filled with clear scrutiny and distrust. "Colorado is in such a mess right now because I heard two idiots named Winchester opened the gates of hell. Are you one of them?"
Dean tried to interrupt her with a friendly smile: "It seems the news travels fast."
“Listen, whatever you’ve heard, the important thing is that there are still six very dangerous demons nearby; they are the Seven Deadly Sins. We need to cooperate.”
"Cooperate?" The woman interrupted Dean rudely, as if she had heard a joke. "Cooperate with the traitor who opened the gates of hell. Who knows if you're in cahoots with the demons? We'd rather deal with it ourselves than get involved with jinxes like you!"
After saying this, the couple cautiously took a few steps back, then quickly turned and left, showing no intention of cooperating whatsoever.
Dean's smile froze on his face, and Sam sighed helplessly.
Being ostracized and criticized by their peers is not a pleasant experience, but at least they have a powerful reinforcement on their way.
Dean glanced at the message on his phone again, his eyes hardening once more.
After the witcher couple left, the house fell into a brief silence, with only Lisa's soft sobs and Bob's body lying quietly.
Looking at the Winchester brothers, who were covered in wounds and pale-faced, Allen asked worriedly, "What do we do now? Those guys are gone, and we're left with just the three of us wounded, and we have to face six, God, six Seven Deadly Sins demons."
Dean gritted his teeth, enduring the sharp pain in his thigh, and struggled to sit up straighter against the wall. "What else can I do?"
He spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva, his eyes sharp: "We just killed one of their brothers. Given how vengeful these bastards are, they've definitely already written the three of us down on the first page of their little notebook."
"They are most likely in this area, waiting for an opportunity to tear us apart."
He looked out at the gloomy sky and continued, "Sitting idly by and waiting to die is not our style. Allen, you stay here to take care of Lisa and reinforce the defenses here as much as possible, using all the talismans you know."
“Sam.” He looked at his brother again. “We can’t just sit around. Let’s drive around and scan the area with EMF detectors, focusing on places that have reported unusual events, bizarre deaths, mass hallucinations, electrical malfunctions. We can’t let any suspicious clue slip by.”
"They have just lost a member, their strength may be fluctuating, and they are more likely to give themselves away."
Sam nodded, his eyes equally determined despite the pain in his right arm.
He quickly gathered the usable equipment, helped Dean up, and the two limped towards the weathered old car outside.
Allen sighed and began rummaging through his equipment bag, taking out salt, talismans, and other items, and started setting up the safe house.
Meanwhile, Wu Heng was driving a black top-of-the-line SUV along the interstate highway toward the area where Dean and his group were.
Outside the car window, the sky had become unusually gloomy, with low-hanging leaden clouds and a stuffy atmosphere that made it hard to breathe.
Soon, sparse raindrops began to pelt the windshield, quickly becoming denser, and the torrential rain formed a curtain, drastically reducing visibility. Vehicles on the road slowed down, turned on their headlights and hazard lights, and cautiously drove on the slippery road.
Some drivers, eager to get home, sped up, wanting to cross the Wesleyt Bridge spanning the wide river as quickly as possible and get home. Wu Heng's car also drove onto this magnificent bridge.
The windshield wipers swung wildly from side to side, barely managing to clear a patch of clear vision.
The river under the bridge had risen significantly due to the heavy rain, and the turbid water was churning, almost touching the bottom of the bridge piers.
Just as the vehicle reached the middle of the bridge, Wu Heng's gaze inadvertently swept across the river to his right, and his pupils narrowed slightly.
"Disappointing!" Wu Heng coldly uttered two words.
Amidst the vast rain and churning muddy currents, a rotten wooden mast with tattered sail ropes was rising slowly and defying all logic from the center of the river!
Immediately following, an even larger dark shadow emerged from the water—an ancient sailing ship built entirely of old, water-eroded dark wood.
The ship is about twenty meters long and has an old-fashioned style, definitely not a product of this era.
The sails were tattered and hung down like a hanged man's shroud, and the cannons on both sides of the hull were blackened, like the empty eye sockets of a giant beast.
This is a ghost ship!
It appeared silently on the river surface during the downpour, exuding a chilling and deathly stillness.
The moment Wu Heng saw it, he clearly felt a cold, malicious 'gaze' coming from the ship, firmly locking onto the vehicle he was in.
That was a hatred directed at the living.
At that moment, the driver of a silver sedan that was originally at the very front of the bridge and about to leave it also saw this unbelievable scene. Startled, he slammed on the gas pedal, intending to flee. He was a local and had heard some things about it.
Just as the vehicle accelerated, the driver suddenly felt a violent chill run through his body, as if he had been plunged into an ice cave.
Then, something strange happened. Cold, murky river water began to seep out of nowhere from the dry carriage. Water droplets dripped from the ceiling and spread rapidly on the carpet, filling the air with the stench of river mud.
"What's going on? It's leaking?" the driver muttered in alarm, instinctively turning around to check.
A wet, swollen, pale hand, with black mud stuffed under its fingernails, suddenly reached out from the empty back seat, its chilling touch piercing the air, and grabbed his head.
"Waaah! Waaah!" The driver stared wide-eyed in terror, struggling desperately, but he couldn't break free from the grip of that cold, immense force.
Even more terrifying, his stomach swelled up rapidly as if being inflated, a strange gurgling sound came from his throat, and his mouth opened wide uncontrollably, as if an invisible force was squeezing him from inside.
"puff--!"
A stream of murky river water, mixed with water plants and silt, gushed out of his mouth like a high-pressure water gun.
The water was raging and rapid, even tearing his own mouth apart, with blood splattering onto the steering wheel and windshield.
But this is just the beginning.
Immediately afterwards, icy river water began to spurt from his nostrils, ears, and even the corners of his eyes, as if all the fluids in his body were being forcibly expelled along with the river water that appeared out of nowhere! (End of Chapter)
