Chapter 1128 Deception
"It's him."
Dean looked at the kind photo of Father Peters on the tablet, but his eyes were devoid of any warmth.
They certainly couldn't tell the priest the truth—that they were going to fight an angel.
That would be nothing short of a fantasy; Father Peters would likely think they were insane, or that they would rather be martyred than participate in such a 'blasphemous' act.
The following morning, Sam and Dean, dressed in slightly formal attire, visited the chapel where Father Peters was located, posing as “FBI special agents.”
The two men had solemn expressions and spoke in serious tones.
“Father Peters, we need your help.” Sam’s expression was serious, and his voice carried just the right amount of urgency. “We are investigating an extremely evil cult that recently carried out a bloody sacrifice at Kaiser Cliff.”
He presented several photos of the scene that had been altered to appear even more gruesome.
When Father Peters saw the photograph, he immediately made the sign of the cross, his face filled with grief and sorrow: "God Father, bless these poor lambs, these devils!"
Dean continued, his tone heavy: "Father, we believe they are trying to summon some more powerful dark entity. One of our experts, while tracking them, was unfortunately trapped in an alternate dimension by their evil ritual."
"To rescue him, we need to perform a powerful prayer ceremony at a specific time and at the original ritual site of Kather Cliff, using the power of pure faith to break through the shackles of evil."
Sam added, his eyes sincere: “We’ve tried, but our faith wasn’t strong enough.”
“We need someone like you, someone truly favored by the Lord and with incredibly devout faith, to lead this prayer. This is not only about saving us, but also about completely purifying that desecrated land and stopping the spread of evil!”
Father Peters was moved by the two men's 'righteousness' and their description of the crisis. He gripped the cross to his chest, his eyes gleaming with a sense of mission.
"You people who have sacrificed for the people deserve our respect."
"Moreover, the Lord will not abandon His lamb, nor will He tolerate the rampant evil. If my prayers can help, I will gladly oblige. When shall we set out?"
“We need to find one more thing to ensure everything goes smoothly. We hope you can wait for us for two days. Thank you for your help,” Dean pleaded, bowing deeply.
Seeing the sincerity of the two FBI officers in suits before him, and witnessing the gruesome scene depicted in the photographs, the old priest was moved to tears. He made the sign of the cross while helping the two officers up, promising to do everything in his power.
Notify him whenever needed.
The three of them hugged each other tightly, expressing their affirmation of one another.
Having settled things with the priest, the two brothers hurried off to find Ruby.
We can no longer use normal summoning to find Ruby; that would alert her.
Sam contacted a witch doctor who was skilled at tracking demonic auras through a clandestine black market channel for witchers.
After paying a considerable price, they captured a black-eyed demon. After interrogation, they learned that demonic activity in Van Buren had been unusual recently, seemingly undergoing some kind of selection or purge. One of the traitors was acting mysteriously, but might be hiding in an industrial wasteland in Detroit.
Deep inside an abandoned car factory in Detroit.
Following the witch doctor's vague instructions, Sam, like a hound, used a magnetic field detector to search for any remaining traces of the demon.
Finally, in a network of underground pipes filled with rust and grease, he sensed a familiar, chilling energy belonging to Ruby. "Ruby, it's Sam. I know you're here!" Sam whispered, his voice echoing through the empty pipes.
A gust of cold wind swept by, and Ruby's figure slowly emerged from the shadows. She was still wearing that black leather jacket, but her eyes were filled with vigilance and exhaustion.
"Sam, how did you find this place?" She relaxed a little when she saw that it was just Sam and Dean, but still kept her distance.
Dean didn't waste any words and went straight to the point: "We need your dagger. Lor is trapped in a space created by Heaven and needs it to break free."
Ruby's expression changed instantly upon hearing the names 'Heavenly Space' and 'Lor,' especially upon learning that Wu Heng was trapped; a barely concealed fear flashed in her eyes.
"Heaven... They actually intervened directly! No, I can't get involved in this! Those are angels!"
“Without that dagger, we can’t save him!” Sam stepped closer, his tone firm. “Think about it, if Lor doesn’t get out, who will be the next ‘traitor’ to be punished by Heaven or Hell? Helping him now is helping yourself!”
Ruby's expression shifted rapidly as she struggled internally.
She knew how terrifying Wu Heng was, and she also understood that if Wu Heng was truly imprisoned in Heaven forever, she, as the 'guide' and 'insider,' would definitely not have a good end either.
Ultimately, fear of Wu Heng and a slight consideration for their own future survival outweighed their dread of the angel.
She gritted her teeth, drew the strangely shaped, ominous demon dagger from her waist, and handed it to Sam: "Take this!"
“But don’t expect me to go with you to that damn place. Tell him I did my best!” With that, she quickly retreated and disappeared back into the shadows.
Sam gripped the cold dagger in his hand, sensing the immense dark power it contained, and immediately drove back.
The two brothers immediately split up. He went directly to the cliff to set up the ceremony, while Dean, who was more eloquent, was responsible for keeping Father Peters calm and 'escorting' him to Cather Cliff on time.
The two immediately set off and went to the chapel, where Dean began his superb 'FBI agent' performance.
He accompanied Father Peters and quickly led him to the vicinity of Kaiser Cliff, using various excuses to delay and inspect, ensuring that the priest would not discover anything unusual or change his mind in advance.
Near Kaiser Cliff, Dean, who was accompanying Father Peters to 'inspect the prayer site', felt his cell phone vibrate in his pocket.
He took it out and glanced at it, a fleeting, almost imperceptible smile crossing his face before he quickly adopted a serious expression and said to the priest who was devoutly examining the holy water bottle and the cross:
"Father, time is almost up."
"The command center just sent word that all other preparations are complete and all personnel have been evacuated. We should head to the ceremony site now. Tonight, we rely on Your glory and the Lord's glory to dispel the darkness in this land."
Father Peters nodded solemnly, gripped the cross at his chest, and his eyes were filled with unwavering faith: "May the Lord guide us."
Dean turned around and led the way, a cold smile curving his lips.
He did not deny that he had taken advantage of the priest, but he had no intention of telling the priest the truth, as the priest had been devout all his life and had indeed been doing good deeds.
The angel's actions were unrelated to the priest. (End of Chapter)
