Chapter 1142 Rescue
Without asking for consent or even giving any warning, the Angel of Judgment suddenly raised his still-intact right hand and pointed it at Dean from a distance.
A beam of light containing specific coordinate information instantly traversed a distance of less than a hundred meters, precisely striking Dean's left forearm as he instinctively raised it to block.
"hiss--!"
Dean felt a warmth in his arm, but no pain.
He looked down and saw a lifelike feather pattern, emitting a soft white light, rapidly solidifying on his bronze skin, like an exquisite brand.
The light then faded, turning into a white tattoo.
"Go to the nearest church!" The angel of judgment's urgent and unquestionable command blasted into Dean's ears, making his eardrums buzz. "Then pray in Revelation 6:9-11, and the glory of the Lord will guide you and protect you!"
Dean shook his head violently, staring at the battered figure in the arena with a mixture of shock and anger, and growled in a low voice:
"Hey, who the hell are you?!"
"Did I agree to this? You just stamped my name on me without my consent."
Because the Bible is frequently used during exorcisms, Dean is very familiar with its contents.
The passage in which the angel instructs prayer describes the scene of the martyr's soul crying out to God for justice and judgment beneath the altar.
"Does this bastard want me to go get him reinforcements?"
He was very unhappy about being forced to take on tasks, as if he had become a pawn to be manipulated at will.
Wu Heng's eyes narrowed slightly, but his face instantly switched to a righteous expression completely different from his usual coldness, and he said in a serious tone:
"Let's go, it needs help! No matter what happened before, we must not let these demons that have broken free of their seals flow into the real world now, otherwise innocent people will surely bleed. This is the duty of us demon hunters."
Dean and Sam were both stunned, especially Dean, whose expression was so strange that it looked like he had swallowed a fly. He looked Wu Heng up and down as if he were seeing this person for the first time.
But Dean wasn't stupid. He quickly realized that Wu Heng was trying to make Heaven's performance more convincing, dragging Heaven into the fray and forcing them into a direct conflict with Hell, thus stirring up the waters even more.
"Damn it. You win. I get it!"
Dean spat, feeling disgusted, but admitted that this was the best strategy to break the deadlock and perhaps even gain some intelligence.
"They're trying to escape! Stop them!"
The leading demon sensed Wu Heng and his companions' intentions, roaring as it gave the order, a hint of urgency flashing across its pale face.
Three or four demons immediately changed targets, rushing viciously towards the doorway, accompanied by a stench and black mist.
"Blasphemers, your end has come!"
The angel of judgment roared, and the remaining holy light around it suddenly erupted again as if doused with fuel. The blinding white light instantly engulfed its broken body and temporarily illuminated the entire dim factory.
It completely abandoned any defense, sacrificing the accelerated and complete collapse of this container, and like a burning white meteor, it crashed into the demon that was rushing towards Wu Heng and the other two.
Tsk-!
A demon's claws seized the opportunity to tear open the already tattered clothes and flesh on its back, the wound so deep that bone was visible, and even the slightly pulsating, white-glowing energy core could be seen.
boom!
Another black sphere, brimming with intense negative energy, slammed solidly into its fractured and twisted left arm, instantly turning the entire arm charred and carbonized, resembling a withered tree branch. But it seemed oblivious to the pain, smashing away a demon blocking its path and buying Wu Heng and his companions those crucial few seconds to escape.
"Go!" Sam shouted, and the three of them rushed out of the factory without hesitation, nimbly slipping into the black antelope parked outside.
Dean leaped into the driver's seat, turned the key, and slammed on the gas!
"How come it's working so hard? If it weren't for their pathetic behavior, I would have almost been moved," Dean muttered.
The old car's engine let out a defiant roar, the tires screeched violently against the ground, and the car suddenly shot forward with a push-back feeling, rushing into the street shrouded in night.
"Where's the nearest church?" Dean asked Sam in the passenger seat, his hands gripping the steering wheel and scanning the intersection ahead.
Sam had already taken out his phone, his fingers flying across the screen as he spoke rapidly: "Three o'clock, about five blocks away, St. Jude Cathedral, turn right at the red light ahead!"
St. Jude Cathedral stands out peacefully in the quiet residential area, its spire pointing towards the night sky in the hazy moonlight.
The three parked the car in the shade on the street corner.
Dean pushed open the heavy, intricately carved oak door alone and went inside.
The church was spacious and quiet.
The air was filled with a faint, mixed scent of candle wax and old wood.
Rows of empty benches stretched to the end of the road, with only the eternal lamps enshrined before the altar emitting a steady, faint light, like guardians in the darkness.
Dean took a deep breath and strode toward the pulpit.
On the table lay a Bible wrapped in leather, its edges worn.
He picked up the Bible, turned to chapter six of Revelation, and by the light of the eternal flame, found the designated passage.
He glanced down at the feather patterns on his left arm, pursed his lips, but still recited in a deep and clear voice as required:
“I saw the souls of the slain beneath the altar, crying out in a loud voice, ‘Lord, how long will you not judge those who dwell on the earth and avenge our blood?’”
As his voice echoed through the empty church, the feather patterns on his arms seemed to come alive, and the light gradually became brighter and more fluid.
Finally, the light pattern completely detached from his skin, transforming into a soft, milky-white stream of light that, like a serpent, meandered into the pages of the Bible that Dean was holding.
The words on the yellowed pages seemed to come alive instantly, with each character lighting up a faint golden glow that lasted for several seconds before slowly fading away.
At the same time, the holy water in a chalice next to the pulpit, which was originally calm and still, suddenly began to ripple with tiny, dense ripples, spreading outwards in circles, as if an invisible pebble had been thrown into it. The surface of the water even reflected strange halos of light, which lasted for more than ten seconds before gradually returning to calm.
After the recitation was completed, the tattoo completely blended into the Bible and disappeared.
The ripples in the holy water completely subsided, as if nothing had happened.
Dean put down the heavy Bible in his hands, walked out of the church with a blank and confused look on his face, shrugged at Wu Heng and Sam who were waiting by the car, and spread his hands:
"That's it! They chant some sutra, it glows a little, bubbles a bit, and then that's it. Is this how they treat Heaven's emergency hotline? Not even a customer service response!" (End of Chapter)
