Chapter 1313 Cage
Blood began to flow from the ground.
It wasn't human blood; its color was abnormal, and it kept being squeezed out of the soil.
The light, which should have been a bright white, was filtered into a sickly, greenish-yellow after passing through the distorted area of the summoning, like the color of an old shroud.
The light seemed to have been distorted; the shadows on the ground illuminated by this light became unusually deep, with blurred edges, as if they might come to life at any moment.
“Migration rate 68%.” Wu Heng’s voice remained steady, but slightly faster. “The prison space is being pulled into this area. Everyone, pay attention. We may see cognitive interference phenomena next. Stay focused and don’t panic or let your mind wander.”
Before the words were even finished, something unusual had already happened.
A young witcher on patrol suddenly stopped and stared at his hand. His hand was becoming transparent, not disappearing, but turning into a translucent, glass-like texture, through which the bones and blood vessels inside could be seen pulsating slowly.
"My hand," he said, his voice trembling.
"It's an illusion." Dean rushed over and slapped him on the back of the neck, using the pain to stimulate his nerves and remind him, "Concentrate, this is a sensory illusion caused by spatial fluctuations!"
The young witcher shook his head violently, and when he looked at his hand again, it had returned to normal, but cold sweat had soaked through his underwear.
Similar phenomena appeared sporadically in various places around the center of this equilibrium zone:
Some saw the ground writhing like intestines; some heard the cries of their dead relatives; some smelled odors that didn't exist at all, like rotting flesh, sulfur, and decaying flowers.
They are all 'radiation' emanating from the prison space.
That place itself is composed of pain, despair, and madness, and Lucifer's dark power constantly embellishes that space; its very existence pollutes reality.
"Accelerate the traction," Wu Heng ordered. "Sam, overload the auxiliary array. If it can't hold, abandon it. Dean, take your men and retreat one kilometer away to establish a second line of defense."
"And what about you?" Dean asked.
"I need to finalize the positioning and integration."
Communication was immediately cut off.
On the seventh underground floor, Wu Heng took a deep breath and placed both hands on the core control node of the area. The runes on the balance gloves were dazzlingly bright, and grayish-white energy rose from his body like tangible flames.
The four-colored beams of light suddenly doubled in thickness.
The distorted areas on the ground trembled violently, and the edges began to appear, like trying to fill a transparent plastic bag with murky water. The plastic bag itself was invisible, but the outline of the water defined the shape of the bag.
Now everyone can see it.
This is a huge, irregular, semi-transparent bubble, more than one kilometer in diameter, suspended directly below the guild headquarters.
Inside the bubble was another space, with twisted black rock pillars, flowing rivers of fluorescent lava, and ash-like dust clouds floating in the air.
The most eerie thing is that the surface of those rock pillars is slowly writhing. If you look closely, you will find that it is a relief of countless painful faces, screaming silently.
The prison space was forcibly dragged into the real dimension.
"Traction rate 91% 94% 97%" Fine beads of sweat seeped from Wu Heng's forehead. This was not only due to physical exertion, but also to immense mental pressure.
He is single-handedly fighting against the natural repulsion of the entire space, "Final stage. Anchoring!"
He pointed his finger, and a drop of blood mixed with the power of balance was sprinkled onto the core of the magic circle.
The blood mist exploded, transforming into countless fine, grayish-white threads that shot into the sky along the four-colored light pillars, but were blocked by the special isolation of the sixth layer, preventing them from leaking out.
The huge space bubble plunged into it from below, the threads taut and pulled, like a sewing needle stitching two pieces of cloth together.
The bubbles began to rise, slowly, but irresistibly.
It penetrated the ground, the air, and matter, rising from 5,000 meters underground to 3,000 meters, and then to 1,000 meters. With each meter of ascent, the pressure on the ground increased, causing buildings to sway slightly, windows to crack, and unsecured items to topple over.
Five hundred meters.
The bottom of the bubble is almost touching the ground of the guild headquarters.
The moment the ground touches the edge of the bubble, it begins to deform like a melting candle; this is assimilation at the spatial level.
Concrete and steel bars are transforming into something else, something that conforms to the laws of prison space.
"President!" Bobby shouted into the communicator, "The fourth to seventh basement floors of headquarters are starting to change!"
“As expected.” Wu Heng’s voice was a little hoarse. “Continue to anchor. As long as the core area remains stable, the outer buildings can be abandoned.”
Three hundred meters underground.
Now everyone can see the details inside the bubble. Some of the faces on the rock pillars are clearly non-human, such as demons, fallen angels, and ancient alien creatures.
They all had their mouths open and their eyes were empty, but Dean swore that as he stared at them, one of the faces rolled its eyes and looked at him.
One hundred meters.
The bottom of the bubble touched the ground.
There was no explosion, but rather ripples spread out like water. Concrete, soil, and turf all transformed into part of the cage space the moment they came into contact with the bubbles, along with black rocks, ash dust, and fluorescent moss.
The conversion range is expanding, spreading outward from the contact point at a slow but steady pace: ten meters, twenty meters, fifty meters.
"It's done." Wu Heng finally let go, swaying slightly, but quickly regained his balance.
He looked at the holographic projection, which showed that the prison space had been successfully fixed in the area underground of the guild headquarters and within a radius of one hundred meters.
It's like a giant tumor growing on the body in the real world.
The phantom images of bubbles on the ground began to fade and eventually disappeared.
But the transformed area beneath the ground remains, like an ugly scar, emanating an unsettling aura.
The communication channel was silent.
Everyone stared at that area, unsure what to say.
Finally, Dean broke the silence: "So...we're living on top of a prison where Lucifer was imprisoned?"
"To be precise, prisons are an integral part of our world."
Wu Heng stepped out of the magic circle, and the four rings automatically flew back into his hand. He put the rings away and looked at the black earth in the monitor screen: "And the next step is to invite the master of the prison back."
Hope is a dangerous thing.
As the Witcher Guild's leaders gazed at the prison space successfully anchored beneath their headquarters, and watched Wu Heng calmly announce, "The next step is to invite Lucifer back," a long-lost, almost burning hope began to surge within their chests.
With plans in place, methods ready, and even cages prepared for imprisonment, perhaps this war that has dragged on for thousands of years can truly come to an end in their generation.
Bobby even allowed himself an extra glass of whiskey that night.
Sam guarded Castio outside the medical bay all night, but left quietly. Dean, on the other hand, led a team to cordon off the area of the transformed 'Cage Scar,' humming an old song off-key as they set up the perimeter. (End of Chapter)
