Chapter 1359 Convergence
Castio carefully examined himself and found that his angelic power was almost exhausted, two of his ribs were broken, and every breath brought him excruciating pain.
But he still managed to stand up and look around, after all, this place didn't seem safe.
Dean and Sam were nowhere to be seen.
He was alone with this yellow river, which seemed like pus constantly seeping from a wound on the earth.
He walked aimlessly along the riverbank, and before he had gone far, he was attacked.
Before them appeared a group of monsters, varying in size and shape.
But they all share common characteristics: a pale yellow appearance, an inhuman structure, and a pure thirst for life energy.
These monsters crawled out of the river, or emerged from the fleshy tumors, or jumped down from the bone tower, surging towards Castio like a tide.
Castio had no weapons, only his hands and the last bit of angelic power.
He raised his hand, and a faint white light shone from his palm.
The light spread like a thin mist, causing the monsters it touched to scream and their skin to smoke, but it only slowed them down, not killed them.
The quantity is simply too large, and it keeps coming in continuously.
He quickly retreated, leaning against a bone tower. Monsters surrounded him, and he could smell the stench of decay coming from their mouths.
Just as a monster opened its mouth to bite his throat
Gunshots ring out!
The monster's head exploded instantly, spraying yellow slime all over the ground, followed by more gunshots, precise bursts, each shot hitting the monster's vitals.
A gap was torn open in the encirclement, and several figures rushed in, wielding modified firearms with smoke still rising from their muzzles.
"This way, come with me," the leader shouted to Castio. She was a woman in her thirties with scars on her face and sharp eyes. "Hurry!"
Without hesitation, Castio charged toward the gap.
The woman and her companion fought and retreated, leading him in one direction.
There was a metal structure half-buried underground, like the wreckage of some kind of spaceship, with a heavily corroded outer shell but an intact entrance.
They rushed in, and the woman pressed a switch on the wall. A heavy metal door slid down, sealing the entrance.
The sound of monsters scratching and banging could be heard outside the door, but the door was thick, so it was safe for the time being.
Castio slumped to the ground, panting heavily.
The woman walked up to him, knelt down, and carefully examined him: "You're not a creature of hell, nor a demon, you're... an angel?"
Not every Witcher in the Witcher Guild knows each other, but because of the Angel Potion, she recognized this power.
“I used to be,” Castio said. “Now… I’m just Castio, and I’m also a member of the Witcher Guild.”
Upon hearing this, the woman immediately used her witcher's instrument to scan Castio's face.
Although there is no internet here, an offline database still exists.
They quickly realized it was one of their own and were immediately relieved.
“I’m Liz,” the woman introduced herself, then pointed to the five people behind her. “They are my team, or rather, they used to be. We were also sucked in.”
“We’ve discovered something: the flow of time is different here.” Liz smiled wryly. “One day here is like an eternity outside.”
She stood up and walked deeper into the wreckage, where a makeshift workbench had been erected, displaying various homemade weapons and collected supplies. "Where is this place?" Castio asked.
“Clearly, Purgatory, we’ve arrived at Leviathan’s homeland.” A young man sighed as he loaded a gun with bullets made from sharpened monster bones. “It’s God’s junkyard of failed creations. All the abandoned, out-of-control, and too dangerous creations were thrown here to fend for themselves. Leviathan is just one of them.”
"This point was already made during the meeting, and it aligns with the environment described therein."
Castio looked at them; each of them was ragged and wounded, but there was a tenacious, unyielding light in their eyes.
I immediately felt guilty, because all of this was caused by him.
"You've been fighting all this time?"
“What else can we do?” Liz said helplessly. “If we don’t resist, are we just waiting to die, or becoming part of those monsters? There were seventeen of us when we first came in, and now there are only six left. We’ve set up a few temporary outposts, collected supplies, hunted lone monsters, and occasionally rescued other people who were sucked in.”
She looked at Castio: "Do you have any other companions?"
“I’ve only seen you guys so far,” Castio shook his head slightly, “but Dean, Sam, and… many witchers were probably sucked in as well.”
Katz's eyes lit up. She didn't know Castio, but she definitely knew Sam and Dean, who were high-ranking members of the guild: "We should find them. If we can gather more people, we might be able to... hold out a little longer."
“It’s not just about holding on.” Castio leaned against the wall to stand up, wincing in pain from his ribs. “We have to go back.”
The room fell silent.
"Go back?" The young man laughed, but his laughter was full of bitterness. "How can we go back? The spatial rift is one-way; you can only go in, not out. We've tried everything. We've blown up energy nodes, dug underground, and even tried to summon demons for help, but it only attracted more monsters. It's useless."
“No.” Castio shook his head. “There must be a way. If Leviathan could open a passage to get in, there must be a way to get out. We need to find that way.”
Liz stared at him for a long time.
Due to the flow of time, even entering Purgatory ten seconds later could result in a difference of several hours or even days; the time difference in the passage is not fixed.
Liz only discovered these things after communicating with her teammates.
“You’re just like we were when we first woke up.” She gave a wry smile. “Still clinging to hope. Well, if you really want to find a way, you first have to survive, and to survive here, you need strength.”
She tossed Castio a knife, its blade made from the spine of some kind of monster, the edge gleaming with a dark red light.
“Angelic power will be suppressed here, but you can regenerate it,” Liz said. “With the energy of purgatory, with the will to kill, with anything you can find, you will be different, but… at least you will live.”
Castio took the knife and gripped it tightly.
The handle is rough and uncomfortable to hold.
He thought of Dean, he thought of Sam, he thought of the days they fought side by side, the nights they argued about tactics in the motel, the determination to fight against all of heaven to save one person.
He once wanted to save the world.
They wanted to be God's instrument, to carry out justice, and to purify all defilement.
But those grand goals seem so empty and distant in this despairing land of purgatory.
Now, all he wants to do is find those two people, and find all the Witchers.
All I want is for everyone to live and for these tragedies caused by me to end.
All I want is... to go home. (End of Chapter)
