Chapter 1377 Castio's Return

The torn passage walls seemed to be smoothed out by an invisible hand, becoming smooth and solid, radiating a translucent, stable dark red glow.

The unsettling sense of spatial distortion disappeared, replaced by a solid, reliable feeling of a 'door'.

The diameter of the passageway was even slightly enlarged.

Wu Hengping's calm voice came through the communicator; this time it was a global broadcast.

"The passage has been solidified, with the Infernal Lord's core as the secondary anchor point, forming a stable loop with the guild anchor point. The passage can remain open and closed for a long time. Dean, Sam, execute the final evacuation procedure."

"First the wounded, then the combat personnel, and finally you. The Tracker team's last coordinates have been updated, and there is a faint life signal. You take an elite team to meet them and return quickly."

Sam and Dean exchanged a glance.

“I’ll go,” Sam said immediately. “You’ll just be a burden if you go like this.”

Dean wanted to argue, but the excruciating pain in his body forced him to grimace. "...Be careful, drag those fifty lads back with you, no matter what."

Sam nodded and quickly assembled a team of thirty elite men, all of whom were the most skilled and best equipped.

Benny silently walked up to him, his meaning quite clear.

"Are you alright? Are your injuries healed?"

"Alright, there's just some residue left in the wound, but I'm perfectly fine for fighting." Benny shook his bandaged left arm, his right hand already gripping a specially made long-barreled pistol.

Sam said no more.

Thirty-one people, like sharp arrows, shot out from a temporary gap in the defense line, rushing northwest towards that final unknown coordinate.

The next hour was a well-organized yet tense evacuation.

The wounded were prioritized for being carried into a stable passageway on stretchers.

Then came the combat personnel who had been rotated out. They were all covered in blood and exhausted, but when they stepped into the dark golden light gate, their eyes were filled with a sense of dazed excitement at being reborn.

The defensive line was gradually shrinking, but the remaining witchers were still holding off the onslaught of those crazed creatures.

Dean leaned against a section of broken wall, watching the flow of people into the passageway.

The excruciating pain in his body eased slightly, but the feeling of weakness intensified.

A medic tried to inject him with a painkiller that had a strong sedative effect, but he waved him away, saying, "Wait for Sam to come back."

Time passed second by second.

The defensive line has shrunk to within 100 meters of the crack entrance.

There are fewer than two hundred demon hunters left to guard the gate, and the monsters outside seem to have sensed that the 'gate' is about to close, so their attacks have become even more frenzied.

Just as Dean was about to rush out to find someone, gunshots and shouts rang out from outside the defensive line.

Sam and the others are back!

Thirty-one people went out, and more than forty more came back – the survivors of the Tracker Squad!
They were in a worse state than any previous group of rescued people; almost everyone was seriously injured and dressed in rags, like a group of ghosts crawling out of the deepest part of hell.

Captain Walker was being supported by two men, with only one leg remaining, but he was still alive.

Sam and Benny were at the back of the group, fighting and retreating, and they clearly had new injuries.

"Close the gate, quick!" Sam yelled at the witchers guarding the defensive line.

The remaining witchers unleashed their last strength, using a barrage of borax bombs and heavy fire to temporarily repel the pursuers before quickly retreating.

Sam's squad and the survivors stumbled and rushed into the last line of defense.

Dean struggled to his feet, and together with Benny, they supported the nearly unconscious Witcher, rushing towards the dark red portal that was within reach.

"Everyone, retreat!" Dean roared with all his might. The last of the witchers surged into the passage like a receding tide.

Dean and Sam were among the last to enter, just as Dean's body was halfway through the portal. He glanced back.

The infernal sky was a dark red, the earth writhed, hideous creatures surged like a tide, and the massive remains of the abyss lord were rapidly decaying.

"Fuck, see you again!" He spat and disappeared into the portal.

The Witcher Guild, a deep underground chamber.

The Lucifer's Cage, which was originally suspended above the giant crater in Grantzpass, has now returned to its original location in the guild's underground area.

However, the shape of the cage has changed, with dark red, vein-like energy patterns wrapped around it. The source of the patterns is connected to a newly appeared, stable dark red vortex channel in the center of the secret chamber.

This is the human end of the purgatory passage locked in a cage.

Wu Heng stood at the exit of the passage, his posture still upright and his expression calm.

The light from the balancing glove had gone out, and the puppet evil spirit hovered quietly behind him, its dark gold color seeming to have deepened.

Ripples spread out from the passage, and one figure after another staggered out from it.

First, the seriously wounded were quickly taken care of by the waiting medical team, followed by the combat personnel who were supporting each other and covered in gunpowder and blood.

Finally, there were Dean, Sam, and Benny, supporting each other and almost unable to stand.

When the last Witcher, the unconscious man carried in by Dean and Benny, finally set foot on solid ground, Wu Heng raised his hand and pressed his handprint onto the core of a complex magic circle on the wall of the secret chamber.

"The solidified spell array is finally closed."

The dark red light in the passage stabilized, and the vortex's rotation became slow and constant, like a delicate, locked nebula.

The restless aura of purgatory within the secret chamber was quickly neutralized and dissipated by the guild's purifying force field.

Everyone who was still standing looked at Wu Heng, at the passageway, and then at each other.

More than 800 supporters, 1,000 lost souls, including the last 40 or so rescued, and nearly 100 heroic spirits who remained forever in purgatory, all returned.

The room was silent, save for heavy breathing and suppressed sighs of sorrow.

Wu Heng's gaze swept over the tired, dirty but vibrant faces, over the shoulders supporting each other, and over the hands that, even in their weakness, still gripped their weapons tightly.

"This rescue mission from Purgatory," he said in a low voice, but clearly to everyone, "has officially ended after seven days. It's a testament to everyone's hard work that so many people survived. Go and rest now."

There were no cheers, no applause.

Only deeper gasps for breath, and more people unable to contain their overwhelming sense of relief at surviving such a catastrophe.

Dean released the wounded man from his support, slumped to the ground, leaned against the cold metal wall, and closed his eyes.

Sam sat down next to him, equally exhausted.

Benny leaned against the wall a little further away, head down, looking at his still-bandaged left arm, lost in thought.

In reality, they really are back.

Wu Heng turned and walked towards the exit of the secret room. He stopped at the door and looked back at the solid, dark red passage.

This door is no longer a temporary escape route, but a controlled, two-way portal that may bring more unknowns.

The threat of purgatory has not disappeared; it has simply taken a different form.

In heaven, however, a storm began to brew with Castio's return. (End of Chapter)
