Chapter 837 Interlude: The New Dice (Part 2)
A little while later, after the group of former brothers sat down to exchange the latest news and began exchanging their second round of snacks ("You guys eat less! We'll get caught! I'll be the one who gets yelled at!"), the camera finally brought good news: Fugrim's zookeeper would soon be leaving the inner area.
“What’s the difference between this and being late?” Ruth complained. He had clearly adapted well to this foreign land and quickly got to know his master, his former offspring, Bjorn.
Poor (?) young Bjorn was a promising young man who came to Seres to start a business and make a name for himself. But after participating in a rescue and adoption event, he suddenly felt that "this dog is special to me" and kindly took in the dying Alaskan Malamute.
Who would have thought that he had been a space wolf for ten thousand years, and now he had not only adopted an Ara, but had also invited his father himself back to his home.
Needless to say, chaos ensued, but now that they had realized they were Bjorn, the little wolf guards had absolutely no chance against Russ.
"So how are your wolf guards doing now?"
Rus glanced at Peturabo.
"They're cramming me on this stuff like crazy, buying all sorts of materials and making me read them—frankly, it's too expensive! These fragile things are being sold at the price of gold! It's outrageous. When are you going to get Ramizann familiar with him? That would save a lot of money and time."
“Don’t even think about using his study, even if Bjorn is a link in the chain of fate,” Peturabo warned. “But if Bjorn is looking for a new job, I can get him a job at Fricks’ construction firm.”
“Alright. You said it yourself.” Ruth laughed, clearly having achieved one of his goals. “I’ll find a way to tell him not to fight with your offspring.”
"He'd better not even have that thought," the Border Collie said sternly. "Besides, can't the two of you communicate directly with your minds?"
“Unfortunately, no.” Lemanrus shook his head, his thick fur swaying. “This ability seems to currently only exist between you and him.”
“Oh.” Peturabo nodded haughtily, his tail curling up.
Then another set of debugging noises came from the camera. Then Ferrus's synthesized voice came from inside again.
"Brothers, I think we're ready."
“Very well, then.” Peturabo picked up the paper in front of him. It looked like it was all scribbles by dogs, but it was actually a coded script he had invented, so that it wouldn’t matter if it was accidentally seen.
"Let me explain the main purpose of summoning you all here..."
He paused, then said, "'Lamizann Carlosini's' new dice are starting to arrive one after another."
The room fell silent, then Leon let out a rather unfriendly sneer, followed by the bewildered expressions of a few animals and the thoughtful expressions of others.
“You might as well be more explicit,” Lehmann Ruth said. “What does his buying new dice have to do with us? What’s so important that it’s worth summoning us?”
Peturabo glanced at him sideways.
Have you recently felt your soul entangled with the other side... or, in your words, the 'lifeline' pulling more noticeably?
A very unnatural shadow crossed the wolf king's eyes: if he were in his original Lemanrus form, this slight movement would not have been noticed by Perturabo at all, but as an Alaskan Malamute, it would be a little impossible to conceal what was in his eyes and the body language of his tail with posture, laughter, baring his teeth or the clanging of weapons.
“So, yes, right?” Peturabo turned to the other animals. “And you?”
Every Primarch who was incarnated here began to feel somewhat uncomfortable: after all, when you realize that you are on the other side of a distant spacetime, a being over ten feet tall, with tens of thousands of bloodline offspring, loyal subordinates, and the power to destroy a world or even an entire galaxy with a mere gesture, but here you don't even have a human form, well, it's normal to feel displaced and uncomfortable, right?
“Alright, thank you. I know you can all sense it.” Perturabo took in the expressions of all the animals, but Loka’s increasingly calm and serene smile made him feel a little uneasy.
However, the number and activity frequency of squirrels in the vicinity recently reported by Clarkes and others have not shown any particularly...significant increase. "What does this have to do with dice?" Guilliman asked. "You don't mean to say that his power has grown to the point where he can influence our universe's entity just by sitting here playing dice, do you? Haha, even in our universe with its warp, that's just too...laughable...?"
Blue Cat's speech gradually became hesitant as the Border Collie's face grew serious, and the smile gradually faded from his round cheeks.
"Are you kidding me? Right?"
Peturabo watched him calmly.
The otherworldly deities in animal forms looked at each other.
“…Alright, tell us who they are, and what your thoughts and guesses are about this?” Leon began. “Since you’ve called us here, you must already have a full understanding of this.”
"That's it."
Perturabo said, “His power increases in a reciprocal way… First, you must understand this: when he influences the other side, the other side will inevitably respond to him. This is unavoidable, even for him, because you and I know that everything either ends or cycles, depending on which system you are in, but it is always one of these two. The eternal existence turning into light is only because the end is too far away for light, so it appears as if it were eternal.”
His brothers nodded slightly, their fur and feathers shimmering with iridescent colors in the sunlight.
"We've been very successful at reshaping the river of time and reweaving destiny on the other side... extremely successful. But recently, something unexpected happened. He declared a demonic entity a fragment of a star god, and he succeeded. This wasn't rejected by the other universe, you understand? Such an event was completely unexpected in all predictions. But he succeeded."
"What does this mean?"
"This shows that his power is more solid, and his subconscious understanding of things that can never be observed in the other universe is more detailed and comprehensive, to the point that he can make the other universe agree with his interpretations," the dog patted its paw with its paw. "Now we must make sure he realizes what he can do. And now the future paths left for us and them on the other side are... almost only a few visible ones."
"So what is the connection between this and dice?"
“His influence over the other side has increased with his power,” Peturabo replied. “And his habit after receiving the new dice for each legion is to suddenly pull out a few and start rolling them. You can’t know what the dice he rolls at that moment represent, but it must be related to that legion, which has led to a surge in the calculations under the Well of Eternity—completely insufficient.”
"...Oh my god."
Magnus murmured.
"What do you mean?!" Ruth shouted.
“A real chaos (CHAOS) event will occur. There will be no malice, no goodwill, it will be completely random and absolutely neutral.”
“And the probability of such random events increases significantly with the factions represented by these dice,” Peturabo added.
"So what legions does he currently command?"
“Good question,” Peturabo said. “As far as I know, most of the Legions have, and even alien dice. I suggest you get moving and look at as much information as you can, even though it might be lost during your integration or any unification process—though it’s better to delete some rumors, though. Because you never know when you’ll be thrown back to face your own foolish self, or worse.”
“Shit,” Riemann Russ said.
This statement undoubtedly represents the sentiments of the attendees at that moment.
