Hogwarts starts with stealing power.

Chapter 682 Gaining Lupin's Friendship

The Weasley twins took Lin Xia's advice and went to see Professor Lupin the next day.

Professor Lupin was still in the school clinic at this time, and Mrs. Pomfrey insisted that he must be hospitalized for observation for three days.

They can only return to school to teach after it is confirmed that there are no health problems.

The school originally planned to have his classes replaced by other professors, but now that he has woken up, McGonagall and Lupin discussed it and ultimately decided to postpone the Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

There's no need for other professors to substitute; he can simply make up for the classes that were rescheduled later.

The Weasley twins had a free period in the morning, and they went to the school infirmary during that period.

The weather was nice today, and a few rays of sunlight streamed in through the window of the school clinic, shining on Professor Lupin's brown hair and making his melancholy eyes seem much brighter.

Unlike other patients who sat weakly in bed, he didn't sit or lie down, holding a high-level magic book in his hand.

The twins glanced at it; the book was titled "Mind Control."

They glanced at it and quickly looked away.

With just one glance, they felt that the cover of the magic book was distorted, and an eye seemed about to open in the very center.

Lupin noticed the commotion and looked up.

Upon seeing that it was the Weasley twins, a hint of joy appeared on his calm expression, and he said happily, "You've finally come! I've been waiting for you for so long!"

George and Fred looked at each other; this was a scene they had never imagined.

Because Professor Lupin overdosed on the potion without authorization, then announced that the potion had failed to work and caused him to fall into a coma, and finally came up with the obviously perfunctory reason that it was incompatible with raw meat to fool them.

The twins already had a bad impression of Lupin.

Therefore, they were prepared for Professor Lu Ping to make things difficult for them this time.

but now……

It didn't go according to their plan at all!

George took a flower from behind him, placed it on Professor Lupin's bedside table, and said with a grin, "Professor, I wish you a speedy recovery."

Lu Ping smiled very faintly, and suddenly said, "I think if I had been rude to you just now, you wouldn't have taken out this flower, would you?"

Fred said, "No, Professor, you're underestimating us. We treat all patients with the utmost respect, no matter who they are."

Lupin remained noncommittal, not dwelling on the matter, but instead inquired about the progress of their potion testing.

Fred said meaningfully, "Shortly after the professor fell into a coma, the other professors in the academy became interested in this potion."

They wanted to investigate what kind of potion could cause an adult wizard to fall into a coma immediately after taking it. Perhaps there were other possibilities, but we weren't entirely sure.

George added, "Oh, by the way, one thing that surprised us was that Professor Snape also applied to test our potion."

Lupin's eyes flickered slightly: "Snape is a Potions Master. Your potions are excellent, and you have captured a trace of the essence of Ravenclaw's crown. It's normal for him to be curious."

Fred looked at him intently: "Professor, from what you're saying, you're quite satisfied with this potion, but why do you show such dissatisfaction to others?"
Those who don't know the situation might think you took one of our magic potions, which caused the accident, and that it had no effect whatsoever.

This is a questioning of Lupin's public statements, point by point.

Contrary to expectations, Lu Ping gave a wry smile and surprisingly agreed quite sincerely.

"I deliberately leaked this information, but please believe me, I meant no harm. I just didn't want others to know that I reacted very well to this potion."

The twins frowned in unison.

A strong reaction?

Lupin noticed the doubt in their eyes and said, "I have seen your test reports. Many students who took this potion have improved their logical thinking and problem-solving abilities, have clearer minds, and are more likely to solve problems that they couldn't think of before."

But I took this potion not to solve the problem, but to find a scene that has been hidden deep in my memory.

These were images I could never find no matter how hard I searched. I used the effects of the potion to overcome the physical barriers and find the information I wanted.

But precisely because of this, after the potion's effects wear off, I will be so exhausted that I will fall into a coma.

Because the process of searching for these forgotten memories is a process of fighting against one's own body.

The twins suddenly realized, "So that's how it is!"
Thinking about it this way, the applications of the [Inspiration and Creativity] potion are far more extensive than they imagined.

Lupin spoke up, "Because of me, your potions have been misunderstood. I will make compensation. Is there anything you want?"

The Weasley twins exchanged a glance, and George spoke up, "Professor, please allow us a moment to think."

Lupin said, "No need to rush. My promise is always valid. Just come to me whenever you need my help."

The Weasley twins left the infirmary with big smiles on their faces. What they thought would be a tough negotiation turned out to be a very unexpected and pleasant surprise.

Professor Lupin revealed to them other uses for the [Inspiration] potion, but after consideration, the twins decided not to reveal these uses to the public.

First of all, Lupin didn't want anyone to know that he used a potion to try and recover his memories.

If this gets out, Professor Lupin's promise to them will certainly be null and void. They will not only fail to gain the professor's friendship, but may also gain his hostility.

Another point is that they didn't want to make this potion too complicated, so they just said it was a potion to aid thinking.

However, after they returned to the lab, they still reported their conversation with Lu Ping to Lin Xia.

After Professor Lu Ping's incident, they received guidance from Lin Xia, which enabled them to successfully conduct a crisis public relations operation.

Far from instilling fear in students and professors, the potion became incredibly popular, all thanks to Lin Xia's guidance.

They remembered this favor and were willing to reveal some secrets to her.

Lin Xia agreed with their approach after listening to their story.

"In fact, many potions have multiple effects, but we must first highlight the main effect."

A potion that is too all-powerful will not be remembered, because it can cure everything, but it can cure nothing.

Highlight its primary function, so that people will think of it whenever they encounter trouble.

Lin Xia changed the subject: "As for Professor Lu Ping's matter, let's just leave it at that."

Professor Lupin is quite strong. Among all the professors at Hogwarts, he might not be in the top three in combat strength, but he is certainly in the top ten.

Many excellent students can't beat him; congratulations, you've gained a powerful ally.

A smile flickered in Lin Xia's eyes.

It has to be said that ever since the Weasley twins were brought into the lab, they have been able to create some surprises every now and then.

She was right; the twins were lively, quick-witted, and very adept at social interactions.

Researchers who are good at both interpersonal relationships and research are actually quite rare.

Most researchers are rather introverted, and it is often this kind of temperament that makes them more able to endure tedious research.

Furthermore, the long hours spent conducting research, in isolation from the world, caused many to lose the ability to communicate with others. But Lin Xia didn't want to mold everyone into dull researchers.

The researchers who come out of her lab, while not necessarily having to be extremely cunning, must at least be shrewd enough not to suffer losses.

Lin Xia is also studying the Ghost Story Candy today. She had previously seen how the complete Ghost Story Candy was made through spirit writing.

The door to success was already half open for her; she had even solved the specific steps of the production process.

The only problem she needs to solve now is the issue of raw materials.

It is actually very difficult to deduce the actual material based solely on what is seen in the image.

Most of the materials used in current research are composite materials, rather than a single material.

If it were a potion, it would be a little better, because each step in making a potion requires showing the original ingredients first, and then processing them.

However, the recipe for the "Ghost Stories Candy" clearly doesn't show all the ingredients.

When Hermione made candy, the materials she used were pre-processed composite materials, but even so, the process was still somewhat complicated.

This is not just ordinary candy, but magical candy from the magical world.

So today, she started studying the materials.

More than a dozen similar materials have been found so far, but Lin Xia still feels that there is a key material that has not been found.

She repeatedly recalled the details of the scene, always feeling that she had missed something.

Lin Xia walked out of the laboratory and saw Harry and Ron discussing something in the common room, while Neville was frantically taking notes.

She went over and noticed that Neville's notes were very fragmented, so she asked, "What knowledge do you want to know?"

A voice suddenly rang in his mind, startling Neville and causing his body to tremble.

He turned his head and saw that it was Lin Xia, and breathed a sigh of relief.

Nave said shyly, "I don't know what to write down. I just feel that what they said is very important, and I want to write it all down so that I can go back to my dorm and study it little by little."

Lin Xia shook her head and said calmly, "But what you're doing is too inefficient. You don't even understand what they're saying."

Recording information without understanding it means that even if you review it later, you won't grasp the meaning.

Ron said in a low voice, "Neville, I know you're eager to keep up with us, but this can't be rushed. I think you'd be better off figuring out what we mean first."

Ron and Harry both know how hard Neville works.

Every time he returned to his dormitory, when he wasn't on patrol, Neville would lie on his bed, silently flipping through his notes and reciting them paragraph by paragraph.

After reading it aloud, he began to try to memorize it.

He was trying to understand the meaning of those words in his own way.

It was clumsy and inefficient, but touching.

Because Neville was so eager to keep up with them and worked so hard, Harry and Ron didn't know how to bring these words up.

They were reluctant to smear Nawi, telling him that doing so was futile.

But Lin Xia didn't have this concern.

She simply noticed that Neville's note-taking was incorrect and pointed it out directly.

Neville scratched his head. "I know it's not good to do this, but I don't know how to understand what these words mean. My foundation is really too poor, so I thought of memorizing them by rote."

He looked dejected as he said this.

Lin Xia smiled and said, "If your foundation is weak, then you should work on it. You can't become a fat person overnight."

She thought for a moment and said, "In that case, you won't need to stay with Harry and Ron anymore. They have other tasks to do, and if you can't keep up with them, I'll assign you another task."

She chose Ron and Harry to mentor Neville because she thought they were roommates and had a good relationship, and that Ron and Harry would teach Neville everything they knew.

But she misjudged one thing.

Not everyone has the talent to be a teacher.

Clearly, Harry didn't, and Ron certainly didn't either.

They didn't even know how to teach Neville what books to read.

Actually, if they were just a little more careful and thought back, they could simply find the book that Lin Xia had asked them to read and have Neville read it as well.

Forget it, I'm not counting on the two of them.

Based on Neville's knowledge, Lin Xia gave him a book list.

This book list is even simpler and more basic than the one given to Ron and Harry back then; Neville's foundation is not even as good as theirs back then.

Lin Xia then looked at Ron and Harry: "Neville will have many questions while reading these books. When he comes to you for advice, don't hold back. Explain everything to him."

Every week I will check his reading progress. If the progress is too slow, I won't punish Neville, but only the two of you.

Ron and Harry: ? ? ?

Lin Xia smiled and said, "So, you should also teach him more. Remember, teach him, not make him memorize by rote."

Before Ron could say anything, Lin Xia turned to ask about Mikel's condition.

"Mikel didn't go to class or the lab today. Is he alright?"

Harry said worriedly, "When we woke up this morning, we found that Mikel had a fever. We woke him up and asked him if he wanted to go to the infirmary, but he refused."

Ron: "He said his body has a strong self-healing ability and that he can get through a fever just by relying on his resistance. That's too unreliable!"

Mikel also said this is a tradition passed down from Eastern peoples; they've always liked to rely on their physical immunity to fight off viruses. Is that true, Lin Xia?

Lin Xia raised an eyebrow: "It's about half and half. If we can recover through our own immunity, that would be better. But if we don't get better after several days, we still need to take the medicine. We can't just do nothing."

She then asked, "Has Mikel's fever subsided?"

Ron shook his head: "I went to see him at noon. He still had a fever, but it went from a high fever to a low fever. I brought him some food, but he woke up and then quickly fell asleep again, mumbling that he would eat when he woke up."

Lin Xia thought for a moment and said, "When you go back later, check on him. If he still has a fever or is not feeling well, or his spirits are low, ask for leave for him in advance."

There's a Gryffindor patrol scheduled for tonight, and he's not in good condition to go.

Only then did the two realize they still had patrol duties, and they quickly nodded.

Lin Xia silently noted down the information that "Mikel has a fever." It seems that the system in his body is not omnipotent, and it can't even handle something as small as a fever.

However, it's also possible that the fever itself is caused by the system excessively draining Mikel's life force, leaving the system powerless to help. (End of Chapter)
