Deadly Game: Almighty Boss’s Guide to Making Money
Chapter 1339 Bloodstained Farm
Chapter 1339. The Crimson Farm (12)
Everyone quickly joined hands, and in the next second, they were standing on an open space hundreds of meters away from the blood-red building.
The ground beneath my feet was still trembling slightly, like some giant beast lying dormant underground, panting. Each tremor made my heart tighten.
“We didn’t go straight to the warehouse.” Guo Yuelang steadied himself, his gaze sweeping over the unfamiliar surroundings, his brows furrowing slightly. “It seems there are still some checkpoints we must overcome.”
The farm was no longer what it used to be; it had become increasingly eerie and grotesque.
The once relatively flat land was now covered with spiderweb-like cracks, from which a sticky, dark red liquid seeped out, emitting a faint fishy smell.
The veins on the blood-red building pulsated violently as if they were alive, with a dark red halo flowing with each contraction.
The blue-green fungus spread wildly, growing up to a person's waist in a short time. The cap-shaped fungus shimmered with an eerie fluorescence, making the surrounding environment flicker between light and shadow. If you got close, you could smell a sweet and rotten odor.
The puppets in the distance became even more ferocious. They roared and charged, their previously unsteady steps now becoming unusually swift. They surged in groups toward the valley at the easternmost edge of the farm, as if summoned by some force.
Their skin glowed bluish-gray under the fluorescent light, their eyes flashed with an inhuman red light, drool dripped from their mouths, and wherever they went, fungi were trampled and their juices splattered everywhere.
"Run to the warehouse!" Wen Yang made a quick decision, and Fu was the first to rush out.
Without delay, everyone followed, their footsteps making rapid sounds as they pounded on the trembling ground.
The blue-green fungi along the way were not only tall, but also had long, thin mycelium hanging from their caps. These mycelium were like soft tentacles, and would suddenly wrap around anyone who got close.
The player in front swung his long sword, severing the oncoming mycelium. Yellow-green sap sprayed out, sizzling as it hit the ground and corroding small pits.
"Be careful of these mycelia! They're corrosive!" Lin Xi warned.
Even more troublesome are those berserk puppets, which seem to have lost their minds and will frantically attack and bite any living creature they see.
Fortunately, the purified spring water and chili powder we found earlier still came in handy.
The silvery-white spring water fell on the puppet, immediately emitting white smoke. The puppet let out a painful roar, its skin was scorched black, and its movements became sluggish.
The pungent powder prevented the puppet from opening its eyes, leaving it only able to flail its arms wildly. Taking advantage of this, the group bypassed it and continued on their way.
Three more puppets suddenly emerged from the fungus thicket on the side, blocking their path.
Wen Yang shouted, "Yu Chen, cover me!"
Yu Chen immediately took the crossbow bolt from his back and accurately shot the eye of the foremost puppet, causing it to stagger backward.
At the same time, Lin Xi splashed out spring water, and Lao Chen sprinkled out chili powder, instantly throwing the remaining two puppets into chaos.
Zhang Yutong seized the opportunity, leaped into the air, and slashed the neck of one of the puppets with his knife. With a "crack," the puppet's head hit the ground, and dark green liquid gushed out.
Wen Yang and Lao Chen also worked together to take down the other one.
—What perfect teamwork!
—That was close!
— These are amazing tools for purifying spring water and chili peppers, but it seems like there aren't many left.
—Zhang Yutong is quite handsome, I mean when he's using a knife.
—He's handsome normally, otherwise why would Teacher Huang be interested in him!
—I think vegetables look better, but unfortunately Teacher Huang doesn't like them.
—I wonder if there will be more puppets waiting at the warehouse.
Fortunately, the following puppets were all single, making them relatively easy to deal with.
A dozen minutes later, everyone arrived at the warehouse.
The warehouse's metal door had been knocked out of shape and was leaning against the frame, creaking and groaning.
The warehouse was in a mess. Sacks full of grain were torn to shreds, and golden grains were scattered all over the ground, mixed with puppet footprints and dark red stains.
Several wooden beams supporting the roof have broken, and part of the roof has collapsed, obscuring the view in the corner.
"Everyone be careful, there might still be puppets inside." Lin Xi gestured for everyone to slow down, and then went into the warehouse first.
The warehouse was filled with the musty smell of damp grain and a faint smell of blood. It was dimly lit, with only a few rays of sunlight shining through holes in the roof, forming beams of light.
Everyone cautiously observed their surroundings.
Following the instructions on the note, Guo Yuelang went straight to a pile of grain bags at the very back of the warehouse.
He carefully parted the scattered grains and moved the stacked sacks one by one.
When they reached the last large sack, a loose plank was revealed on the ground.
Guo Yuelang crouched down and tapped on the wooden board, which made a hollow sound. He forcefully lifted the board, revealing a dark, hidden compartment.
The hidden compartment was small, lined with a layer of dry straw, with a silver key lying quietly in the center.
The key is about the length of a palm, with a smooth surface and three clear seal characters for "laboratory" engraved on it. The edges are also decorated with simple patterns.
Old Chen reached out and picked up the key; it felt slightly cool to the touch.
"We've found the second key!" Guo Yuelang said.
The live stream chat instantly went wild:
—Great! We've got the second key!
Fortunately, nothing unexpected happened.
—Me too, I was terrified something might happen, so I kept my eyes glued to the screen.
—I'm too afraid to even go to the toilet, for fear of missing something important.
—Now all that's missing is the third key to the Valley Labs!
The Valley Labs must be very dangerous; there are probably a lot of puppets inside.
—Didn't you see a lot of puppets running that way?
There's also a protective layer that requires three keys to open; hopefully, nothing unexpected will happen.
—Holy crap, another earthquake!
—Oh my god, is this ever going to end?!
—It definitely won't be that easy for everyone; we're used to this game's awful nature.
A sudden, violent tremor ran through the ground, stronger than any before.
Several more pieces of sheet metal fell off the warehouse roof, crashing to the ground with a loud thud.
“We can’t wait any longer; we must get to the valley immediately,” Wen Xiaoya said gravely. “The farm’s stability is deteriorating; it could collapse completely at any moment.”
The group immediately formed two circles and tried teleporting again.
However, they didn't move.
"No, they must have banned us from using teleportation again," Huang Jingjing said.
"It seems we have no choice but to take this path," Wen Xiaoya sighed.
—Does this mean the use of skills is prohibited?
—It probably just means that teleportation is no longer allowed.
—This game is terrible. It gives you skills, but you can't use them.
—It's already good that it wasn't completely banned.
The valley is located at the easternmost edge of the farm, about an hour's drive from the warehouse.
"Everyone, have some water and something to eat," Lin Xi said.
"I can't eat!" Xiaoyu said softly.
"Eat as much as you can to replenish your energy," Yu Chen said, handing Xiao Yu a piece of chocolate. "We don't know what awaits us on the road."
