Chapter 1321 Unbridled
Chaotic. Noisy. Rough.

Coupled with the overexposed film visual effects, the entire Angelica Film Center was caught in a storm.

However, no one broke the silence. Only the sound of the movie was surging in the space constructed by the streets and high-rise buildings, and everyone couldn't help but hold their breath.

Imagine if it was a large cinema chain, people went to the cinema because of the Valentine's Day romantic movie gimmick or the anticipation of Anson and Kate, but ended up seeing such a... difficult to describe work, they probably wouldn't have the patience to continue exploring.

But at the Angelica Film Center, the atmosphere was completely different, and the entire audience was completely involved, even those in the office buildings and apartment buildings were no exception.

No leaving, no impatience, no noise, nothing.

This concentration truly interprets the charm of the big screen.

In the flood of information, the answer is immediately revealed, at least it is the tip of the iceberg——

Let's go back a little bit on the timeline. Although the timeline of the movie has been completely disrupted and no one knows what is going on now, we can at least notice that this was three days before the conversation between Joel and Frank.

That was three days before Valentine's Day.

Joel is trying to find answers from a couple of friends.

He was about to make a plan for Valentine's Day to spend a romantic time with Clementine; but when he called, Clementine had changed her number.

He realized something was wrong, quickly picked out a small gift, and headed to Barnes & Noble.

It turns out that Clementine doesn't know him at all. Not only that, she even has a new boyfriend. Joel has been trying to see the new boyfriend's face clearly, but he is always hiding behind the cash register and bookshelf and can't be seen clearly. Clementine and her new boyfriend are so affectionate and completely ignoring Joel, which makes Joel fall into despair.

Joel turned away in despair. The lights in Barnes & Noble went out one by one, and the whole world fell into darkness. Joel left the bookstore and went directly into the living room of his friend's house.

The transition is really beautiful!
The shots that break the space are full of imagination, effortlessly bringing the audience into Joel's world.

Joel couldn't understand why Clementine treated him like this.

Joel's friends Rob and Kelly hold different ideas. Kelly thinks Joel should completely forget Clementine and say goodbye to a relationship; but Rob doesn't think so. He thinks Kelly is overprotecting Joel.

As a result, Rob and Kelly started arguing, and finally Kelly turned away angrily, and Rob handed Joel an envelope.

It was a greeting card:
"Dear Mr. and Mrs. Eakin,

Clementine has deleted Joel from her memory, so please do not mention this relationship in front of her.

Forgetfulness Clinic.

The next day, Joel found the Forgetfulness Clinic.

Nervous, anxious, and reserved.

Joel saw the smiling blonde girl at the front desk and shifted his gaze stiffly, pretending to look somewhere else, but he was secretly looking at the items on display at the front desk with the corner of his eyes.

The blonde who was busy working and talking to a client on the phone noticed the guest, looked up and smiled at Joel, and couldn't help but look at him twice.

Inadvertently, the two people's eyes met. There was a pause, and the blonde girl performed her front desk duties with a polite smile, which made Joel hurriedly lower his eyes and stare at the ground in panic.

Like a child who has done something wrong.

Ha ha ha ha!
The whole audience was filled with joy and laughter.

Whether it's the montage editing that breaks the space between the bookstore and the entrance, or the joke of breaking the fourth wall and rushing to the "Spider-Man" set in a second, these are all details that only true movie lovers and true fans can understand.

I couldn't help but smile knowingly——

The blonde at the reception desk is none other than Kristen, Mary Jane from Spider-Man. Although we knew from the early promotions of “The Sunshine Inside” that Anson and Kristen would be in the same frame again, we didn’t expect it to be in this way, and the movie even lightly teased it. So much for that.

The movie did not do this deliberately. It was just a fleeting scene. The audience who understood it would get it, but the audience who did not understand would not be affected by it.

Apparently, the audience at Angelica Film Center caught on to the gag.

Then, the movie continues.

The blonde - Mary took Joel to meet the doctor, but a figure hiding in the corner of the corridor came out mischievously and scared Mary.

That Stan!

He was one of the two people who sneaked into Joel's apartment and put an astronaut helmet on him!

Huh!
The streets and squares were abuzz with activity. One didn’t need to be very smart or wise to notice the details immediately.

Connect them bit by bit.

The doctor tells Joel that Clementine is unhappy and she decides to erase her entire past and move on with her life, so they help her complete the process and erase all her memories.

The letter was supposed to be sent to Clementine's friend, but due to a filing error, it was sent to Joel's friends, the Eakins.

Joel fell into despair and confusion, unable to understand Clementine's decision. He found Rob and Kelly again, but they were also stuck in trivial quarrels and could not give Joel more help.

Angry, frustrated, annoyed, sad.

Finally, on an impulse, Joel breaks into the Forgetfulness Clinic and asks the doctor to erase his memory.

Mary tried to stop Joel because there were other guests in line and Joel couldn't cut in line; but the doctor thought the clinic needed to be responsible for cleaning up the mess, so he allowed Joel to cut in line and received him early.

Following the doctor's instructions, Joel sorted out all the items related to Clementine, without missing a single one, and returned to the clinic with the items, but found that the clinic was overcrowded and the appointment calls never stopped.

Doctors say it's because it's Valentine's Day, the busiest time of the year.

Under the doctor's guidance, Joel recalls the first time he and Clementine met, because the doctor needs to determine when the root of their memory erasure should be traced back.

Joel said that two years ago, he lived with a woman named Naomi. One time, Rob and Kelly invited them to a beach party. Naomi didn't want to go, but he still went to the beach with his friends and met Clementine there.

The whole audience was in complete silence.

Karen looked at Blair, and Blair looked at Karen.

So, what is going on at the beginning of the movie?

Apparently, it was a beach, but there was no party; and, from what Joel was mumbling, he and Naomi had broken up.

So, that wasn't their first encounter, so what's going on?

The amount of information explodes!
And, that's not all.

Blair then noticed that the doctor and Stan were scanning Joel's brain. Two lasers were aimed at the temples, emitting blue light. At the location of the blue light, a mark drawn with a carbon pen could be clearly seen.

Blair: That black spot!

This is the black spot that appeared on Joel's temple!
What's going on? The timeline is disrupted!

So brain-burning!
Who knows what happened in the movie?
As expected, Charlie Kaufman is worthy of being Charlie Kaufman. The seemingly ordinary concepts are thrown out one after another in the chaotic timeline, and his wild imagination makes it impossible for the audience to keep up!
But, it's so exciting!
