The Best Actor in the Vase of Meiyu
Chapter 2033 Eye-opening
Chapter 2033 Eye-opening
Ruth Williams' smile was wide and unrestrained—
For three consecutive days recently, Jamie Foxx has been serving afternoon tea to Forest Films, not just one or two people, but making sure everyone is there.
Even visitors are not exempt.
The whole of Burbank knows that the newly crowned Oscar-winning Best Actor has a close relationship with Forest Films.
If it were Charlie Kaufman, it would be understandable; but Jamie Foxx, what connection does he have with Anson?
Rumors circulated in Hollywood, but no one knew the reason. Some even asked Jamie directly, to which Jamie simply remained calm.
“Anson is an interesting fellow, isn’t he? Besides, it’s just afternoon tea, there’s no need to make a fuss.”
After thinking about it carefully, people feel relieved.
As Jamie said, afternoon tea is just a small matter; true friendship can't be built on afternoon tea alone. It's just an extra treat at most.
Either Jamie is just promoting Forest Films, or he just lost a bet and might need to buy Forest Films afternoon tea for a week straight.
But later, no one knows how it happened, but a trend of "sending afternoon tea to Forest Films" spread throughout Hollywood, and everyone joined in the fun.
Leonardo DiCaprio. Kate Winslet. Kirsten Dunst. Reese Witherspoon. Tom Hanks. Steven Spielberg.
The event was incredibly lively, with one thing leading to another. Chris Rock even went directly to Forest Films, spending two consecutive afternoons there eating and drinking to verify the rumors. This became a unique sight in Hollywood and a hot topic for a long time, with the speculation never stopping.
The employees of other film companies in Burbank were incredibly envious. The free afternoon tea was one thing, but the fact that all sorts of big names were paying attention to Forest Films was another.
Whether they want to admit it or not, after the Oscars, Forest Pictures' reputation in the industry soared, truly making its mark in the industry.
Clearly, Ruth had no idea how things would turn out; what was originally just Jamie Foxx's goodwill turned into a surprise event.
After signing for the package, Ruth turned to the crowd in the hall and announced, "If you need anything, please take it yourself. Just please be careful not to waste any food."
After saying that, he was about to return to the front desk when he saw a big, burly man with a confused and bewildered look on his face. Ruth gave him a warm smile and said, "Welcome to Forest Films. As I just said, anyone can come."
Martin: ...
Startled, I blurted out instinctively, "Are all Hollywood film companies like that?"
A smile flickered in Ruth's eyes. "No, only at Forest Films."
Martin looked puzzled. "But why?"
Ruth shrugged slightly. "I don't know either. Is it because of Anson? Jamie brought this afternoon tea to Anson."
As he spoke, he returned to the front desk.
Martin quickly followed, "Anson Wood... what kind of person is he in private?"
Ruth glanced at Martin and laughed. "Are you a reporter? Why would a reporter be curious about my opinion of Anson?"
Martin scratched his head. "Sorry, it's an occupational hazard." Not a journalist's, but a screenwriter's. "I'm Martin McDonagh. I have a meeting with Edgar Cook and Lucas Wood at 2 PM?"
Ruth quickly scanned the computer screen. "Yes, 2 p.m., right, Martin?" It was only 1:30 p.m., half an hour early. "Mr. Wood is in another meeting, and Mr. Cook hasn't arrived yet. You may have to wait a while."
"You may go to the conference room and sit for a while."
Martin waved his hand. "Can I wait here?" Ruth replied, "Oh, of course. Mr. Wood originally designed this space so that everyone could relax and enjoy their time here."
Martin was about to ask a few more questions, but the front desk was extremely busy, so he didn't linger and turned around to find a seat.
He couldn't help but glance at the chairs. In the lobby on the first floor, there were low wooden stakes, wild mushrooms, swings, log benches, and groundhogs dozing off. All of these were chairs, scattered in different places at different heights. Golden sunlight shone down, and the pace of time seemed to slow down.
This place... is different from London, very, very different.
Indeed, as the saying goes, don't jump to conclusions before experiencing and seeing things for yourself, and don't let arrogance and prejudice blind you.
Ruth had just finished answering another question and couldn't find Martin when she looked for him. A figure appeared in front of her, and just as she was about to speak, Ruth smiled and said, "Excuse me, could you please wait a moment while I check on something I'm working on?"
Ruth quickly ran towards Martin, lowering her voice, "Sorry, I was busy with other things. If you would like to wait in the conference room, it's on the second floor, in conference room number three. Mr. Wood and Mr. Cook will be there in a bit. I hope it won't delay your meeting."
"Also, I wish you all the best."
After saying that, Ruth turned around and took a series of quick steps back to the front desk. Looking at the figure from before, she said, "Sorry to keep you waiting, sir. How can I help you...?"
The words were abruptly cut off before they could finish. Ruth stared dumbfounded at the man in the baseball cap before him, all sound vanished.
The man looked slightly tired, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Uh, they told me about the meeting at 2 p.m., with Lucas Wood and Edgar Cook."
Ruth: ...
Her brain completely stopped working, and she could only hear her own voice replying stiffly, like a robot issuing a command, "Mr. Wood is in a meeting."
The man said "Oh," and then asked, "Can I just wait in the lobby?"
Ruth, "No!"
A gasp escaped her lips, startling the man in front of her. He stopped in his tracks, about to turn and leave. "What's wrong? Is something the problem?"
Ruth couldn't believe her eyes. The man before her was so calm, so composed, so natural that she couldn't help but doubt her own judgment.
Could it be... that I've mistaken someone for someone else?
But he was so special, so unique, how could she possibly mistake him? Even though the man in front of her had a beard, wore glasses and a baseball cap, his eyes didn't lie.
Ruth hesitated for a moment, then explained incoherently, “What I mean is, you can wait in Conference Room Three, or you can wait on the first floor. If you need, you can enjoy afternoon tea there; it was specially delivered by Mr. Jamie Foxx.”
"Jamie Foxx? Why?" The man was taken aback, his face full of question marks.
Ruth didn't know how to answer.
Fortunately, the man didn't pursue the matter further; he waved his hand, turned around, and left.
Ruth stood frozen in place, no longer caring about anything else, her eyes fixed on the figure, her heart pounding in her throat.
That figure, that posture, that temperament—even a simple hoodie and shorts outfit couldn't hide her charm, making it truly impossible to look away.
That's clearly...
Then, the man casually sat down on a low stool in the center of the hall, stretched out his legs, raised his head slightly, and bathed his face in the golden sunlight.
In a brief moment, Ruth held her breath, her mind went blank, and all that remained in her ears was a buzzing sound.
