Chapter 994 Dizzy
Nearby, Aasif-Mandvi was rubbing his hands.

This Mumbai-born Indian-British actor has been in Hollywood for more than fifteen years. Although he has never played a leading role or an important supporting role, and has always played supporting roles with some lines, he has performed in more than fifty films, many of which are classics.

“CSI,” “Law & Order,” “The Sopranos,” “Die Hard 3,” and the list goes on.

In Hollywood movies, a minority role is often needed, and Asif has become the representative face of Indians on both the big and small screens.

Of course, there is also a reason why Asif was able to secure the role in "Spider-Man 2".

The crew needed a pizza shop owner, but not an authentic Italian, but an ordinary person who made a living in downtown Manhattan under the name of authentic Italian pizza.

As a result, Asif defeated a number of competitors and stood out.

And now, he is about to act opposite Anson.

Asif thought he would be very calm and enter the crew with a professional attitude. After all, he has been in Hollywood since 1987 and has seen all kinds of scenes, while Anson is just a baby.

However, I still couldn't sleep last night.

Who knows, maybe "Spider-Man 2" won't be a turning point in his acting career, but it will allow his family to clearly see him perform on the big screen and shut up those grumbling relatives in the family.

I spent the whole night making pancakes, with countless imaginations in my mind.

He thought about how his parents would look when they saw him, how those relatives would be speechless, how they would no longer treat him as a disgrace to the family, how they would curry favor with him and use him as a source of bragging rights.

All kinds of images were surging in my mind, I couldn't calm down and was in a trance.

Then, Anson appeared before his eyes.

My heart was pounding, my mouth was dry, I was even more nervous than the crew of "Die Hard 3" when they saw Bruce Willis, and I felt dizzy.

It was then that Asif first realized what superstar aura was all about.

Greeting. Handshake. Conversation.

Move around. Rehearse your lines. Practice.

Although he was clearly experiencing all of this, Asif had no sense of reality, as if his soul had left his body and was wandering on the noisy street watching this scene.

This is something Asif has never experienced in his fifteen years of acting career.

Asif knew that he had to wake up and cheer up, otherwise the crew would fire him and find an Indian actor in a matter of minutes. He would be replaced in less than ten minutes.

However, the more nervous and anxious you are, the worse it gets.

It's a disaster.

"Asif, Asif..."

The shout, coming from far away and getting closer, was like spring thunder exploding on the eardrum, suddenly pulling Asif to the ground and his heart exploding.

Asif closed his eyes. "I will do it, I will do it, next time, next time, just give me one more chance."

NG, NG, they keep NG, is this the fourth or fifth time?

And, it was all Asif’s fault.

Asif knew what this meant. The first scene should be the simplest and easiest, to augur well for a successful start.

Now, screwed.

He couldn't imagine where his career would go if a project like "Spider-Man 2" was ruined because of Asif.

A shadow silently loomed over the crew.

Because he was too eager and too urgent, Asif curled up into a ball and trembled.

"Hey, Asif, calm down, calm down, nothing is going on here."

Anson noticed Asif's nervousness.

Sam Raimi was a little depressed. He took off his headphones and was about to rush out from behind the monitor. What on earth was going on in such a simple scene? But Anson raised his hand to stop Sam and signaled to give them three minutes.

Anson himself has experienced such a situation. If it feels wrong, it is wrong, and it will not change much because of the size and importance of the role.

As the old saying goes, there are no small roles, only small actors.

So, Anson believed that this was not a big deal, and he just needed to regain his breathing rhythm.

“Breathe, Asif, breathe.”

“People often think that breathing is the simplest and easiest thing, but after going through the trials of life, they will understand that it is not that easy.”

"Let me tell you a secret. Before every performance, I adjust my breathing to remind myself not to forget this."

The slow and steady words, gentle and warm, helped Asif regain some sanity.

Asif stared at Anson blankly without saying anything.

Anson gestured: Breathe in, breathe out; breathe in, breathe out.

The movement is very simple, but when your attention is completely focused on it, the simplest movement can silently pull your attention back to the ground and then slowly find yourself again.

Anson didn't say much, but Asif couldn't help but breathe along.

Slowly, slowly, the soul returned and sanity returned.

Asif finally calmed down a little, "I'm sorry, I ruined everything."

Anson chuckled, "No, you were only delayed for fifteen minutes. Don't worry, we're not in a hurry."

puff.

Asif couldn't help laughing, "I'm just... nervous. I'm excited and nervous. I don't recognize myself anymore. I don't know what's wrong with me."

"Normal." Anson shrugged lightly. "Who in Hollywood is not like this? The first thing I do when I wake up every morning is to confirm my existence."

"If you accidentally see yourself in the mirror, you might get scared."

Plastic surgery, maybe? A hangover, maybe?
Or, removing makeup?
"Hahaha." Asif couldn't help but burst out laughing.

Anson handed over a bottle of mineral water. "Do you need to rest for a while? Or are you ready to try again?"

There were no special words, let alone any so-called chicken soup for the soul, but Asif's restlessness and anxiety were calmed down.

"Hey, you're the boss, and I'm the one who needs to be nervous." Anson said again.

Asif finally relaxed completely and smiled widely. "If it weren't for the movie, how could I have had the opportunity to scold Anson Wood?"

"Scolding Spider-Man is much more difficult than scolding me." Anson said jokingly.

Asif's smile bloomed without reservation.

Taking a deep breath, Asif raised his voice in Sam's direction and shouted, "Sorry, again. I'm ready."

Sam didn't respond--

He was already under a lot of pressure, and the first scene was stuck repeatedly, so how was he supposed to continue with this job?

I couldn't help but feel a little irritated.

But Sam is an introvert. Even when he is upset, he tends to keep his temper to himself instead of venting it on others.

So, Sam looked at Anson and gave him a questioning look.

Anson made an "OK" gesture, and Sam finally relaxed and raised his hand, ready to try again. If it didn't work, there was still time to get angry.

Asif closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Just as Anson said, don't think too much, just focus on your breathing and bring all your attention back.
