Desert Eagle Suletan Khan

Chapter 1040: The troops parade and sing

The capture of Ningguta did not mean the end of the war. In fact, there were still many aftermaths to deal with in order to end the war. In the Battle of Ningguta, the guards lost another 3,000 men, and the number of troops dropped to more than 48,000, and they needed to be replenished. Fortunately, a large number of prisoners were captured, with a total of more than 5,000. The Great Khan Lianhua had his eyes on these prisoners and wanted to subdue some of the Solon warriors and incorporate them into the army. He cordially received the four captives, including Harada Yine of the Huerha tribe, Harada Chongguka of the Geikele tribe, Buzhu, and Niulu Zhangjing Garu, who were the higher-ranking generals among the surrendered generals.

I thought that these people would rather die than surrender since they resisted so tenaciously, but most of them were very obedient. Except for Garu who refused to surrender, the other three expressed their willingness to surrender. Thinking carefully, this is normal. The leaders of the tribes outside the pass all regarded Bahai as their spiritual pillar. Once Bahai died, these people lost their fighting spirit. In addition, their tribesmen are now under their rule. For the safety of their tribesmen, they dare not refuse to surrender. After understanding this, the Great Khan happily accepted their surrender and appointed them as the head of a thousand households. Among the three people, Yine's official position was higher than Chongguka and Buzhu, but now they are on equal footing, which inevitably leads to discord. This is the Great Khan's method. Divide and rule is the way of the emperor. After rain and dew, he ordered Garu to be beheaded for public display. With the demonstration of these three leaders of the Solon tribe, it was easy to recruit and surrender soldiers. The guards quickly selected 3,000 strong men from the captives to make up for the losses, and the number of people was restored to more than 51,000.

After pacifying the surrendered generals, they also pacified the literati. In the Battle of Ningguta, the guards also captured three famous scholars who were exiled to Ningguta for crimes: Zhang Jinyan, Wu Zhaoqian, and Fang Gongqian. The Great Khan was a heroic ruler who liked to use people according to their abilities. In order to carefully observe the abilities of these people, he was not in a hurry to give them official positions, but only ordered them to stay by his side to assist in military affairs.

"Although Bahai has surrendered, the Ulaha and Tokoro tribes are still resisting on the west bank of the Ussuri River. How should we deal with them?" Sultan smiled as he looked at the surrendered generals and scholars. Since these people have pledged their allegiance to him, they should make some contributions.

"I believe that the Qing Dynasty is doomed outside the Great Wall. There is no need to resort to force. All we need to do is send people who are familiar with the two leaders to persuade them to surrender, and the Qing army in Shilimian will surely surrender." Zhang Jinyan was originally an official of the Ming Dynasty. After surrendering to the Qing Dynasty, he thought he would continue to be valued. However, the Qing court launched a literary inquisition, and he inexplicably lost his official position and was sent to the bitter and cold place of Ningguta. As a result, he hated the Qing court so much that he was willing to work for the Great Khan.

"Well, Mr. Zhang, what you said makes sense." Sultan glanced at him approvingly and asked, "Who is willing to help me persuade these two tribes to surrender?"

"I have a long history with the Ulaha tribe's Halada Manzhuna and the Tokoro tribe's Halada Achuhun, and I am willing to help Your Majesty to persuade them to surrender," Yine said. In theory, he was not a Mongolian but a Jurchen, so he was not qualified to call himself a "slave", but in the Qing Dynasty, people were used to calling him "slave" and still called him that, which made a group of Mongolian ministers quite dissatisfied. His tribe was located in Shilimianwei between the Mudan River and the Ussuri River. He fished and hunted with the Ulaha and Tokoro tribes on the west bank of the Ussuri River, and they had some friendship.

"Okay! Please make a trip for me," Sultan was overjoyed. After thinking for a while, he asked again, "Ningguta was unfortunately hit by a flood. Most of the people in the city drowned. Now the population is scarce. What can we do?"

"Your Majesty, I think we should recruit refugees from nearby areas to come to Ningguta to cultivate the land," Wu Zhaoqian said. "I think we should move criminals from various provinces here," Fang Gongqian also suggested. They had not had a chance to show off before, so now they had to speak up.

"Yeah," Sultan hummed.

"Your Majesty can grant the captured wounded soldiers, the elderly and the weak from the Eight Banners wasteland near Ningguta and lend them money and food, which will surely restore the population as soon as possible," Zhang Jinyan made another suggestion.

Sultan nodded heavily. He had captured more than 5,000 Qing troops in the Battle of Ningguta, and selected 3,000 elite soldiers to replace the casualties. The remaining number was more than 2,000 old, weak and disabled, which was just enough to supplement the population of Ningguta.

With everyone’s help, the fire burned brighter and soon all the aftermath of Ningguta was resolved.

Then, news came from the west bank of the Ussuri River: under the persuasion of Yine, the Ulaha tribe's Halada Manzhuna and the Tokoro tribe's Halada Achuhun were willing to lead their tribes to return to the Qing Dynasty, which meant that the Qing Dynasty's power outside the Great Wall was completely destroyed. Sultan was overjoyed and appointed the two as thousand-household chiefs, and promoted Yine to deputy chief of a thousand households for his merit in recruiting surrender.

In order to show David's military prowess and win over the tribes outside the Great Wall, the Great Khan Lianhua ordered a banquet for more than 100 leaders of the Ewenki, Daur, Oroqen, Barhu, Bilar, Hezhe, Feiyaka, Udehe, Valka, Huerha, Buryat and other tribes in Yine's territory and Shilimianwei on the west bank of the Ussuri River. The reason for choosing Yine's territory was that Yine had a high status in the Qing Dynasty and had good relations with the leaders of various tribes. Secondly, by marching from Ningguta to Shilimianwei, the mighty military power of David's country could be demonstrated and the disobedience could be deterred.

The leaders of various tribes who received the notification by express horse either went in person or sent their relatives to the Shilimian area. Under the leadership of Daur leader Kenzhewul, Barhu leader Bilge, Hulha leader Toheike, Hezhe leader Achang Ali and others, more than one hundred leaders lined up in two neat rows in front of the gate of Shilimian village to welcome the Great Khan Lianhua.

What a great Khan! He was wearing bright silver armor and sitting majestically on the snow-red BMW "Zhuifeng". He held a lance in his left hand and an Ilit sword in his right hand. The tassel on his helmet fluttered in the wind. He led the army at the forefront and gradually saw the leaders of various tribes who came to welcome him.

"Sing!" the man let out a long cry.

Upon hearing the order, the fifty thousand soldiers lined up in neat battle formations, sang the newly composed military song "From Ningguta to Shilimian", and followed their Khan forward. The overwhelming murderous aura could freeze the air, and the leaders of the various tribes were so frightened that they knelt on the ground and dared not raise their heads. The victorious warriors who came from Ningguta,
The great Padma Khan,
Riding a red horse,

Use your body as a gun,
Crush all enemy resistance.

The one following the red horse,

A warrior of Padma Khan,
With a resolute look,

Fearless and strong.

From the banks of the Jieya River to the surging Heilongjiang River,

From Hetuala to Nurgan,
Oats, barley, buckwheat, and mink,

Fresh fish, lush grass, countless cattle and sheep,
The sun shines everywhere and the great country has no boundaries.

Flying magpie,

Please sing for the brave.

The bitter cold in the northern frontier and the hardships of the expedition,
Don't sing too cheerfully.

Please sing out the heroism and toughness of the grassland men.

Passers-by,

Listen to the song of the magpie,
On the high Aobao during ancestor worship,
In the solemn faces of prayer,
In the warrior's fiery chest,

The song still echoes today.

This song was composed by Bobe, a Grand Secretary who was good at flattery. Sultan was delighted to hear this flattering song and ordered the entire army to sing it when they entered Shilimianwei.

With loud military songs and orderly marches, Lianhua Khan arrived at Shilimianwei. (End of this chapter)
