Working as a police officer in Mexico.
Chapter 701 His mother is so fierce!
Chapter 701 His mother is so fierce!
The Belize Police Headquarters lobby was brightly lit, and even in the evening, it was bustling with people, including police officers in different uniforms, clerical staff, and citizens coming to handle various matters.
Alvarez looked around nervously, while his father kept wiping the cold sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief. Only Marta stood up straight, searching for a suitable window to report the incident.
She saw a relatively empty window and took her son and husband with her.
The young police officer behind the window was looking down and organizing documents.
“Officer, we need to report a crime.” Marta’s voice was not loud, but it was clear enough.
The young police officer didn't even look up, pointing to the crowd queuing next to him: "Madam, please take a number and wait in line before reporting a crime."
Marta frowned, her patience waning. She leaned forward and lowered her voice, "Our business is very important. There are drug dealers!"
The young police officer stopped organizing the documents abruptly, looked up sharply, and his professional laziness vanished instantly. He carefully examined Marta and the obviously uneasy father and son behind her.
"What did you say? Drugs?" he asked in a low voice, confirming.
"Correct."
The young officer clearly understood the gravity of the situation; he immediately stood up and said, "Please come with me, and don't make a sound."
He quickly left his seat, led the three through the busy hall to a relatively quiet corridor on the side, and brought them into a small meeting room.
"Please wait here for a moment and do not move around. I will report to my superior immediately." After saying this, the officer hurriedly closed the door and left.
Only Alvarez and his family remained in the reception room.
The air conditioner was blowing cold air, but Alvarez's back was soaked with cold sweat.
Old Alvarez was restless, constantly looking out through the glass window in the door.
Just as Alvarez was about to collapse, the door to the reception room was gently pushed open.
A policewoman in uniform walked in carrying a tray with three glasses of water on it.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, gentlemen. Please have some water. The officer will be here soon." The policewoman smiled and placed the water glass on the coffee table in front of them.
Old Alvarez, feeling parched, thanked him and reached for his water glass.
Marta politely said "thank you," but in that instant, she keenly noticed that when the policewoman put down her water glass, her eyes quickly swept over Alvarez, and a barely perceptible hint of panic flashed deep in her eyes.
Marta's professional boxer's instinct for danger instantly put her on edge!
"Don't drink!" she suddenly hissed, reaching out to slap her husband's hand as he was about to touch the glass.
Old Alvarez was startled and pulled his hand back, knocking the water glass to the ground and spreading water stains.
Almost simultaneously, the policewoman's expression changed drastically. Her kind demeanor vanished, replaced by a ferocious look of desperation! With lightning speed, she reached for her waist with her right hand, pulled out a pistol, and pointed it directly at Alvarez, who was standing right in front of her!
Her goal was clear: to silence them! They absolutely couldn't be allowed to reveal anything about the drugs!
"boom!"
Gunshots rang out in the small meeting room, deafeningly loud!
But the bullet hit the ceiling!
Because the moment the policewoman pulled the trigger, Marta moved. She didn't back down or scream; instead, she lunged at the muzzle of the gun!
A fierce, precise left hook, imbued with the full power and fury of a former professional boxer, slammed into the policewoman's right temple with a whoosh!
"Ugh!" The policewoman let out a short, muffled groan. Her eyes instantly bulged and became bloodshot. The shock from the blow to her brain made her fall to the side like a puppet with its strings cut, and her finger, which was about to pull the trigger, lost its aim.
The policewoman fell heavily to the ground, her body twitched twice, and then she stopped moving, her pistol slipping from her hand.
Marta showed no mercy in that punch!
All this happened in a flash!
It took only two seconds from when the policewoman drew her gun to when she was shot down!
Old Alvarez and Alvarez were both stunned, staring blankly at the policewoman lying on the ground and the still-smoking bullet hole in the ceiling, the strong smell of gunpowder filling the air.
My mom is amazing!
The corridor and lobby outside the reception room instantly erupted in commotion!
The alarm blared! A cacophony of footsteps and shouts grew louder as they approached!
"Bang!" The door to the meeting room was violently kicked open, and several armed police officers rushed in, their guns instantly pointed at the three people inside!
"Don't move! Put your hands up!"
The officers at the front saw their colleague lying on the ground, Marta standing to the side with her fists clenched, and the father and son slumped in their chairs in shock. They were momentarily confused about the situation, but their professional instincts led them to take control of the scene.
Marta immediately raised her hands and shouted in a calm but urgent tone, "Don't shoot! We are the ones who reported the crime. She is the killer. She was about to shoot my son to silence him! Because we have evidence that the Neptune Casino is selling drugs."
The police officers who rushed in had drastically changed their expressions. The lead officer glanced at the policewoman and Marta on the ground and quickly made a judgment: "Control her and check her injuries! You three, stand against the wall! Nobody move!"
An officer immediately rushed forward to check on the fallen policewoman and reported gravely, "Sir, she's still breathing, but she's seriously injured and unconscious!"
Several other officers nervously kept their guns at the Alvarez family.
Soon, the young police officer who had left earlier arrived quickly, accompanied by a commanding officer whose epaulets indicated a high rank.
Director Lionel Schultz frowned as he looked at the scene inside.
"What happened?!" he asked in a deep voice, his voice carrying an air of authority.
Marta seized the opportunity and quickly recounted the events: from her son's experiences at the casino, to being threatened, to reporting the incident, and the policewoman's attempts to poison and kill him.
Lionel Schulz listened, his face growing increasingly grim.
He glanced at the policewoman being carried out by her colleagues for emergency treatment, then at the still-shaken Alvarez family, especially Marta, who was unusually calm.
He walked over to the overturned water glass and ordered the officers behind him, "Take samples of the water stains and the glass and send them for testing immediately."
Then he turned to Marta, “Madam, are you sure everything you’ve said about the Neptune Casino and the extraterrestrial objects is true?”
Marta met his gaze without flinching, pointing to her son: "I swear on my son's life, he saw it with his own eyes! We are willing to undergo any lie detector test and investigation! Sir, we came to report this because we want to live!"
Alvarez stood by, looking utterly bewildered.
With my life?
Lionel Schultz stared at her for a few seconds, then finally nodded slowly and ordered his subordinates, "Take them to the highest level of security, protect them closely, and no one is to approach without my order."
"Yes!"
Director Lionel Schultz, his face grave, strode back to his office and locked the door behind him.
He picked up the phone and dialed directly the private number of Herman Göring, the governor of the Belize Special Economic Zone.
The phone rang a few times before being answered. The voice was gentle. "Schultz, what's up? Why are you calling so late?"
"Governor, something terrible has happened."
Schultz spoke in a low voice but quickly, “Just now, three people reported to headquarters that someone was selling and providing ‘extraterrestrial objects’ inside the ‘Neptune Casino’.”
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, then the voice suddenly rose: "Is the evidence conclusive?" "The complainant's son witnessed another rich kid, Carlos, using drugs in the casino's VIP room. The casino manager, Fermín, used enticing and threatening language. Even more serious is..."
Schultz paused, his throat dry. "While they were waiting in the secure meeting room I arranged, a female police officer disguised as an office worker, who was initially identified as Elena Morales from the General Headquarters Archives, tried to bring them water. The alert mother of the complainant noticed something was amiss, and after preventing her husband from drinking water, the police officer actually pulled out a gun and attempted to shoot the complainant's son to silence him!"
"Within our police headquarters? To silence them?!" Goring's voice rose.
"Yes, thankfully the mother reacted exceptionally well, punching the policewoman unconscious and preventing a tragedy. The policewoman is now seriously injured and unconscious, and has been rushed to the hospital for treatment. The water sample has been sent for testing, but I suspect it contains poison."
Schultz quickly finished his report, then his voice grew lower, tinged with a tentative hesitation, "Governor, this matter is having a very bad impact. It involves casinos, drugs, and internal corruption and attempted murder. If it becomes public, it will be a devastating blow to the reputation of the Special Administrative Region and to Mr. Victor's reputation. Do you think it's possible for us to temporarily keep the news to a minimum? Conduct a thorough internal investigation first, and then..."
Schultz didn't say the words "press down," but the meaning couldn't be clearer.
There was a long silence on the other end of the phone, with only Governor Göring's slightly heavy breathing audible.
Finally, Göring spoke.
"Schultz, what century do you think you're living in? The Middle Ages? Or do you think Belize is some isolated island?"
“Governor, I…”
Göring interrupted him, “You want to suppress it? What will you use to suppress it? To cover up the initial crimes with more murders and lies? Schultz, let me tell you, that would be truly self-destructive. When the enemy or international media expose the truth, with sensational headlines like, ‘Drugs are rampant in Victor’s District, and the police are involved in silencing witnesses,’ then we’ll be on the defensive! Mr. Victor hates deception and betrayal the most, especially from within!”
Goring paused, then said firmly, “Listen, immediately ensure the absolute safety of Alvarez and his entire family. At the same time, take detailed and transparent statements, secure all evidence, and immediately seal off Neptune’s control manager, Fermín, and all VIP room staff who may be on duty that night. Search every corner of the casino.”
"Yes, Governor! I'll take care of it immediately!"
"When something goes wrong, don't try to suppress it; face the problem squarely."
"Otherwise, if something goes wrong, we'll all end up in jail together."
Lionel Schulz hung up the phone with Governor Göring, his face grave as he lit a cigarette.
Governor Göring was right. In the District, especially under the system built by Mr. Victor, attempting to cover up such serious crimes was tantamount to playing with fire and was almost impossible to succeed.
Cough cough cough... You think those people in the Ministry of Internal Affairs are just sitting around doing nothing?
Rather than passively waiting for things to be exposed and you to be punished, it's better to take the initiative, make amends, and at least maintain some control.
He immediately mobilized his elite troops and led them straight to the Neptune Casino.
Sirens pierced the night sky of the Belize Special Economic Zone as a convoy of armored SUVs and black police cars sped toward the neon-lit Neptune Casino.
Meanwhile, in a casino VIP room, Fermín was drinking with a wealthy woman, and of course, doing drugs along the way. She was high and wanted to take off her clothes. Just as things were about to get serious, the phone on the table woke him up. He smiled at the woman and pointed to the door to go out and answer the call.
Wait until you step outside.
The voice on the other end of the phone was urgent and low:
“Fermin, you’ve fucking gotten yourself into big trouble! That kid Alvarez is at the police headquarters right now! They’ve spilled the beans about the casino and the ‘extraterrestrial object,’ and the police are on their way to you. Listen, clean up this mess right now, don’t leave any loose ends, or you know what will happen!”
The effects of the drugs and the effects of the alcohol instantly sobered Fermín up, and his hand holding the phone began to tremble uncontrollably.
"Hurry! Hurry! There's no time!" came the urging voice on the other end of the phone before hanging up, leaving only a busy tone.
Fermín flung open the heavy door to the VIP room, ignoring the wealthy woman inside who was already taking off her coat and had a dazed look in her eyes. He roared hoarsely into the hallway outside, “Everyone! Listen to my orders! Red alert! The police are here! Quick! Get rid of all the ‘candy’! Flush it down the toilet, don’t leave a single piece!”
The previously luxurious and leisurely atmosphere inside the casino was instantly shattered, replaced by chaos and uproar.
The staff ran around in a panic, like bees whose hornet's nest had been disturbed.
The guests in the VIP room, who had just been immersed in the illusion created by the "extraterrestrial object," were also terrified by this sudden turn of events, and the effects of the drug had worn off by half.
"Quick! Get the guests through the emergency exits! Don't go through the main entrance! Spread them out and make sure they leave safely. They absolutely cannot be trapped inside the casino!"
Fermín's forehead veins bulged as he directed the operation while personally rushing towards the largest VIP room, where a considerable number of spare "goods" were stored.
The subordinates used both hands and feet to frantically pour a packet of white powder, packaged in an exquisite little bag, into the toilet in the bathroom, and frantically pressed the flush button. The swirling water carried the valuable "extraterrestrial object" away into the depths of the pipes.
Other staff members used a combination of coaxing and intimidation to guide the unsteady, delirious guests into hidden passageways inside the casino, leading to adjacent buildings or back alleys, in an attempt to evade capture before the casino could withdraw its winnings.
Just don't get caught here!
"Quick! Faster!"
Fermín stared at the scene of devastation before him, his heart pounding, as if he could already hear the distant sirens of police.
His only hope now is to destroy all direct evidence and send all the "dirty" customers away before the police break down the door. As long as he can't be caught red-handed, he might still have a sliver of hope and be able to get through this by relying on his connections.
Just as the last group of flustered guests slipped away through the back door, and the staff frantically flushed the last few packets of "candy" down the drain, before they could even clean up the remaining traces, the casino's magnificent main entrance was violently smashed open with a "bang"!
"Police! Don't move!"
Fully armed riot police surged in like a tide, quickly taking control of all exits and key locations.
The once brightly lit and bustling casino lobby was now quiet.
Chief Lionel Schultz, dressed in a crisp police uniform, strode at the front, his gaze sweeping across the messy casino like a searchlight, especially towards the VIP rooms that hadn't been cleaned up yet.
Fermyn immediately put on a professional, slightly obsequious smile, jogged over, pulled an expensive cigarette from his pocket and offered it to Fermyn, trying to ease the tension: "Director Schultz! What brings you here?"
Schultz didn't even glance at the cigarette offered to him. He simply waved his hand and ordered the officers behind him, "Seal off the scene! All personnel remain on site for inspection. The casino is to cease operations. Seal the area until the investigation is complete!"
"Close the venue?"
Fermín's smile froze instantly, and the sweat he had just wiped from his forehead reappeared. He forced himself to remain calm, "Chief, why is this? There has to be a reason, right? If our business stops for even a day, the losses will be astronomical."
Schultz abruptly turned his head, staring at Fermín with a sinister gaze, interrupting him in a low voice, "Do the police need to report their reasons to you when they do something?"
Fermín felt uneasy under that gaze.
Schultz stopped wasting words with him, took a step forward, almost touching Fermín, and suddenly grabbed Fermín's collar, pulling him close. He lowered his voice, each word piercing Fermín's ears like an ice pick: "Don't give me that! Where is the 'extraterrestrial object'? Where are those drugs hidden? Tell me!"
Fermín felt his breath catch in his throat, his heart nearly leaping out of his throat, but he knew he absolutely could not admit it now, or it would all be over.
He shook his head frantically, forcing an innocent and aggrieved expression on his face: "Drugs? Chief, are you kidding me! This is a legitimate casino, how could we have such a thing? This is absolutely a frame-up! Someone is jealous of our good business and deliberately framed us!"
"frame?"
Schultz snorted and leaned closer, his voice so soft that only the two of them could hear, "Fermin, don't think you're so great just because you have some big shot backing you. In my eyes, drug trafficking is a red line that you can't touch."
Schultz released Fermín's collar. "Search! Every room, every corner, especially the secret rooms and hidden compartments. Don't miss a single one. Take away all the staff on duty tonight, especially those in the VIP area, and interrogate them separately!"
"I'll dig three feet into the ground, I refuse to believe I can't find it!"
