Chapter 2109: So boring!
Chapter 2109 is extremely boring!
Deep within the source of the dragon vein, Zod and Blaze raced across the underground lake, crashing together like streaks of light, leaving ripples trailing behind them. A storm of solar power howled, whipping up countless waves.
The underground lake beneath the source of this dragon vein is quite special. It appears to be clean water, but it is actually something else entirely. Even under the influence of the sun's power, it remains completely unchanged, merely altering its shape under the impact.
"According to the usual procedure, shouldn't we be at the point where you're questioning me? Is the pace of the battle so intense that talking is affecting your breathing?"
"You talk too much nonsense. I've already said it, your affairs are utterly boring!"
Blaze punched Zod in the face, and Zod retaliated by punching Blaze in the face as well. The two were sent flying at the same time, crashing into the water.
Blaze propped himself up, wanting to spit out the blood in his mouth, but when he saw the clean underground lake at his feet, he swallowed the blood back down.
"How many times do you think I've encountered this situation, it's always the same?"
"You used to be a good person, wanting to do many good deeds. Even though you failed far more often than you succeeded, you persevered. But one day, you couldn't hold on any longer and suddenly collapsed, realizing the reality. But reality didn't make you give up; it just narrowed your vision, making you only see the results."
"Once people start pursuing results, they will start taking shortcuts, which will inevitably lead to getting lost. What the king could not do, he became a god and used the law of the gods and faith to achieve the desired result, but you went astray on the wrong path."
Zod paused for a moment, seemingly not expecting Blazer to summarize in such a way.
After a moment of surprise, he chuckled and pointed upwards. Through the thick rock wall, inside the Great Beast God's Goblet of Flame, the Great Red Dragon Beast God Priests were fighting alongside the Gray Great Red Dragon.
"What kind of god a god becomes is not up to him. I once thought about bringing peace to this place, but the people here crave savagery itself."
“Violent conquest and punitive expeditions are seen as a barbaric celebration, and gentle teachings are seen as a sign of weakness. They will immediately bare their fangs and wantonly destroy the hard-won peace.”
"That savagery is like these priests. No matter how many times you kill them, they will rise again, just like when you have accomplished 99.9% of something, but you can never overcome the last 0.1%."
Blaze narrowed his eyes, noticing the "human" Zod had mentioned.
"My lover died, my like-minded friends died, and my descendants and their descendants all died. Many years later, in a daze, I realized that I was fighting for completely unfamiliar faces, heading towards a place I didn't know if it was my destination. And those unfamiliar faces were constantly and easily destroying the peace that I had worked so hard to create."
“They even destroyed me.”
"I still can't understand what those people were thinking; that's probably just ordinary evil."
Zod's voice was very calm. He crossed his arms, looked up at the rock wall above him, and seemed to have a strange smile in his voice.
That smile sent chills down Blaze's spine; he couldn't fathom what Zod, who possessed such terrifying power as the Dragon Vein, was thinking.
"Even when my way of thinking no longer belonged to me, as the Great Beast God, in my last moments before being defeated, what I was thinking was whether my death would end everything, whether sharing my power would allow everyone to have power, and whether this world would no longer be a place where the strong prey on the weak."
"But as you can see, the great beast god Zod died, and they began to create the next great beast god."
"It seems like it doesn't matter whether I'm there or not, so what should I be fighting for, what should I be doing to keep going? Should I be fighting for myself?"
“Can’t I do it for myself?” Blazer said.
Zod laughed out loud, and this time he was genuinely mocking him.
"Is it appropriate for you to say that? How can you possibly persevere just for yourself?" "So what exactly do you want?"
“Let’s play a game, a bet, on whether you can save the orcish lands.” Zod crossed his arms and tilted his head as if deep in thought.
"Our original bet was our names, but since you already know that, let's change it."
Zod turned his back to Blaze, untied his old ceremonial robes from his waist, revealing his incredibly strong back, like that of a giant, ancient tree.
The center of the back, where the spine is, features a pattern identical to that of a serpentine dragon coiled beneath the water.
The dragon seemed to be soaring towards the sky, its majestic form connecting everything, linking every muscle and bone of Zod together into a single entity.
"If you win, here you go."
"Of course, if you think the betting game is too difficult, you can choose to just take it away. That way, you'll still win. How about that?"
"What's the difference between that and what I was just doing?" Blaze already knew that the Dragon Vein Totem equipment was on Zod's back, and he tried to touch it halfway through.
However, when facing an enemy of the same level and with almost identical conditions, it is nearly impossible to touch their back.
"Really? Then it seems I need to give you some motivation. Oh, the timing is just right. Those strangers are really quite strong."
Zod suddenly smiled, and an ominous premonition rose in Blazer's heart.
The thirteen great red dragon priests once again formed a strange circular procession, and amidst their prayers in an ancient language, the gray great red dragon let out a deafening roar.
The roar traveled from the Great Beast God's Goblet of Fire all the way to the source of the dragon vein deep within.
The combination of Greenland and Guild Master Zero has driven the Grey Red Dragon to a dead end. This dead end is not because the Grey Red Dragon is about to be defeated, but because the Grey Red Dragon's appearance has left it with no chance of winning.
In order to win and to survive, the gray dragon underwent further changes.
The roar was a summons, a gray-red dragon born from the great red dragon totem created based on the dragon vein, possessing characteristics that Greenland did not have.
Greenland is just a Great Red Dragon, while the Gray Great Red Dragon is the Great Red Dragon Beast God. It is not only a Great Red Dragon, but also a Great Beast God, possessing the connection ability of a Great Beast God.
In other words, the Great Red Dragon Beast God can do the same thing as Zod!
Accompanied by the series of dragon roars, something seemed to begin to resonate.
Blazer charged at Zod with ferocious attacks, each blow aimed directly at Zod's back. He didn't dodge a single attack from Zod and took them all head-on.
Zod smiled as he capitalized on Blaze's opening and launched his attack casually.
"I told you that 'for yourself' is a rather meaningless phrase, you're still fighting for others."
