Chapter 2141 Orc Curse Chapter 03
Chapter 2141 Orc Curse Chapter 03
Captain Barber wanted to slap himself. Why did he have to be so talkative? Just because they considered it common sense and could casually bring it up didn't mean it was common sense to strangers.
And now, we can't leave.
"That's just a legend; it doesn't prove anything."
"No, no, you can't say that."
Dali Feizhuan shook his finger and spat out a string of strangely accented English, which made Captain Barbo shudder.
It wasn't that he was afraid the Flying Brick would cast a curse on him; the Flying Brick wouldn't need so many steps to harm him. He was simply uncomfortable with the strange sound he heard.
"First of all, in your eyes, that is, in the eyes of humans, orcs are just a kind of humanoid monsters. There are many humanoid monsters. Why is there no Goblin God or Troll God, but only a legend of a Great Beast God? Humans have not even explored the orc regions much and know very little about orcs."
"This one……"
Captain Barbossa stammered, unsure how to explain, and could only cover his embarrassment with drinking, muttering, "How would a man at sea like me know these things?"
Fortunately, Dali Feizhuan didn't make things difficult for him. Instead, he chatted excitedly with his fellow enthusiasts.
"If there is a God, then there must be a clear social structure, language, customs, and it is even possible that there were primitive tribes!"
"That makes sense! Wait, have we discovered something big?!"
Excitement appeared on everyone's face as they began to discuss it animatedly; even Kate the cat was beaming with excitement.
In this game, which is arguably the worst at gathering intelligence and completing missions, finding any information that might be related to a mission is something to be thankful for.
Looking at the excited strangers before him, who were like children, Captain Barbo felt a little uneasy and took a swig of wine. The strangers had been visiting this world for a year, and their strange inhumanity made everyone feel repulsed or fearful.
But sometimes, people from other places show a purer side of humanity, which makes people yearn for it.
Just like now, these strangers reminded him of his youth, when he and like-minded people discussed the end of the sea. Ironically, he had just felt a chill because of these people, and now he couldn't help but want to join the conversation.
"Are you saying that orcs, like humans, have a culture? I admit they do have ethnic groups, but to say they're like humans is a huge exaggeration."
"Not necessarily."
One of the pirates retorted in a low voice, sitting in the shadows as if he were wary, talking to himself.
The pirates had incredibly sharp ears, able to detect even the slightest movement in the surging waves. They immediately surrounded the pirate noisily, ushering him to the players' table.
The pirates exchanged glances, and Dali Feizhu, having become quite familiar with these NPCs who were nothing like NPCs, imitated Kate the Cat by throwing a gold coin at the counter.
However, Kate's cat fell into the wine glass, while he embedded himself in it. The glass remained unmoved, but the gold coin was embedded in it. This technique drew applause from the pirates.
Mighty Flying Brick calmly pressed it down, indicating that it was a trivial matter. Only Kate Cat noticed Mighty Flying Brick's upward-rolling eyes, which were rolling with smugness.
She shook her head helplessly, picked up her wine glass, and took a sip of milk.
Performance aside, business must not be forgotten, but the protagonist has changed from the players to the pirate who seems to know some great secret. "I overheard it by chance. The Crusades called orcs a race of other races. Out of deadly curiosity, I followed this word and discovered a deliberately hidden piece of history."
Everyone held their breath, wondering if the secrets of the Crusades could unveil the mysteries surrounding the orcs.
Suddenly, the pirate scratched the back of his head and chuckled.
"That's all I know. My survival instinct tells me that if I know any more, I'll be in big trouble."
"I think you're just talking nonsense." Captain Barbos slammed his fist on the table in anger, almost smashing the bottle open on the head of this pretentious guy.
"Who doesn't know that the Crusaders don't kill people, unless you're a heretic, and definitely a heretic."
"That's not how it works. Perhaps what gives me this sense of crisis isn't the Crusades, but something much darker."
The pirates acted as if they were just putting on a brave face, but Dali Feizhu and the other players all had thoughtful expressions on their faces.
Such vagueness, ambiguity, and unclear statements, even from the narrator himself, are what make a true secret seem. This is especially true of the Cretan pirates, who, when peddling fake treasure maps, speak eloquently, using carefully crafted rhetoric. But when asked about crucial details, they become vague and evasive.
They were just casually mentioning where they were going to build a guild base, but they never expected to uncover information about a special mission.
However, there are still no mission prompts, which means they haven't even caught the tail of the key intelligence.
So, should they continue? They exchanged glances and thoughts, and the answer was, of course, to continue, because it was just too boring.
Before the Titans were defeated, players didn't know how to increase their favorability with NPCs. They couldn't even get quests from NPCs, let alone have conversations with them. Even if they tried to do good deeds, their reputation would be dragged down by other players who did evil at will.
Unless an individual makes an outstanding contribution, they will be classified as a stranger by NPCs and share the same favorability rating. This is a terrible and hopeless setting that makes me want to quit the game.
That's a classic case of good deeds going unnoticed while bad deeds travel far and wide; the stranger's infamy spread to almost every street and alley in every kingdom.
Who can stand doing good deeds only to be implicated by others who do bad deeds?
Only chaotic forces like pirates, or mentally unstable kings from the Third Kingdom, would dare to accept them.
With the Titan constantly moving and most monsters hiding, players have to compete for even a few monsters, making it impossible to fully utilize their hard-earned skills, resulting in an extremely harsh game environment.
Now that the Titans have been defeated, the monster ecosystem is finally coming alive, and the game's hardcore yet incredibly exciting and thrilling side is finally being revealed, attracting a large number of players.
But for these people, it's still not enough. They still need to fight monsters. They crave communication and want to know more about the world's stories. Relying solely on their own two feet and their own eyes, they can only see a small part of it.
Sound can travel further.
"Start voting: should we farm materials on Titan hybrids, or search for the secrets of orcs who are just ordinary wild monsters?"
The answer, of course, is unanimous approval.
