Chapter 763, Section 2.8, Chapter 12: The Silver Court

"It's finally over... I thought I was going to have to stay here tonight..." Cang Shi yawned, stretched, and twisted his neck as he walked towards the front door.

Following behind Cang Shi, Bertias glanced briefly at Mu Yin, who remained silent, and frowned slightly. She felt that something was not right, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"Mu Yin, what are you thinking about?" Bertias asked.

“No…” Mu Yin shook his head, “I was just thinking about the last question that guy asked me.”

"What's the problem?" Cang Shi asked curiously.

"Do you believe in God?" That's what he asked. What about you?

"There are only two answers to this question, right?" Cang Shi raised an eyebrow.

“At dawn, one must not look directly at God, for one will be burned. Darkness obscures part of God’s light, and that is the only time one can look directly at God. However, despicable thieves have hidden God. Now, people have forgotten God’s existence, and only the world of strange phenomena retains traces of Him. Therefore, there are no stars or moon in the mortal world, but only a black moon in the world of strange phenomena. This is the doctrine preached by the Church.” Bertias turned to look at the towering church and spoke slowly.

Mu Yin scoffed at Bertias's words, "There are no gods in this world, and I have no faith. Gods are just a spiritual crutch for the weak, and they have no meaning other than self-comfort."

Cang Shi clapped his hands. "As expected of you, I guess I believe what you say..."

She whispered, "After all, I am weak, and I will pray that God will have mercy on me."

"Will it be useful?" Mu Yin asked rhetorically.

Cang Shi laughed and said, "I'm alive now because I prayed to the gods. Isn't that enough of an explanation?"

Bertias interrupted Mu Yin's attempt to continue asking questions, saying, "It's time to go home; we have school tomorrow."

"Huh? Bell always interrupts me at crucial moments." Cang Shi blinked innocently.

“Because you can’t say anything nice,” Bertias said coldly.

“I’m being very serious,” Cang Shi said with a light laugh.

"Are you taking this seriously and talking nonsense?" Bertias retorted.

Suddenly, an unfamiliar voice rang out, "You guys are really energetic in the middle of the night."

Cang Shi saw the young man walking towards them from a distance and asked in surprise, "Ah Hong? What brings you here?"

"I have an urgent mission to find Xiao Bei, so I'm taking him with me." Ah Hong gave Bertias a look, and the latter followed.

"Bye-bye~" Cang Shi waved to the departing figures of the two.

So, only Mu Yin and Cang Shi remained in front of the church.

"Who is he?" Mu Yin asked.

"You mean Ah Hong?" Cang Shi pondered. "He's from the intelligence team. I haven't had much contact with him; I've only met him three times, including this time. Bell has always been the one who liaises with him."

"To be honest, I don't think we get along, so I've been avoiding contact with him. He probably realized that too, so he's been quite cooperative with me."

Cang Shi glanced at the time on his watch and asked, "Mu Yin, is someone coming to pick you up?"

"The butler will come to pick me up," Mu Yin said.

"Well then, let's part ways here. We're going in opposite directions, so we can't hitch a ride with you."

As Cang Shi passed by Mu Yin, he suddenly murmured in a very soft voice, "You see..."

After Cang Shi left, Mu Yin suddenly realized, "Huh?! I don't think I mentioned my home address, how did she know?"

"Never mind, I wasn't planning on going back right now anyway." Mu Yin looked at the towering church. "That guy... should still be here. Let's go ask about the key..."

He stretched and then slowly walked towards the detention center building.

He easily evaded the patrol officers and reached the window. Touching the glass with his fingertips to confirm it wasn't locked, he opened the window and climbed inside. Mu Yin didn't consider whether it was a trap; he was confident that even if caught red-handed, he could easily escape.

In the dark archives, he used the key inserted in the lock to open the filing cabinet.

Light footsteps sounded outside the door, finally stopping at the entrance to the archives room.

Mu Yin paused in his search for the file, then said angrily, "Tch! We've been found out."

Even so, he still had no intention of running away immediately. He simply stayed where he was, watching the wooden door slowly open.

A 'snap' sound rang out, and the incandescent light illuminated the dim room.

Standing at the door was a little girl with pigtails who looked to be only 8 years old at the end of the month. Her delicate and pretty face was expressionless, and her icy blue eyes were fixed on Mu Yin inside the room.

“I clearly didn’t make a sound,” Mu Yin said.

“I didn’t rely on my hearing to judge,” the little girl said softly. “This archive room was specifically designed to deal with you.”

"Does the church have children too?" Mu Yin asked curiously.

"The church will adopt homeless children." The little girl walked to the sofa not far from Mu Yin and sat down, gesturing for him to sit opposite her.

Mu Yin sat down opposite him, looked at her attire, and frowned. "But you... clearly don't look like an adopted homeless child."

"I am indeed a homeless child," the little girl said calmly.

"It doesn't seem like it," Mu Yin shook his head.

The little girl had no intention of arguing with Mu Yin any longer. She changed the subject and said, "I know why you came."

Mu Yin countered, "So what?"

"Let's play a game." The little girl opened the drawer of the coffee table and took out an exquisite wooden box.

She opened the wooden box and showed Mu Yin what was inside.

Inside the wooden box, on a black velvet lining, are 13 exquisite yet completely different bronze wind-up keys. The only thing these 13 keys have in common is that the keyhole is shaped like a lily.

"If you win this game, you can take a wind-up key, but I can't guarantee it won't be the one you're looking for." The little girl looked at Mu Yin and asked, "Do you want to play?"

"Are there only 13 of them?" Mu Yin asked.

The little girl said, "If you can find the 14th one in this archive, you can count that too."

"what game?"

The little girl took a golden coin out of her pocket. One side of it was a phoenix, and the other side was a bunch of seven black lilies in different shapes.

"It's very simple, just flip a coin. Heads for a bird, tails for a suit. Only one round, one game to decide the winner. If you guess right, you can take a wind-up key, but if you guess wrong, you can only go back."

The little girl placed the gold coin face up on her right thumb. With a slight movement of her finger, the coin bounced high into the air and then slowly fell back down.

She reached out and caught it, her right hand clenched into a fist with her fingers pointing upwards. The little girl held the hand that had caught the gold coin up to Mu Yin and asked, "Heads... or tails?"

Mu Yin looked at the hand and slowly said, "Rebel."

"Are you sure? This is your only chance," the little girl asked again.

"open it."

The little girl slowly opened her hand as instructed.

Guess who this little girl is?
