Chapter 267 Elder Mu

The aged voice continued, "Huo Yuhao, Wang Dong'er, Xiao Xiao, and Di Qianqiu, the four of you will remain on Seagod Island for the time being and cultivate with me for a period of time. You may return to the outer courtyard only when I deem you ready to leave."

"Alright, that's enough for now, meeting adjourned."

Although the aged voice sounded gentle and kind, everything he said naturally carried an air of conviction and unquestionable authority. All the elders of the Sea God Pavilion and the four deans stood up and respectfully bowed to the reclining Elder Mu. Then, in the next instant, the figures of the elders disappeared from the Sea God Pavilion, leaving only Elder Xuan, the four deans, and Fan Yu behind.

"You all go ahead, just Huo Yuhao and the other three stay here," Elder Mu waved his hand.

"Yes." Yan Shaozhe respectfully agreed and quietly led the group away.

Before leaving, Bei Bei and the others glanced at the four of them curiously. Although Elder Mu did not explain, they had all guessed that the reason he kept Huo Yuhao, Wang Dong'er, and Xiao Xiao was because of their twin martial souls. Therefore, they did not have any other thoughts. After all, twin martial soul masters were geniuses among geniuses, so it was not surprising that they were valued.

As for Di Qianqiu, a twelve-year-old Soul Master, even disregarding the freakish Huo Yuhao, Di Qianqiu could be considered a super genius.

After everyone else had left the Sea God Pavilion, Huo Yuhao chuckled and, amidst the shocked gazes of Xiao Xiao and the other two, naturally walked behind Elder Mu and began to massage his back: "Teacher, you see how much I've sacrificed in this competition. As your teacher, aren't you going to give your disciple some other rewards?"

Old Mu laughed and scolded, "You don't only have me as your tutor, why don't you ask someone else?"

Huo Yuhao chuckled and said, "That's because you're of a higher level. How can the others compare to you?"

Old Mu chuckled lightly, ignoring the lazy little fellow, and slowly stood up.

Xiao Xiao, Wang Dong'er, and Di Qianqiu, who were standing nearby, were already stunned. A registered teacher? Yuhao and this old man seemed to know each other very well?

How many secrets is Yuhao still hiding?

Huo Yuhao, with keen insight, stepped forward and took Old Mu's hand. Old Mu's movements were slow, truly like that of an elderly person entering their twilight years, as he slowly rose from the recliner. However, his back remained hunched, almost at a ninety-degree angle, a sight that evoked a pang of sadness.

Old Mu's arms were thin and warm to the touch, but also bony and stiff. Looking at this old man who had devoted his life to Shrek Academy, Huo Yuhao subconsciously suppressed his smile. As a transmigrator, he was someone who lacked a sense of belonging and faith, but Old Mu was different. Although Huo Yuhao didn't quite agree with Old Mu's faith and loyalty, he had to give this old man the respect he deserved.

Seeing the three somewhat stunned young girls, Elder Mu clearly had no intention of explaining. He simply chuckled and changed the subject: "I'm not lying here to show off. I suffered a minor injury when I was young, and I've never fully recovered since. I can only be bent over like this. They felt sorry for me, so they prepared a reclining chair for me." Huo Yuhao thought to himself: You've sent the head of a sect to the Yellow Springs! If my cheap teacher were here, even just lying here like this would be enough to show off.
As he spoke, Old Mu pointed in a direction, and Huo Yuhao, understanding, helped him slowly forward. The three girls exchanged glances, but didn't ask any questions, instead obediently following behind.

Huo Yuhao helped Elder Mu to a wall. Elder Mu pointed, and instantly, a golden light shone, making everything around them seem illusory. A dense golden halo instantly enveloped Huo Yuhao and the other three. They felt a flash of light before their eyes and quickly closed them. Then, they simultaneously felt their feet sink into the ground. The next moment, when their feet touched solid ground, the golden light around them had quietly dissipated.

The original Sea God Pavilion was gone. To their surprise, they found themselves in a spacious hall. This huge hall was a hundred meters long and square in shape, with an area roughly the same as the arena where they participated in the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Battle Tournament.

Several passageways flank the main hall, their destinations unknown. There are no windows; everything is enclosed, yet the air is remarkably fresh. Inside the hall stand statues, just like those at the entrance to Shrek Academy, depicting the academy's founders—the Golden Iron Triangle—along with the first generation of the Shrek Seven Devils. However, these statues are much smaller than those at the academy's entrance, and appear to be made of wood.

Looking at all this, Huo Yuhao's heart stirred: Could this be the interior of the legendary Golden Ancient Tree?
Old Master Mu smiled and said, "Aren't you wondering why the Sea God Pavilion doesn't look very impressive? But I don't know if you've noticed, the Sea God Pavilion wasn't built, but carved."

“Carving?” Wang Dong’er was slightly taken aback and asked in confusion.

Elder Mu said, "The Sea God Pavilion was originally a great tree, a rare golden tree, a tree that possesses light and the breath of life. Without affecting the life of this golden tree, the academy's predecessors and great masters directly used this golden tree as the foundation to carve the Sea God Pavilion."

"Therefore, the Sea God Pavilion you see has no trace of splicing. And the various furnishings inside the Sea God Pavilion, as well as the statues in front of you, were all made from the wood that was dug out when it was carved. This golden tree can also be said to be the foundation of our Shrek Academy. You will understand its significance later."

Hearing this, Di Qianqiu lowered her head slightly, a flash of anger in her eyes. Her uncle had mentioned this to her before: this golden tree originally belonged to the core of their Star Dou Great Forest, but it was later transplanted to Shrek Academy by the Sea God Tang San, becoming Shrek's private property!
"Di Qianqiu, go into the first passage on the right. There is a door about ten meters away. Push it open, go in, and sit on the futon inside to cultivate."

Di Qianqiu looked up in surprise and subconsciously glanced at Huo Yuhao. Huo Yuhao nodded to her, and she then followed Elder Mu's instructions with a sense of doubt.

"Xiao Xiao, go through the third passage on the left, then the second door, and cultivate there as well. Wang Dong'er, go through the second passage on the right, then the third door, and cultivate there as well. It's the same for you both. When you wake up from your meditation, you can return to the outer courtyard."

"Yes." Xiao Xiao and Wang Dong'er quickly agreed, winked at Huo Yuhao, and then walked towards the passageway.

After the two left, Huo Yuhao was left to stay with Elder Mu.

Elder Mu turned to look at Huo Yuhao, stared at him for a long time, and then smiled slightly: "You should go too. Take the first passage on the right, and at the end there is a door. Go in and start meditating inside."

Back to being a stay-at-home dad. Continuing with two updates a day.
