Chapter 1010 Secret Operation
On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Wang Zhan and Wang Li kept the front gate tightly closed for the past two days, while the hanging flower gate remained wide open.

Wang Zhan found all the lanterns he had used before, along with some streamers, and decorated the front and back yards festively.

This courtyard hasn't been touched for two years. Although the residents who moved in took good care of it, after two years of wind and rain, the original paint in front has started to fade. But with Wang Zhan's arrangement, it still exudes a festive atmosphere.

Jinbao wandered around the yard, especially the small garden in the backyard, where he would often go. On the other hand, Dayu and Xiaoyu stayed near a small flower bed at the front gate, never leaving, as if they were guarding the gate at all times.

These past two days, apart from the time for the New Year's Eve dinner, the brother and sister took the three of them to the space. They usually stay at home. Wang Zhan is repairing several houses in his backyard. He also plans to clean up the front yard after he finishes cleaning up the backyard. He plans to clean up all of them except for the east wing room where Grandpa Liu lives.

Wang Li is working on the greenhouse. This girl wants a vegetable garden just like the one in the east wing of No. 95 courtyard. For this reason, Wang Zhan even went and dismantled half of the original greenhouse in the east wing and brought back all the materials. This was something he had already discussed with the three families.

The brother and sister were busy in the yard when the front gate was pushed open. Wang Zhan was delighted to see that not only Xiao Si, Xiao Wu, and Da Lao Tie had arrived, but also Yu Fei and Fei Qing. This was quite a gathering.

Wang Zhan laughed and said, "What's up today? Did we make a plan?"

Fei Qing said, "That's right, we made this appointment before the New Year to come over and have a big meal with you, haha!"

Wang Zhan actually believed Fei Qing's words. He had told his buddies before the New Year that they should come over if they were craving meat. Sure enough, the group made an appointment and came over, arriving without bringing anything.

Wang Zhan didn't care at all. Just because it wasn't there on the surface didn't mean it wasn't in the space. Wang Zhan took out money and tickets and asked Xiao Wu and Xiao Si to go to the supply and marketing cooperative at the entrance of the alley to buy some beer. The two guys carried four thermos flasks and went out.

That evening, Wang Zhan didn't dare take out any meat from his spatial storage, so he prepared some cured pork and sausages that he had brought back from Sichuan and Chongqing, and cooked a few dishes. Just as his friends were eating in the main room, sure enough, there was a knock on his door.

Wang Zhan walked to the front yard, and a group of people rushed in. Wang Zhan didn't say anything because the group of people were wearing military uniforms.

The three men leading the group walked in with several of their subordinates. Wang Zhan asked in surprise, "Director Wang, it's so late, is there something you need with this entourage?"

Director Wang said calmly, "We received a report that you are hoarding supplies and plotting something nefarious. What do you have to say about that?"

Wang Zhan said, "I am a family member of a martyr, a family of meritorious individuals. I would never do such a thing. This is a deliberate false accusation. Director Wang, I respect you because you are the director of the subdistrict office, but if you are deliberately framing me, then this matter will not be resolved."

Director Wang was taken aback. She had underestimated the situation. Wang Zhan's repeated concessions had given her the illusion that he was easy to manipulate. But today, it was a direct confrontation, a fight to the death.

Director Wang regretted it a bit. He had only listened to the deaf old lady's side of the story and rushed in like he was on steroids. Perhaps the deaf old lady's mention of more than a thousand kilograms of grain had clouded his judgment.

But now that the die was cast, there was no turning back. Director Wang didn't waste any words and simply said, "Search!"

All the people entered the courtyard and searched it inside and out. Apart from an old hen, there was no food at all. Wang Zhan also cooperated by opening his cellar and secret room, one on the left and one on the right, on both sides of the backyard.

After searching for a while, Director Wang and his team found nothing. They took their partner and sat on the veranda in the backyard, watching the searchers as if they were a group of clowns.

Finally, even the company commander couldn't take it anymore and started arranging for them to return to their units. At this point, Director Wang was in a bind; she stood there, unsure how to end the situation.

Wang Zhan said, "Director, I don't blame you, but you said it was reported by someone, right? At the very least, the person who reported it should be punished, or you'll have to take the blame?" Director Wang was silent for a long time before saying, "I'll give you an explanation after the fifth day of the Lunar New Year."

Director Wang, the deputy director of the police station, and a person from the armed forces department left in a hurry.

At this moment, several of his buddies gathered around and asked about the whole story. Wang Zhan didn't hide anything and told them what had happened.

After thinking for a long time, Xiao Wu said, "It seems our master of the 'smooth cudgel' will have to make a comeback."

Before Wang Zhan could speak, Wang Li clapped her hands and exclaimed, "Brother Xiao Wu is awesome! I'll be the first to follow suit!"

Wang Zhan slapped his forehead, realizing that his sister still couldn't forget about being ambushed.

Courtyard No. 95, West Wing of the Front Yard

Yan Bugui quietly sipped his tea, seemingly lost in thought. Yang Ruihua, still worried about her eldest son—after all, her own flesh and blood—asked, "Husband, you must think of something. No matter what, our son can't be burdened with the crime of being detained."

“I’ve been thinking about it. Yi Zhonghai has been very proactive in organizing this matter this time. I guess he has something else to do with it. That’s why I’m trying to find a solution,” Yan Bugui said.

Yang Ruiping became interested upon hearing this, so he put down his work, went to Yan Bugui's side, sat down, and asked, "Is there anything else here?"

“That’s right. Do you know who your eldest son robbed? It was Wang Zhan from Yu’er Hutong. Isn’t that a coincidence? A while ago, Yi Zhonghai dragged me and Liu Haizhong to report Wang Zhan, but Lao Liu and I both refused,” Yan Bugui said.

"Isn't that troublesome? How can we resolve two things mixed together?" Yang Ruihua said with some concern.

“So, let the boss suffer a bit, we’ll wait. If we wait for Wang Zhan to come to our door now, who knows how much money we’ll have to spend. Right now, Lao Liu is more anxious than we are,” Yan Bugui said with a confident air.

At the Intermediate People's Court, in Yi Zhonghai's home.

Sha Zhu looked at the old man's worried face, puzzled, and asked, "Grandpa, what's wrong with you during the New Year?"

Yi Zhonghai looked at He Yuzhu and thought He Yuzhu was a fool. Even if he had something to say to him, He Yuzhu wouldn't be of any help. So he casually said, "I don't have a good appetite. It's nothing serious."

Sha Zhu said, "Uncle, you need to take care of your health. You're so busy day and night, no one can stand it."

Yi Zhonghai was already distracted, and casually remarked, "What do you know, young man?"

Sha Zhu was displeased upon hearing this and said, "Uncle, I respect you, but how can you talk like that? Fine, you can drink it yourself, I'm leaving."

Sha Zhu turned around, walked out of the Yi family home, and went home to sleep.
