Chapter 979 Brothers Separated
Chapter 979 Brothers Separated
July 10th was Wang Zhan's graduation ceremony. Early on, Wang Zhan sent his younger sister to Grandma Sun's place.
Wang Zhan rode his old-fashioned bicycle straight to school. He hadn't gone all out for the exam, but his score was good enough for him to get into a vocational school. He didn't want to stand out too much.
In fact, he was the only one of his brothers who left school. Xiao Wu had originally been determined to take the entrance exam for vocational school with Wang Zhan, but his parents beat him up, and he gave up the idea of taking the exam.
Da Lao Tie took the high school entrance exam to prepare for joining the army. He had a clear goal and didn't intend to go to university. Xiao Si, on the other hand, had always been a top student and was definitely a university prospect. His father, Lao Li, had high hopes for him.
He Yushui is the same; she's preparing for high school and college entrance exams. This girl is very ambitious right now and is focused on her studies.
This year's graduation ceremony was held simultaneously for both junior high and senior high schools. In reality, not many people graduated from junior high school. Some of them were from families where their circumstances did not allow them to go to school and needed to start working early to ease the burden on their families. Others were simply not academically capable enough to get into senior high school and had no choice but to graduate and leave school.
When Wang Zhan arrived at school, he went to his class first. In fact, there weren't many people in his class who had interacted with him much over the past three years. This was because Wang Zhan had focused his main energy on his family. Apart from Xiao Si, Yu Fei was the only one who was close to Wang Zhan. Yu Fei was also surprised that Wang Zhan went directly to a vocational school.
Those who can get into No. 5 Middle School are the elite of the elite. Their goal is to go to university. Although some drop out, most of them go directly to the senior high school.
Wang Zhan arrived a little early; there weren't many people in the classroom yet. Wang Zhan tidied his desk, which contained some books and notebooks. Just then, someone walked into the classroom and went straight to Wang Zhan's desk, where he sat down.
The classroom suddenly fell silent, causing Wang Zhan to look up. Sitting in front of him was none other than his principal, Principal Wang Yun. Principal Wang adjusted his glasses and said, "Wang Zhan, I still vividly remember your first day reporting to the school. Three years have passed in the blink of an eye. I've been keeping an eye on you, but I never expected you to choose to go to a vocational school. What were you thinking?"
Wang Zhan put down his book, looked at his principal, and said, "Principal Wang, I am very grateful for your attention and care, and I am also grateful for the education I have received from the school over the past three years. However, everyone has their own unavoidable choices, and I won't go into details. It's mainly for my sister's sake. Also, for me, starting work earlier will allow me to take better care of my family. Besides, every profession has its top performers, and being a worker may not be a bad choice."
Principal Wang knew that the boy wasn't telling the truth, but he couldn't force him. Anyway, the matter was already settled, so he sighed and said, "Alright, if you don't want to say more, I won't ask anymore. Maybe your choice was right. Attend the ceremony and come back to visit when you have time."
Principal Wang didn't want to talk anymore. He stood up and walked out of the classroom. Wang Zhan knew that the principal was disappointed with his choice, but Wang Zhan was also firm in his decision. After having the Jade Void Space, Wang Zhan's mentality had changed a lot. Looking at the principal's back, Wang Zhan shook his head helplessly.
The principal had just left the classroom when Xiao Si suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Wang Zhan was startled and asked, "Where did you come from?"
"What do you mean 'suddenly appeared from somewhere'? I've been here for a while. I just saw the principal talking to you, so I didn't dare come over. By the way, what did the principal say to you? Was it about going to vocational school?" Xiao Si said.
"Yeah, that's right. After this happened, what else could happen? I guess they're disappointed in me." Wang Zhan said as he tied the books into a cloth bag in a cross shape, tightened it, and placed it on the table.
Xiao Si opened his mouth as if to say something, but then closed it again. Wang Zhan looked at him and smiled, saying, "Alright, don't bring up this little thing all the time. It's already a done deal, so let's not talk about it anymore."
"I just feel that once you leave school, we'll see each other less," Xiao Si said. "My home is right there. Won't you guys come to see me during your holidays? Don't worry, I don't live on campus. If anything happens, just come to my house. Come on, let's go to the ceremony. It's almost time. By the way, where's Yu Fei?"
Xiao Si pouted and said, "I don't know, he's probably hanging out with the girls again."
Yu Fei has this one bad habit: he can't take his eyes off female classmates and always tries to get close to them, especially in his third year of junior high school, when it got even worse, and he stopped going to Shichahai.
The graduation ceremony was successfully held. As the representative of the graduating junior high school students, the one who went on stage to speak was Zhao Wenhai, who was also the class monitor of Wang Zhan's class. His academic performance was not outstanding, but for some reason, the homeroom teacher and the grade director had high hopes for him.
Wang Zhan couldn't figure it out no matter how hard he thought about it. He guessed that the kid had strong organizational skills? Anyway, Wang Zhan couldn't see any ability in Zhao Wenhai. Moreover, he was a bit jealous of others' talents and liked to put on airs as the class monitor in front of his classmates.
After the graduation ceremony, Wang Zhan first greeted Yu Fei as a farewell. Yu Fei carelessly said that he would come to see him whenever he had free time. Wang Zhan just listened to him. He was busy all day and spent his free time hanging out with female classmates. How could he possibly come to see Wang Zhan?
Xiao Si, Xiao Wu, and Da Lao Tie followed Wang Zhan out of the school. After leaving the school gate, Wang Zhan looked back at the gate of his junior high school, smiled, and headed home without looking back. He had promised to treat his brothers to dinner today, and Xiao Wu was even arranging to buy beer, but Wang Zhan quickly stopped him, saying that he had some at home.
Back in Yu'er Hutong, Wang Zhan first went to pick up his younger sister, telling her that he was back and that she could go home for dinner later.
Wang Zhan then went back to the yard and started preparing the ingredients. His brothers also lent a hand to help, chatting as they worked together.
In the evening, Wang Li came back skipping and hopping with her two little ones. The brothers had already set out the table, chairs, bowls, and chopsticks. Wang Zhan started serving the dishes. There were six simple dishes, nothing fancy, just home-style cooking, but he did make a water shield soup.
The meal consisted of cold shredded vegetables, scrambled eggs with scallions, stir-fried cured pork with chili peppers, stewed chicken with mushrooms, braised carp, and stir-fried cabbage. They drank soda and beer, and the guys filled their glasses to the brim. Wang Zhan didn't waste any words and said, "Let's celebrate our junior high graduation! Cheers!"
The group of brothers ate and chatted, and the three of them accepted the fact that Wang Zhan had left school. Wang Zhan also urged them not to slack off in their studies, especially Xiao Si, who was definitely a college prospect, while Xiao Wu would probably have a hard time getting into college unless a miracle happened.
At the graduation banquet, Xiao Wu was in tears, Xiao Si was dozing off, and only Da Lao Tie and Wang Zhan were awake. Wang Zhan asked Da Lao Tie to send a message to Xiao Si and Xiao Wu's families that they would stay there tonight and go back early tomorrow morning.
Big buddy packed up some chicken stew with mushrooms, rode off leisurely on Wang Zhan's old car, and then Wang Zhan helped Xiao Si and Xiao Wu to the guest room before closing the door and going back to his bedroom to sleep.
