Chapter 488: Xuanzang’s direct transmission of the Consciousness-Only Power!
"Master, be careful. This person has Buddhist skills, and his skills are strange. Even when my senior brother possessed me that day, I was unable to take him down, and had to flee the city!"
When he saw someone jumping out of the jungle to block the fatal arrow of his master Zuo Rutong, Lu Jin recognized the person at a glance. It was the Japanese monk Master Peacock who was possessed by "Wang Yi" and fought against him that night without a clear winner.
Although he didn't know the other party's real name, Lu Jin naturally reminded him loudly when he thought that the other party was a master who couldn't even defeat "Wang Yi" in a short period of time.
However, at this time, Lu Jin was only heard but not seen. This was also the first thing Li Muxuan did when he heard that Lu Jin recognized the other party.
You, Lu Jin, can recognize the other person, and the other person may also be able to recognize you, and he is a master.
You are in disguise now, but what if your master fails to capture the other party and lets him escape, and you just happen to show up and are recognized by the other party as the eldest son of the Lu family, what will happen to Old Master Lu of Lujia Town?
He immediately pulled Lu Jin into the bushes and had to warn him.
"Hmm? Even Wang Yi possessed Lu Jin but couldn't take him down?"
Hearing his apprentice's loud reminder, Zuo Rutong was also delighted.
Although he felt that the reason why Wang Yi possessed Lu Jin and failed to defeat him might be because his stupid disciple's hardware was not up to standard, which resulted in the inserted software "Wang Yi" not running, it also showed that the other party was indeed capable.
Moreover, what is his status in the righteous path of the extraordinary world? He is one of the two leaders of the righteous path. His status is there. If he fights with juniors, it is difficult for him to win or lose. If he fights with his peers, except for Old Zhang Tianshi who can defeat him in one or two moves, other peers are not strong enough for him to beat.
The problem is that everyone has no grudges or hatred against each other in the past or present, so it would be meaningless to just ask for advice, and a life-and-death fight is even more impossible.
But the opponent is different. Firstly, he is young enough, about 30 years old, and he has a short undefeated record against Lu Jin, who is possessed by "Wang Yi". He is a good punching bag.
The second is the other party's identity. He is a young master from Japan and has joined the new political alliance against the Chinese supernatural world that Lu Jin mentioned. These two factors added together, Zuo Rutong is not a pedantic person, so he has no psychological burden in killing him.
Thinking of this, Zuo Rutong moved casually and rushed to the front of the Peacock Monk who came to rescue him.
He raised his hand and struck the opponent's heart. If the palm hit him firmly, the opponent's heart would explode and he would die.
But this time, Lao Zuo failed. The opponent seemed to have foreseen where he was going to attack. He took position first and used his clever strength to neutralize Lao Zuo's palm. At the same time, he kicked the Japanese woman he rescued. The kick was so powerful that there was a sound of bone breaking. The Japanese woman was kicked far away.
Obviously, facing the fierce attack from Zuo Rutong, the leader of the righteous path, Master Peacock was unable to rescue people and cope with it with ease at the same time.
When their fists collided, there was a faint sound of thunder.
Lu Jin and Li Muxuan, who were hiding in the dark and watching this scene, were stunned. How could someone be able to withstand the punches and palm attacks from Zuo Rutong, who had reached the third level of transformation?
This person's life skills are more advanced than the two of them?
Oh, so we are the worst in this rescue mission of Wang Yi?
Before Lu and Li could feel disappointed, Zuo Rutong had already exchanged nearly a hundred moves with the Peacock Master. The opponent kept fighting and retreating, and finally showed his weakness, allowing Zuo Rutong to hit him on the back with a palm, and he used the force to fly out.
However, Zuo Rutong did not pursue, but just stood there, with puffs of smoke coming out of his body, just like the night when "Wang Yi" possessed Lu Jin and had a brief fight with Peacock Master.
After making sure that there were no more ambushes around, Lu and Li walked out of the bushes angrily and came to Zuo Rutong's side.
"Master, I was careless. I didn't expect that someone would follow me all the way without me noticing."
Li Muxuan admitted his mistake honestly. Although Zuo Rutong was there to provide support in the ambush in the forest just now and killed everyone, leaving more than a hundred corpses on the enemy side, the enemy did not expect that Zuo Rutong was on their side, and they did not set up an ambush in advance.
If the other party had grenades and guns to help, this ambush and killing of Zuo Rutong would be a problem, but the same could not be said for the two of them.
"It's not your fault. The one who got you into trouble wasn't the woman who used the magic weapon to hide her body. If she had these assassins, how could I, your master, not know about it? Let them get within ten feet."
"Master, you mean that the reason why Mu Xuan didn't realize he was being followed all the way, and why these killers were able to surround us, was all because of this monk's tricks!"
"Yes, he blinded Mu Xuan's five senses and blocked the killer's footsteps. I didn't notice it until he was ten feet away. He was so bold just now that he was able to deceive my strength and turned my five-point strength into three-point strength."
Every time Zuo Rutong spoke, Lu Jin and Li Muxuan became more surprised.
The other party's methods were mysterious, obscuring Li Muxuan's five senses and covering up the slightest noises made by so many killers. Li Muxuan admitted defeat. His cultivation was not as high as others, and his methods were inferior to others. He accepted it.
But even for Zuo Rutong, the person he always respected and regarded as his adopted parent, the opponent dared to use his own methods to make Zuo Rutong misjudge the strength of each move during the fight. This confidence and precise control of his own methods, and the courage to dance on the edge of a knife, were unexpectedly found in a Japanese monk.
"Master, what method did the other party use? Do you recognize it?"
"Only consciousness has no boundaries, and only consciousness can change. This is the secret method of the Consciousness-Only School created by the great Buddhist monk Tripitaka, the Consciousness-Only Power. I didn't expect that after a thousand years, this long-lost Buddhist secret method would appear in the hands of Buddhist disciples in the Four Islands. But since they can learn this Consciousness-Only Power, they must be enlightened and well-versed in Buddhist principles. Why did they do this to help the tyrant?"
Among the three terms, Master Tripitaka, Consciousness-Only School, and Consciousness-Only Power, Lu Jin and Li Muxuan only knew of Master Tripitaka, but whether it was the one they knew was another matter.
The so-called Tripitaka is a respectful title for those who are proficient in the Buddhist Tripitaka, namely, sutras, precepts and treatises. Anyone who is proficient in the Buddhist Tripitaka can be called a Tripitaka Master.
"Master, can you tell us the origin of the relationship between these three?"
Li Muxuan asked the first question, and his previous annoyance was immediately forgotten.
"Well, we shouldn't stay here for long. Let's talk while we walk."
-
There are many great monks in Buddhism who are called Tripitaka Master, and the most famous one is Master Xuanzang, who during the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, because the government refused to approve the pass, he packed his bags and smuggled out of Chang'an, traveled thousands of miles west, and came to India to seek Buddhist scriptures.
There are strange people in this world, there are extraterrestrial civilizations that exist as observers, and there are immortal elves who have cultivated the climate, but there are no gods and demons. In other words, the strange people are the gods and demons in the myths of civilizations everywhere.
So, Monkey King, Pigsy, and Monk Sha may really exist, but they are just a few people born with different appearances. Let's not talk about whether they are true or not. Let's talk about Master Xuanzang who wanted to go to India to learn Buddhist scriptures. He traveled through mountains and rivers, slept in the open air, suffered natural disasters and man-made disasters, and the yellow sand of the desert. He drank dew when he was thirsty and ate dry food when he was hungry. He came to India to learn Buddhist scriptures. But when he got what he thought was the real scriptures, he found that the scriptures didn't taste right.
To say that the true scriptures I obtained are fake, that is indeed not the case. However, why is my understanding of the scriptures different from that of the people here?
Is it because I don't have a deep enough understanding of the scriptures? Am I thinking in the wrong way? No, I can't be so careless. There are monks everywhere in India. I can set up a stage and debate with them to see if I have misunderstood.
Anyway, in the end, the shame will be brought to me, Xuanzang, and not to the Tang Dynasty.
Then, Master Xuanzang realized how lonely it was to be invincible. In such a huge country like India, there was not a single person who could fight him!
And when he looked back, the true scriptures he was seeking were already written all along the thousands of miles journey to the west.
Once he had enlightenment, Master Xuanzang no longer lingered in India to debate scriptures. He returned to the Tang Dynasty with the scriptures he had obtained, landed in Chang'an, and was honored. Even Emperor Taizong of Tang was fond of Master Xuanzang and asked him to return to secular life and work under him many times. After all, he was a brave man who traveled thousands of miles to India to obtain scriptures. Not to mention the man-made disasters along the way, the natural disasters and wild beasts blocking the road were a hurdle.
Do you really think that people in ancient times could get away with nothing if they took the official road out of the city?
But Master Xuanzang declined the offer and spent the rest of his life in seclusion, translating the Buddhist scriptures he brought from India one by one. In the process of translating the Buddhist scriptures, he combined his life experiences and the scriptures in his hands to create a secret scroll of Consciousness-Only Power, which he hid in the scriptures he translated.
"Master, is this Master Xuanzang the same as us?"
"I don't know, but I don't think so. According to historical records, Master Xuanzang lived no more than 62 years old, three years younger than me. But you shouldn't look down on him. Not all the methods in the world were created by extraordinary people. Living in this world, you should understand this principle even more."
At Lu Jin's suggestion, the three masters and apprentices rushed to Lujia Town, not far from Jinling City, to hide and see the situation. On the way, Zuo Rutong also explained to Lu and Li the origin of the methods used by Peacock Master.
Lu Jin, who was standing by, thought about it carefully and suddenly said, "The Consciousness-Only School, could it be the Dharma-Appearance School of Buddhism?"
"Yes, it is another name for the Dharma Characteristics School founded by Master Xuanzang. The Consciousness-Only School was passed down, but the Consciousness-Only Secret Scroll created by Master Xuanzang was lost as early as the Tang Dynasty."
"Then Master, what is the magical power of this consciousness-only force? Even you, Master, were unable to defeat this Japanese monk just now."
"You are tempted, but even if you want to, I am afraid I can't give you any guidance. The Consciousness-Only School has been lost since the Tang Dynasty, and I only know the general idea from the words of my predecessor. The reason why the Consciousness-Only Power has been lost is also very simple. If you want to learn the Consciousness-Only Power, you need to read the classics left by Master Xuanzang. Only by understanding the classics can you find the method of practicing the Consciousness-Only Power left by Master Xuanzang in the classics.
But how many people in Buddhism can reach the level of Master Xuanzang? His innate conditions are enough to discourage too many people in Buddhism, so the Consciousness-Only School has been passed down continuously. The Consciousness-Only Power has not been heard of since the Tang Dynasty. Now that it has reappeared in the hands of monks in these four island countries, it seems that when Master Jianzhen traveled to Japan during the Tianbao period, the Consciousness-Only School was included in the scriptures he brought with him. This Master Jianzhen is probably also the successor of Master Xuanzang's Consciousness-Only Power.
As for the means of this consciousness-only power, there is a theory of eight consciousnesses in Buddhism, namely eyes, ears, mouth, nose and body, which are the five senses. They are the foundation of consciousness-only power and the beginning of means. The first level of consciousness-only power is to understand the consciousness that controls these five senses. At this point, there are infinite magical uses. You can peel off and confuse the five senses of others, or you can seal your own five senses. You can sneak around without sound or movement, attack without leaving any trace, and stop without intention. Mu Xuan is obsessed with the way of the five senses. "
Listening to Zuo Rutong talking about the Japanese monk's magical skills, Li Muxuan's face was covered in cold sweat.
He had never heard of such a method that could block and confuse the five senses of others. If it really fell into the hands of the other party, wouldn't it be more painful than death? With just a little trick, you can be stripped of your five senses and become a living dead person who can't move, speak, see or hear.
When Li Muxuan thought of that scene, he shuddered on the way.
"As for the seventh consciousness, manas, and the eighth consciousness, alaya-vijnana, I don't know. Even during the Tang Dynasty when Master Xuanzang brought the true scriptures, there were only a few active descendants of the Yogacara school. Among them, those who can control the six consciousnesses are rare, and the seventh and eighth consciousnesses are even more unheard of. But I heard from Master Jueming of Lingyin Temple in my early years that if one can cultivate manas alone, one can see oneself and be ethereal at all times. From then on, the inner demons will disappear, the mind will be calm, and the path of cultivation will be smooth.
There are also various supernatural powers, such as telepathy. In addition to being able to communicate directly with people, he can also understand the thoughts of birds, insects, fish, and beasts, and has the ability to predict the future and avoid disasters.
As Zuo Rutong talked about his insights into the thousand-year-old Consciousness-Only Power, Lu Jin and Li Muxuan became more and more shocked the more they listened.
"Brother, after hearing what Master said, the Consciousness-Only Power created by Master Xuanzang is many levels stronger than the Ruyi Power of the Lu Family. Could it be another method of cultivating both the body and the soul?"
"That has nothing to do with us. No matter how exquisite and wonderful the Consciousness-Only Power is, it has nothing to do with our Three-One Wonderful Dharma. Junior Brother, don't think too much."
Listening to the questions and answers from the two disciples beside him, a smile appeared on Zuo Rutong's face.
Lu Jin, born into a famous family, is highly talented, has a strong character, is both enterprising and has the wisdom to make up for others, which can be seen from the examination in the front yard when he was admitted to Trinity School.
Although he admired Trinity School and wanted to pass the assessment to join the academy, he would not force himself to exceed the entrance assessment requirements or be lazy. One is one, two is two, and it is what it should be. Even if he failed in the end, he would not worry about the gain or the loss. He had a sense of contentment and was happy that if he succeeded, he was lucky, and if he failed, it was his fate.
This is the most important point in practicing the three levels of reverse rebirth. How many Trinity disciples knew there was no hope of breaking through when they were about to break through, but they still held on to the idea that they might succeed in a small way and ended up breaking through with minor injuries turning into disability, and disability turning into sudden death.
Li Muxuan, the son of a merchant family, was influenced by his surroundings and had become more shrewd and cunning like a businessman.
There is a saying that goes, anything is allowed unless prohibited by law. This saying is most appropriate for businessmen. So when Li Muxuan was taking the Trinity assessment, everything he did was just on the edge of the assessment requirements. If the assessor were to judge with subjective emotions, he would feel that something was wrong, but would not be able to put his finger on it.
From the conversation just now, we can see that the two disciples have different views on the lost Consciousness-Only Power that reappeared after a thousand years. One is thinking about whether he can capture the Japanese monk, or fight with him a few more times, so as to learn from others' experience and verify what needs to be supplemented in the new method of reversing life. In simple terms, he is crossing the river by feeling the stones.
Lu Jin was straightforward. Since this new method of rebirth already existed, why bother to go far away? He had never expected to develop a new method of rebirth in one generation. Now that he finally had it, he should cherish it and explore it bit by bit by himself. There was no need to do anything unnecessary.
The two disciples, one righteous and one strange, complement each other.
With such a good group of disciples, what more could I ask for?
Seeing a faint smile on Zuo Rutong's face, Lu Jin and Li Muxuan stopped bickering and followed Zuo Rutong silently. They arrived at Lujia Town at the second watch and entered the Lu family's old house quietly.
