Warhammer: Beginning with Planetary Governors

Chapter 747 Cardo Diego, a mighty warrior emerging from the warp?!

Chapter 747 Cardo Diego, a mighty warrior emerging from the warp?!
"Ha, what a ridiculous fate, the cursed one left behind a foolish instruction."

The Lord of Change seemed to be spying on something, relentlessly mocking the Emperor:
"What he left behind will cause chaos in the empire, which will be advantageous to our offensive..."

The god of intrigue looked at the other three supreme deities:

"Gentlemen, everything is going according to plan; the destiny leading to victory has long been woven."

We only need to step on it lightly to taste the fruits of victory!

After saying this, His enormous, dazzling body slowly disappeared.

The beings, including Khorne and the Blood God, exchanged glances, unable to help but feel a mixture of anticipation and excitement.

They are one step closer to removing the threat of the cursed.

Afterward, these enormous phantoms turned and headed back to their own domain.

From this moment on, the bugle call of war has sounded!
Warp space, demon realm.

Black tar flowed across the land, and Purgatory Castle, nestled deep within the filth, overlooked the vile earth.

It is like a combination of evil and flesh; any creature that sees that fortress will inevitably feel fear and develop mental problems.

Before the gates of Purgatory Fortress stood countless spears, each pierced by a human corpse.

The dense jungle of human bodies spreads outwards, almost without end, enough to terrify any human being.

Those were the spoils of war of Dura, the master of Purgatory Fortress, the Chaos Lord, and the Sadistic Duke.

"Humble humans, what perfect material of flesh and blood, their painful groans will be the most beautiful notes of music."

The sadistic duke once said that he was very interested in how to torture humans and always enjoyed it.

Over the years, he has traveled to the galactic reality many times, burning, killing, and looting in the civilized world of mankind.

No one could stop them, not even the so-called emperors and angels in the eyes of humans.

Billions of humans were plunged into extreme catastrophe under the iron heel of the sadistic duke, and large numbers of humans were abducted to his infernal fortress and tortured in all sorts of ways.

He was able to witness the suffering of hundreds of thousands of people simultaneously, watching them being contorted into various grotesque positions under the instruments of torture inflicted by the perpetrators.

Once everything is over, those humans will be sent to the Human Jungle of Purgatory Fortress to be displayed as spoils of war.

In the human jungle, almost no humans are intact; they are impaled from the bottom to the head and stuck in the ground like skewers of meat.

"Your Majesty, please save us poor souls!"

"I beseech you, great Lord of the Five Hundred Worlds, to let me die immediately."

"It hurts so much, it hurts so much..."

Some humans are still alive, writhing and wailing, blood flowing from their mouths.

Some poor souls have already suffered agonizing intestinal perforation, their intestines being dragged out and strangled, yet they are not allowed to die.

They can't even release their pain by screaming.

The sadistic duke considered all of this an honor; no Chaos Lord could have devised so many cruel punishments for humans.

He believed that these wonderful works would win the favor of the Lord of Pleasure, so much so that one day he would be invited to the throne of Pleasure.

Moreover, this sadistic duke also enjoyed displaying his spoils of war to the administrators of the empire's borders—

The miserable state of those suffering humans.

He thoroughly enjoyed watching the angry yet helpless expressions of the imperial administrators.

Not long ago, the sadistic duke followed suit, projecting his horrific visions of tormenting humanity across the empire's borders.

This is used to issue a threat.

However, what the sadistic duke did not expect was that the local imperial consul was not afraid of this.

The consul took it very seriously, collected evidence of the abusive duke's crimes, and reported it to the relevant judicial authorities.

Then the Grey Knights' forces arrived at full speed.

Unlike the Grey Knights of the past, they did not engage in a protracted struggle with the powerful demon leaders under the Sorrowful Duke.

Instead, they used some unknown mechanical equipment to follow the remaining traces of chaos and arrived at the Purgatory Fortress.

That Grey Knight force actually entered the warp and attacked his lair, which he had built up over ten thousand years.

The sadistic duke had never imagined this situation; in all these years, no human force had ever been able to attack the Chaos Fortress.

He was somewhat surprised, but not too worried.

Thanks to the meticulous construction by the demon engineers, Purgatory Fortress had long been as solid as an iron barrel.

Even a large army would find it difficult to break through, let alone a small armed squad of a few dozen people.
This is the realm of chaos, not galactic reality; the tide of demons can utterly engulf them!

The sadistic duke, perched atop the domed hall of Purgatory Fortress, turned to gaze upon a peculiar jungle of human bodies.

Numerous colorful suits of armor were scattered, and even more towering human remains were desecrated, pierced, and twisted into ridiculous shapes.

Those were the sadistic duke's special spoils of war.

During the Great Rift, many Imperial Space Marines attempted to stop his plunder of the human world.

But those pitiful Space Marines, without exception, all fell under his instruments of torture.

This time is no different!

"Perhaps I will obtain a special batch of spoils to make up for my previous regrets..."

The sadistic duke licked the instruments of torture on his tentacles with his long tongue, gradually becoming excited. He was already imagining how to torture those special space marines.

The Grey Knight makes a living by hunting demons, which would surely inspire him to create even more cruel tortures!
However, things soon went beyond the sadistic duke's expectations.

His elite demon army has been wiped out, and the Grey Knights are attacking the fortress!
"Use faith as armor, dedication as a shield, and purity as a sword!"

"I am the warhammer, and I am its sharpest spear."

It is also the strongest shield!

On the scorched earth, the mournful screams of chaotic demons echoed endlessly.

A silver-white armed force advanced under the protection of a special force field.

Any demon is reduced to ashes by the swing of the hammer and spear.

"How can this be?"

The sadistic duke stood atop the city wall, looking down at the silver-white armored figures with a distorted, incredulous expression.

This Chaos Lord was naturally not afraid of the Grey Knights, or at least not entirely; he had even plotted an ambush against one of the Grey Knights' Grand Mentors.

He overwhelmed a Grey Knight squad with a surge of magic, nearly wiping them out.

While those demon hunters certainly possessed some skills, they were still insufficient to pose a threat to the powerful chaotic beings.

For the sadistic duke, as long as he didn't encounter that threatening figure among the Grey Knights—

Cardo Diego would not be in mortal danger.

The sadistic duke stroked the ugly scar on his body, still shaken.

That time, he almost got a batch of Grey Knights' bodies to use as torture material.

However, a Grey Knight who called himself Cardo Diego emerged from the warp like a demon, which was so bizarre.

Then, the tall gray knight wielded his greatsword and slaughtered all his demon guards.

The sadistic duke clashed with his opponent, but soon his tentacles were torn off, and his body was nearly cleaved in two by the greatsword, leaving him severely wounded. Fortunately, he seized an opportunity, sacrificing half of his body, and finally managed to escape back into the warp, saving his life.

That was one of the sadistic duke's few defeats. The last time was when he was torturing humans and was too noisy, so he was beaten up by the Blood God's chief demon, the supreme bloodthirsty maniac, Kabanha, who happened to be passing by.

I almost lost my life.

When the sadistic duke thought of Cardo Diego of the Grey Knights, the humiliating memories of his previous defeat flooded back, causing his heart to clench slightly.

Could it be that guy?

If it were Cardo Diego leading his troops to attack, then everything would make sense.

With that Grey Knight's strength, he could indeed quickly break through the lines of his Chaos Domain.

“Perhaps, I have a chance for revenge…” The sadistic duke revealed a cold smile.

He did lose to Cardo Diego before, but this is Purgatory Fortress, his home turf.

Even if that guy manages to break in, he'll be plunged into an endless hell of torture instruments.

Individual martial prowess is insufficient to breach strong city walls and fortresses; even the legendary Primarchs of the Empire require armies or weapons to support their attacks.

The sadistic duke stretched out his filthy tentacles, using the eyeballs on them to observe the Grey Knights.

However, he did not see any familiar faces in that unit.

Cardo Diego isn't here; the one leading the team now is just an over-armored Grey Knight Grand Instructor.

The sadistic duke's last remaining fear vanished, replaced by intense anger.

How dare a mere Grand Master of the Grey Knights, leading dozens of Grey Knights, enter the Warp and attack my Infernal Fortress?

How arrogant!
"Humans are not worthy to set foot in the territory of chaos, the darlings of pleasure, to tear them apart and trample them."

I will impale these Grey Knights at the gates of the fortress!

The sadistic duke roared on the city wall, twisted tentacles and blood flowing down his terrifying demonic body.

He had no interest in even getting to know the other side, and instead sent out even more elite demon troops.

Countless chaotic demons surged toward the Grey Knights.

Such a number, even if they just stood there and let the Grey Knights kill them, would exhaust them!
"Purify these evil spirits!"

Grand Master Kovin of the Seventh Brotherhood was covered in layers upon layers of holy runes, armed to the teeth.

He looked at the demons surging ahead and said this.

This time, Koven led the elite Grey Knights to the Warp, not only to eliminate the Chaos Lord who had attacked the Brotherhood and brought much suffering to humanity.

More importantly, it involves the large-scale warp-space weaponry that His Majesty the Savior bestowed upon the Seventh Brotherhood.

That's something really good, fresh out of the lab!

The force field emitted by this armed facility can greatly assist Imperial forces in their operations within the warp, preventing excessive chaos erosion.

More importantly, it can also send out location signals in subspace to contact relevant armed forces on the other side of the galaxy.

This will allow for coordinated operations!
"A pure vow is above."

"We, the Seventh Brotherhood, are the Grey Knights most valued by His Majesty the Savior!"

As Cowen thought this, he couldn't help but smile.

Since he fully pledged allegiance to the Savior, the Seventh Brotherhood has enjoyed a much better life, always receiving the best and most abundant demon-hunting equipment.

This allows them to slaughter demons to their heart's content.

The Seventh Brotherhood alone has far more demon hunters than all the other Brotherhoods combined.

Their record is simply outstanding, making other Brotherhoods extremely envious!

Of course, some senior mentors or elders of the Grey Knights had reservations, saying that the Seventh Brotherhood was getting too close to the Savior, which might violate the ancient commandments of the Grey Knights.

After all, the Grey Knights were an even more special army than the Imperial Guard, and they were almost never involved in any power struggles.

Their sole purpose is to hunt demons for the Emperor, and then, when necessary, to do whatever it takes to fulfill that legendary, supreme mission.

However, no one knows exactly what it entails yet; the Grey Knights have only been told that the mission will be launched at the appropriate time.

Although the criticisms from the Grey Knight Grand Mentors and Elders were somewhat sharp, Koven viewed them with a different perspective.

They were all just jealous.

His Majesty the Savior is the Emperor of the Empire, personally crowned by the Emperor, and is practically the spokesperson for that being.

If you obey the savior's command, you are obeying the emperor's command. What's wrong with that?
Boom boom boom——

As the chaotic demonic tide surged, the Grey Knights used heavy firepower for the first time in this battle.

Using the onboard launchers, they unleashed a barrage of hellfire grenades, a crimson-yellow curtain of fire covering the demonic horde ahead.

The demons struck by the crimson-yellow light emanating from the hellish weapon felt excruciating pain.

Afterwards, the abomination smoke that spread across the battlefield caused their bodies to char, fester, and rot.

It was a combination of cursed energy, divine plague technology, and many other complex methods, making it a veritable biological attack.

More importantly, Hellfire weapons are cheaper to produce than Holy Ash Bombs and can be mass-produced.

Moreover, it has a variety of weapon forms and attack methods to adapt to different battlefields.

Just ten seconds later, wave after wave of demons lost their fighting ability in agony, collapsing to the ground and howling in pain.

Only a small number of demons are still persisting, but their fighting strength has been greatly weakened.

They were utterly helpless against the Grey Knights' heavy hammers and spears.

It was reduced to ashes under a massive psionic attack.

The Chaos Demons were terrified and began to turn and flee.

Cowen threw a hell grenade, the shockwave blasting the fleeing demon to pieces.

He led the Grey Knights on their advance, until they reached the outer perimeter of Purgatory Fortress.

They finally stopped.

"Damn Chaos Abomination!"

As Cowen looked at the jungle of human spikes that had spread beneath the wall of flesh and blood, an uncontrollable rage welled up within him.

Then, he looked up at the enormous, two- or three-kilometer-high, sky-piercing infernal fortress.

“Demon, you will be judged!” Cowen said, as if proclaiming the other’s fate.

He noticed the gaze of the Chaos Lord.

"Pathetic Grey Knight, how could you possibly cross the Infernal Fortress to attack a Lord of Chaos?"

The sadistic duke's voice came through, filled with mockery and disdain.

These Grey Knights were indeed powerful and had incredible firepower, but they were positioned behind sturdy city walls and lacked the weapons to breach the walls.

More importantly, the shockwaves caused by the Grey Knights' attack had already spread throughout the warp.

Soon, more demons arrived, tearing apart the human invasion force!

However, under the sadistic duke's puzzled gaze, Cowen took out a mechanical box and placed it on the ground.
