Chapter 1483: Guardian of the Ruins

Chapter 1483: Guardian of the Ruins

The Imperial Key landed, and Yu Xuan and Yu Ma disembarked. After looking around, they realized that despite the long journey through another dimension, the current environment still seemed like Earth.

The distant mountains are verdant, the sky is clear and blue, and a few wisps of clouds drift lazily among them. Vines entwine the trees, and old roots twist and turn. The fragrance of orchids wafts through the air as the wind blows, creating a delightful scene that is a true primeval forest landscape.

Yuma was surprised: "Is this... still on Earth?"

The Astral Entity said, "According to the coordinates displayed by the Imperial Key, we have arrived at the location of the ruins."

“Really?” Yuma looked around and muttered, “It still looks just like Earth.”

After searching around for a moment, he added, "Also, You Xuan said he bumped into someone, but I don't see anyone else here."

He seemed to still have some doubts about You Xuan's statement, wondering if You Xuan might have misread it.

But it's understandable that he would think that way. According to You Xuan, their Imperial Key spaceship collided with a person during their interdimensional travel. If that's the case, wouldn't that person's physical body have shattered and they have traveled through dimensions?
That kind of guy would have to be Superman, right? Is there really anyone in the world who could do something like that?

At this point, Yuma clearly didn't know much about the Varia and was unaware of just how terrifying the Seven Varia Emperors' strength was.

It's no exaggeration to say that the fact that ZEXAL's story takes place in the world of Card Master is incredibly fortunate for humanity. If this weren't a world where card playing reigns supreme, the Seven Varian Emperors would absolutely have the power to tear Earth apart with their bare hands; ordinary weapons wouldn't even scratch them.

Fortunately, even the powerful Balians couldn't resist playing cards, which allowed the leader to save the world.

You Xuan and You Ma ventured deeper into the jungle. After walking for a short while, the view suddenly opened up before them.

Before them stood an ancient brick and stone palace, its roof covered in thick moss. Above the center of the entrance hall was a relief of a winged winged horse, likely connected to the owner of this barrier.

You Xuan followed You Ma. Upon entering the ruins, they found themselves in a maze-like environment, and after only a few steps, they triggered a trap.

There are venomous snakes falling from the sky, sharp javelins that look like they're going to nail people to the brick wall, and ceilings covered with sharp spikes falling down.

You Ma was startled and jumped around, but with You Xuan present, this primitive trap was practically negligible. You Xuan didn't even seem to blink the entire time, calmly advancing all the way.

From Yuma's perspective, it seemed as if all the traps avoided him. Once, Yuma clearly saw an axe with an iron chain flying towards Yugen, but Yugen didn't care at all, neither dodging nor avoiding it. Yuma couldn't help but shout "Watch out!", but before he finished speaking, the axe, less than half a meter away from Yugen, strangely changed direction in mid-air and pierced into the wall next to him.

Yuma was greatly surprised. Astral, however, had a guess: "It's probably the power of the spirits. He can probably easily influence reality through the power of the spirits, and his use of the power of monster spirits has reached an astonishing level."

"Is that so?" Yuma understood.

While this isn't common in the ZEXAL world, Yuma can accept this setting because his Hope can sometimes materialize and attack. However, he generally doesn't do this intentionally; it mostly happens when they encounter a crisis and Hope is forced to appear to fight other No.s.

After walking for a while, we soon arrived at the main hall at the deepest part of the ruins.

As if sensing someone's entry, a flash of white light appeared in the main hall, and the light converged in the very center to form a human figure.

The man was dressed in silver-white armor, like a noble knight. He wore a helmet, with a tuft of blond hair inside obscuring his left eye, revealing only half of his face, which looked somewhat strange.

“My name is Maha,” the knight said proudly. “I am the guardian of the ruins ‘NO.’.”

Yuma exclaimed in surprise, "There are still people in such ancient ruins?!"

He instinctively wondered how many years ago this must be?

You Xuan said, "Calm down, You Ma, this isn't a real living person."

If I had to describe it, it would probably be something like a "remnant soul," a guardian program similar to artificial intelligence left behind by extraordinary power.

The knight named Maha stretched out his arm, and light particles gathered on his silver knight's gauntlet, transforming into a duel disk.

"Whether your souls are worthy of NO., let me, Maha, personally test you."

You Ma asked solemnly, "Does this mean you want to duel?" At that moment, he turned his head and was startled to find that You Xuan was gone. Looking back, he saw that You Xuan had already turned and was walking away, almost at the door.

You Ma asked curiously, "You Xuan?"

You Xuan waved his hand: "The trial isn't difficult, I'll leave it to you. As long as you defeat him, you can get the No. 1 of the ruins. I'll be waiting for your good news."

"Oh, oh." Yuma was stunned, then couldn't help but ask, "And what about you, Yuugen?"

"I?"

You Xuan paused slightly, turned his head and smiled at him.

"Remember what I just said, that we hit someone before we landed?"

The wandering horse looked bewildered.

“That guy followed us.” You Xuan waved his hand. “I’ll go make sure no one disturbs you during your trial.”

After leaving the ruins, You Xuan returned to the labyrinthine structure outside and stood with his hands on his hips at a crossroads, as if he had foreseen the future.

About a minute later, the limping Balian man, Drube, appeared at the intersection. He paused for a moment when he saw You Xuan.

Druby: "Who are you...?"

"Tsk tsk, looks like you were seriously injured." You Xuan clicked his tongue. "That's why I said you have to look for cars when crossing the street."

Drube's face turned cold: "Was that your aircraft just now? Are you here for the No. 1 of the ruins too?"

"I suppose so," You Xuan said. "But you're probably too late. The No. 1s of the ruins should all have already recognized their owners by now."

"Since that's the case, then let's take it back by force!"

Druby opens the Duel Disk.

"Get out of the way!"

You Xuan laughed heartily: "What do you think I'm doing here?"

As he spoke, he unfolded the Duel Disk.

"Duel!" x2

"I don't know who you are, but since you want to die, I'll grant your wish!"

"Dreub said loudly."

"I'll go first! My turn, draw a card!"

Druby draws a card, and the card he draws leaves dark purple lines in the air.

"I summon 'Light Angel Staff' and assume defensive stance!"

Incandescent light gathered on the field, first forming a green steel body, then extending slender arms and legs in all directions. The steel angel, born with dazzling brilliance, is the "Light Angel" deck of Drube, as radiant as this straightforward Balian.
