The rise of a great power: starting with military industry
Chapter 1002 Balkan Storm
Chapter 1002 Balkan Storm
The Spring Festival has just ended.
Liu Tao began to become busy.
Europe and the United States must keep an eye on this.
Short the Euro, long the US Dollar!
This is about whether you can make a fortune, have a good new year, and be stress-free in the next few years. It all depends on this time.
We also need to keep an eye on Southeast Asia and Africa to avoid any earth-shattering events.
The atmosphere in the Balkan Peninsula is becoming increasingly tense and war is on the verge of breaking out.
On March 1999, 3, NATO Secretary General Javier Solana announced in Brussels that due to the failure of the "final diplomatic efforts", an air strike operation code-named "Allied Force" was launched against Yugoslavia in the name of "protecting human rights".
This is a violation of sovereign states and a blatant violation of international consensus.
However, Europeans and Americans declared that "human rights are more important than sovereignty" and resolutely chose to start a war.
NATO is waving the banner of humanitarianism and leading NATO to bypass the United Nations. It is so arrogant!
NATO not only had to carry out 24-hour uninterrupted bombing on military targets within Yugoslavia, but also had to target civilian facilities such as bridges, railways, roads, factories, television stations, communication systems, and power systems.
As for Europe's request to deploy NATO ground forces to end the war as quickly as possible, it was firmly rejected by the Americans.
Europe wanted to end the war quickly, but the Americans did not.
First, from a military perspective, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia inherited Yugoslavia, and its weapons and equipment were sophisticated and its army was well-trained. If NATO deployed ground forces to engage in a land war, it would inevitably suffer considerable losses. However, through air strikes, under indiscriminate bombing, forcing the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to surrender could greatly reduce the losses.
Secondly, the longer it drags on, the better. The longer the Balkan War lasts, the more European capital will flow to the United States. Maybe even European scientists will run to the United States again.
However, on the first day of the air strike, heavy losses were incurred, and the air defense capabilities of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia exceeded NATO's expectations.
Even though relevant intelligence had been obtained and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia had a large number of "Vanguard" individual air defense missiles and "Aegis" air defense missile systems, the losses on the first day still made the NATO Secretary-General shudder.
The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was not large; after all, it was just a union of two Yugoslav republics.
NATO dispatched 1153 aircraft in batches to carry out 24-hour air strikes on Yugoslavia.
NATO’s first batch of aircraft seemed invincible!
But when the plane entered the airspace of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, it began to be attacked.
Although the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia did not want to see this war, it had to face it.
NATO knew that the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia had the Vanguard individual air defense missile and the Aegis air defense missile system, and even knew the approximate number.
But NATO did not know the deployment of Yugoslavia’s air defense forces!
As early as last year, NATO had already started preparing for war. It had carried out a lot of preparatory work before the war and was only waiting for the order to launch a large-scale air strike against Yugoslavia.
Last year, NATO established a centralized and unified combat command system for the war against Yugoslavia. In order to smoothly carry out air strikes against Yugoslavia, NATO made a clear division of labor for air strike command responsibilities before the war and established a unified and complete Allied combat command system. The Supreme Allied Command Europe served as the combat command organization and unified the command of the entire air strike operation. Clark served as the highest commander. The US Navy carrier-based aircraft were commanded by the command ship "La Salle", and the B-2 stealth bombers were commanded by the command post in the United States. As early as 1998, NATO had drawn up three plans for fighting against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Europe pushed for the use of air power and ground forces, but all plans were rejected by the Americans. Finally, NATO chose the air strike plan. The whole plan included five stages: deploying air combat forces and weapons to the European theater; establishing air superiority over Kosovo; attacking military targets in Kosovo and Yugoslav troops south of 44 degrees north latitude that could reinforce the Serb forces stationed in Kosovo; expanding the scope of air strikes to attack various high-value military and security force targets throughout the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia; and redeploying troops as needed.
Before the war, NATO spent nearly a year gathering a large number of military forces. The U.S. Navy gathered in Europe and the Mediterranean last year, and the U.S. Air Force stationed in Europe also gathered at the Aviano Air Force Base in Italy. The naval and air forces of other NATO member states also began to make various preparations to participate in the military intervention in Yugoslavia.
Before the outbreak of the war, the United States had been sending additional troops to Europe from its homeland, including sending 4000 troops to Macedonia and transporting a large number of personnel and equipment to the Greek port of Seranik.
On the basis of long-term preparation, NATO replenished a large amount of weapons, equipment, ammunition and equipment to the combat bases through various means of transportation for more than a month before the war. In order to ensure the smooth progress of the war, the US military mobilized a large number of maintenance personnel and engineering and technical personnel to various combat bases before the war.
As early as last year, the United States and Europe placed large orders with Dongfang, including 3000 million cans of beef, 3000 million canned fruits, compressed biscuits, 1000 million boxes of instant noodles, toothpaste, toothbrushes, face towels, etc., with orders worth more than one billion US dollars.
NATO was busy, and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was also not idle, also preparing for war.
The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia established three air defense zones across the country, each of which was under the charge of an air defense command organization. The air defense command organizations shared intelligence, and the national air defense was unified under the charge of the Air Defense Force Command.
At the same time, before the war, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia used various reconnaissance methods and dispatched some fighter planes from two reconnaissance squadrons to conduct aerial reconnaissance.
Then they deployed their troops, showing a posture of fighting to the death.
In 1999, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia began conducting air defense drills, and sufficient supplies and water were prepared in air-raid shelters.
As early as 1997, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia began to expand its strategic material reserves. In response to the deteriorating strategic environment, even though the economy was in recession, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia used its precious foreign exchange and gold to purchase a large amount of weapons, equipment and materials, and established more than 20 large strategic material depots, storing a large amount of ammunition, equipment and other military supplies.
In addition, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia also mobilized a large number of reserve forces, conscripting people under the age of 65 for training, and the number of reserve personnel reached more than 40.
The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia has made all military preparations and built a military defense system, whether on the ground, in the air, or from the Mediterranean direction.
The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia warned Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and other countries that once the war broke out, its missile forces would attack them.
But things have come to this point, the arrow is on the string and has to be shot!
The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia inherited missiles, including short-range missiles and medium-range missiles. Although there were not many medium-range missiles, they could cover the entire United Kingdom at most.
As the negotiations broke down and Yugoslavia issued threats, the whole of Europe was in turmoil, with stock markets and foreign exchange markets falling.
The euro is falling against the dollar, and the pound is also falling against the dollar.
Only Switzerland and Sweden, as neutral countries, were spared, and the exchange rates of Swiss francs and Swedish krona against the euro and pound sterling are rising.
The whole of Europe was already in turmoil before the war because of the dark clouds hanging over the Balkan Peninsula.
Other NATO members in Europe hope that the war can end as quickly as possible so that the losses can be stopped in time.
This was also before the war, when other NATO members in Europe were still demanding the deployment of ground troops.
