Li Tianjie is the grandson of the patriotic overseas Chinese Li Qingquan. Li Qingquan bought forest land and machinery in the Philippines, established several timber companies, and established an ocean shipping company to create a complete industrial chain. At his peak, he controlled 80% of the Philippines' timber exports and was known as the Philippines' "timber king". That year, Li Qingquan was elected as the vice chairman of the "Nanyang Overseas Chinese Relief Association for Refugees in the Motherland". In October 1940, Li Qingquan made a will on his deathbed and donated his inheritance of 10 US dollars as anti-Japanese funds.

The Lee family is not among the top ten wealthy merchants in the Philippines, but it is also among the top 20. Now Li Tianjie enjoys the legacy of his grandfather 'Li Qingquan' and serves as the Prime Minister of the Philippines.
