Chapter 997 The Turn of the Century
January.

The bloody storm finally stopped in Thailand and Malaysia.

Both the Thai and Malaysian governments claimed to have inherited all powers of the two governments and were the only legitimate governments. At the same time, they urged Britain to hand over the government-in-exile and to bring relevant personnel of the government-in-exile to trial according to law.

Britain flatly rejected the demands of the two governments and announced that it would not recognize them.

The two sides were engaged in a war of words.

More than 400,000 troops entered India and the Philippines to help Lan Fang and Luzon.

The number of troops on both sides exceeded 100 million!
Not only do we have an advantage in the quality of our soldiers, we are no longer at a disadvantage in terms of the number of our troops.

The navies of India and the Philippines have been sunk long ago, and there is no naval combat in these waters.

But at this time, there is little news about India and the Philippines in the mainstream media in Europe and the United States, because the focus of Europe and the United States is now on the Balkan Peninsula.

The Balkan Peninsula is a transportation hub between Europe and Asia and a strategic location. It has always been known as the 'powder keg of Europe'. If there is any disturbance here, Europe cannot help but pay attention.

The whole world did not expect that the powerful Yugoslavia would be gone just ten years after Tito's death. Now even the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia seems to be in danger.

The Yugoslav army is stepping up its training.

A set of "Vanguard" individual air defense missiles and "Aegis" air defense missile systems allow soldiers to strengthen their training.

After receiving the news, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia prepared to expand its army from the current 12.5 to 25.

It was in December that NATO drew up a second version of its plan to attack Yugoslavia.

1998 was a turbulent year. As we turned the last page, we entered 1999!
1999, it’s the turn of the century!

This is the last year of the 20th century, and after this year we will enter the 21st century.

The entire Panshan Group had three days off for New Year's Day, with only a few people left on duty while most people took the New Year's Day holiday.

Plus, it happens to be followed by a two-day weekend, so this New Year's Day holiday lasts for five days, which can be called a short holiday.

Many people choose to travel at this time.

Liu Tao also chose to take a vacation. This time he did not return to the capital, but took his family to the southern foothills of the Himalayas.

The natural scenery here is beautiful, it has not been developed much, and not many people come here to travel.

Unlike Shangri-La, which has attracted many tourists since it was confirmed, it is always crowded during holidays.

Liu Tao doesn’t like traveling when there are too many people, because then he doesn’t see the scenery, but the people!

During holidays, scenic spots are always crowded with people. When traveling to scenic spots, you are not actually seeing the scenery, but seeing the people!

Therefore, Liu Tao chose to bring his family to the southern foothills of the Himalayas.

The altitude here is not very high, so you won’t have altitude sickness like you would in Tibet.

Liu Zhenbang, Chen Fang and others came to the southern foothills of the Himalayas for the first time. They were very happy to see the natural scenery here.

Liu Jingming took a camera and kept taking pictures. Liu Jingming, who went to study at the University of California, Los Angeles, also welcomed the holiday. After the holiday, he will prepare for the crazy March. He will also announce his participation in the draft this year and bring his talent to the NBA.

After going to the United States and receiving systematic basketball training, Liu Jingming made rapid progress in basketball. He has good basketball talent, good physical condition, and the soft touch of an Oriental person. Liu Jingming is now the main player of the school team.

Liu Jingming's height has now reached 204cm and he is still growing taller. He plays as a small forward.

Liu Zhenbang said: "There is great potential for tourism here in the future. The natural scenery is so beautiful!"

Liu Tao nodded in agreement, agreeing very much with what Liu Zhenbang said.

In fact, the tourism industry in southern Tibet has developed rapidly. In 1998, the total number of tourists received exceeded one million, and tourism revenue exceeded 3 million yuan.

The natural scenery here is beautiful, the air is particularly fresh, and there are many special fruits.

Currently, the mainstay of the economy here, besides agriculture and planting, is tourism!
The indigenous people here maintain a very simple lifestyle and are very pure in their religious beliefs.

This kind of atmosphere can always calm the restlessness in the hearts of city dwellers whose pace of life is getting faster and faster.

Since the opening of the railway, living conditions in southern Tibet have improved rapidly.

People from outside can come here to travel and exchange ideas, and people here will also go out to see the beautiful rivers and mountains of the motherland.

Every year, a group of normal school graduates are assigned here to serve as primary school and middle school teachers. There is also a college entrance examination here. Only if you take the college entrance examination and get a high enough score can you go to university.

You can communicate in Mandarin without any problem here, but of course many locals are still used to communicating in Tibetan.

Liu Tao and others came to a temple, which was a Zang Buddhist temple and was very distinctive.

Many people came here today. After Liu Tao found out, he found out that it was the Panchen Lama who came here to teach Buddhist scriptures.

The Panchen Lama's lecture was very solemn. All the Tibetan Buddhist monks were dressed formally, with clear ranks and the ceremony was very grand.

Tibetan Buddhism, also known as Tibetan Buddhism, or Tibetan Buddhism, is usually called Lamaism, and Tibetan Buddhist monks are also usually called Lamas. This is the branch of Buddhism introduced into XZ and belongs to Northern Buddhism. It is one of the three major geographical systems of Chinese Buddhism together with Han Buddhism and Southern Buddhism. It belongs to Mahayana Buddhism, but its main feature is the inheritance of Tantra.

Tibetan Buddhism does not have the Hinayana Buddhist tradition!
Tibetan Buddhism is mainly spread in Tibetan areas, Mongolia, Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim and neighboring countries.

Every year, there are always many believers who travel thousands of miles and go through many hardships to reach LS to listen to the Panchen Lama’s lectures. Many lamas in these places also regard the Panchen Lama as their spiritual leader.

Liu Tao and others were feeling this sacred moment of preaching from afar.

Until the lecture ended and it was time for lunch, Liu Tao and his friends did not go anywhere else to eat, but had a vegetarian meal in the temple.

They did not disturb the Panchen Lama. After finishing their vegetarian meal, they visited the temple. The temple was very unique and there was a monk who gave explanations specifically to Liu Tao and his group.

Speaking of Tibetan Buddhist temples, the most famous one is the Potala Palace, which originated from the palace built for Princess Wencheng when she entered Tibet.

The next is the Jokhang Temple, where the life-size statue of Sakyamuni at the age of 12 is enshrined. For nearly 600 years, many Buddhist believers have traveled thousands of miles to kowtow to the feet of this statue to express their respect for the Buddha. Every day, thousands of believers still pay homage to this statue, and the stone slab in front of the statue has been rubbed by the bodies of believers until it is as smooth as a mirror.

According to the monks, this temple was built more than 300 years ago and is a temple where many famous monks and great virtues emerged.
