Chapter 897 My Goddess Family Grows Stronger and Stronger
"Lord Eros, you've returned. Did you see what you wanted to see?"
On his way back, Eros encountered Daedalus again, who was carving stone, and greeted him warmly.
Although we don't know what's hidden deep within the labyrinth, it must be something very important, something that even the noble Cupid cares about.
Daedalus's words immediately reminded Eros of the muscular, ugly, and ferocious Minotaur, and his expression became somewhat unspeakable.
"W-What's wrong? Is there a problem?"
Seeing Eros's complicated expression, Daedalus thought he had said something wrong and became nervous again.
"It's nothing, it's just that the situation inside was a bit unexpected."
Eros pinched his brow. Luckily, Daedalus knew the rules and didn't explore the labyrinth's truth, thus avoiding an attack by the Minotaur.
More importantly, if it were discovered that such a ferocious monster was of Eros's bloodline, it would be a disgrace to the family.
He believes that in the Eros lineage, whether male or female, human or monster, Fury or machine, they must at least be beautiful.
This Minotaur doesn't feel like a film set.
This is a huge problem, even bigger than the problem of the Minotaur being a wicked bastard who ate children and was utterly vile.
Seeing Eros's somewhat complicated expression, Daedalus felt a little curious, but then shrank back.
In any case, she wouldn't bother to explore what secrets were hidden in the center of the maze; she was just a craftswoman, only doing her job.
"It's a smart decision for you not to go to the center of the maze. If anything unusual happens in the maze, just hide quietly and don't try to stop it."
She gave Daedalus a word of advice, warning him not to think he could stop the Minotaur if it broke out of the labyrinth, lest he waste his life.
After giving a reminder, Eros took Triton back to Crete. This time, instead of mingling with the crowds on a boat, they simply vanished on the wind.
Eros led Triton straight to the royal palace on Crete, thinking that Minos was probably not as angry as he had initially thought.
She's probably quite troubled by this, and likely doesn't have the energy to be angry.
With those ambiguous little incidents finally over, Triton was in high spirits and began to look forward to what was to come.
The two landed in a private area of Minos' palace that was not open to the public. It was noon, and Minos was probably handling state affairs in the main hall of the palace.
Pasiphaë was likely assisting from the sidelines, and naturally, she wouldn't tell anyone about Eros's arrival, since it was now the era of demigods and heroes, not the old days.
The gods no longer readily appeared in public, but instead began to maintain their majesty with a veil of mystery. Even the whereabouts of nymphs or elves began to become legends among the people.
“Father, I’m going to find Sister Minos and tell her you’ve arrived. You can rest here.”
After landing, Triton jumped down from Eros's arms and, unusually, ran off, lifting her skirt.
Eros didn't care, but sat down and thought about how to face Minos and Pasiphaë later.
There's always a difference between a biological child and a child created by hand; you can't be as casual with them as you were with Anubis in Ethiopia.
But upon closer reflection, it wasn't his fault at all. It was clearly Pasifaët who had premeditated the whole thing; he was just a victim.
Although Pasiphaë didn't know how she had convinced Minos to cooperate, she had only made some mistakes she shouldn't have. While there was embarrassment, the child's situation was clearly more important right now, so she had to put those awkward moments aside for the time being.
Just as Eros was pondering, a cute little face peeked out from around the corner of the courtyard wall, looking at Eros curiously.
The child's bright gaze could not possibly escape Eros's notice.
Eros turned his head to look, and saw that the little girl peeking out from the corner of the wall was very small, a level that Eros had never encountered before.
Even younger than Dionysus when he was born, he looked like he was just learning to speak and walk.
Her large eyes were bright and clear. Although her face showed a very youthful innocence and the foolishness unique to children, her eyes were also quite lively and insightful.
If I had to describe it, it would be that at first glance, you could tell this child is intelligent.
Eros knew who the child was. He had seen her in the heavens, nestled in the arms of Pasiphaë and Minos, being lulled to sleep. He knew this was his granddaughter, the child named Ariadne.
However, he had only glanced at it casually from the sky and hadn't paid much attention. Now that he saw it in person, Eros finally noticed some details.
"Hmm? Soul? What about the body?"
The little girl in front of them was actually just a somewhat transparent soul, not a real physical body.
Although it wasn't a big deal, Eros was still slightly surprised.
When Eros noticed him, the child did not run away in embarrassment or fear, but instead stood up confidently and looked at Eros in the eye.
Her eyes, clear and bright like a mountain spring, met Eros's gaze without flinching.
"Aren't you afraid of me?"
Eros watched his little granddaughter with great interest. Children her age are usually both wary and curious about unfamiliar people and things, and it's rare to see one so bold.
At this age, they probably can't understand the meaning behind adults' words; they can only grasp the general idea.
Ariadne nodded, clearly understanding Eros's words, and walked towards him.
"Can you speak now?"
Eros looked at his granddaughter who had walked up to him, and unable to contain his love, he picked her up and placed her on his lap.
Because it is a soul, it is completely light and weightless, since the soul has no weight.
Ariadne, who was being held by Eros, only opened her small mouth and made two indistinct calls, which were completely unintelligible.
But Eros could still make out the general meaning; he was probably saying something like, "I'm not afraid."
These little kids who can't even speak clearly are surprisingly adorable.
Because they can't speak well, they seem more like children, rather than precocious or seemingly young but actually mature.
This baby is really interesting, but why does it only have a soul?
Just as Eros was playing with the child, Triton seemed to have finally brought Minos and the other two back.
