Chapter 626 The True and False Monkey King
Chapter 626 The True and False Monkey King
That night, Old Man Yang and his family met in a dream.
Although I don’t know whether the man who turned into a bandit really woke up and repented or was afraid of the punishment in the underworld, anyway, he was barely a good person in the dream.
The next day, before dawn and in the hazy night fog, the four masters and apprentices had already set out on their journey westward.
By noon, the sun was scorching hot and it was difficult to walk.
Seeing the sound of a flowing mountain spring, the master and his disciple stopped to rest for a while.
Sun Wukong went to beg for food, and Zhu Bajie went to fetch water.
Tang Sanzang sat on the ground, leaned against a stone and wiped the sweat off his face. When he raised his eyes, he saw the scorching sunlight and felt his mouth and tongue were even drier.
Zhu Bajie did not return for a long time, so Tang Sanzang sent Sha Wujing to look for him.
As soon as Sha Wujing left, Sun Wukong followed him back.
In addition to begging for vegetarian meals, he also found wild fruits and had a large bowl of clear spring water.
Tang Sanzang took a big sip of water, and the heat immediately dissipated. He couldn't help but laugh and said, "Wukong, you came back so quickly."
Sun Wukong chuckled and offered the vegetarian meal: "Master, please eat something first."
Although Tang Sanzang was also hungry, he still declined: "No problem, I think Bajie and Wujing will be back soon, when they arrive, we can share the food together."
Sun Wukong thought about it and handed him another wild fruit, "Then why don't you eat a fruit first, Master."
This time Tang Sanzang did not refuse. He took the wild fruit and was about to eat it.
"Master! No!"
The sudden sound made Tang Sanzang stunned in place. He looked in the direction of the sound and saw another Wukong who had just flown down from the clouds not far away, with a purple gold bowl full of rice in his hand.
The latter Wukong stared at the first Wukong and shouted, "How dare you, you monster! How dare you disguise yourself as me and deceive your master!"
Wukong, who arrived first, also glared: "You are a very brave monster. When you saw me, not only did you not flee, you even dared to transform yourself into my appearance and come to my door!"
The two Wukongs had a conversation. Tang Sanzang, who was holding the wild fruit, looked at one and then that, and his eyes gradually widened.
Wukong, who arrived later, placed the purple gold bowl carefully on a stone, and then quickly pulled out the Ruyi Jingu Bang from his ear, "What a parrot-like monster, wait for me to beat you!"
Wukong, who arrived first, did not dare to show weakness and also pulled out the Ruyi Jingu Bang from his ear: "What a thief crying thief! Watch me fight!"
In an instant, the two Sun Wukongs were fighting in one place, sometimes flying into the air, sometimes falling to the ground. Their moves were as if they were carved from the same mold. They fought back and forth, neither giving in. In the end, neither of them could gain the upper hand, and neither could do anything to the other.
Tang Sanzang stared blankly for a while, and unconsciously frowned.
Although he was the master and had been with Wukong for many years, after careful examination, he could not tell who was real and who was fake.
Ten miles behind.
Hong Chen squatted by the water and processed the big fish he had just brought up. He cut open the fish's abdomen and took out the internal organs, scraped off the abdominal wall membrane and scales, cleaned it, put it on a straight branch, and roasted it over the fire.
While waiting, he picked up the gourd and drank while watching the two Monkey Kings appear one after another and start fighting after a few words.
It is impossible to tell the real Monkey King from the fake one just by appearance.
However, the internal organs of these two Sun Wukongs, even their auras and trajectories of martial arts, are exactly the same, which means that the fake Wukong has also learned the skills of the real Wukong, and even learned them to be on par with the real Wukong.
Sun Wukong’s master is Patriarch Bodhi, but I have never heard that Patriarch Bodhi also accepted a six-eared macaque.
Furthermore, the spiritual aura of the two Sun Wukongs is exactly the same, which is even more strange.
If Hong Chen could not directly observe two completely different true spirits, it would be difficult to tell which one was real and which one was fake.
But in the ancient times, the true spirit is the root of all spirits in heaven and earth. Except for the existing saints of heaven and earth, even the Heavenly Emperor who has reached the great perfection of quasi-sainthood cannot observe it directly.
The reason why Hong Chen was able to observe was because he had the highest rank in his karma.
However, there is no need to discuss the fact that Patriarch Bodhi was the reincarnation of the good corpse of Saint Cundi.
There are many explanations for arranging the original Six-Eared Macaque to be included, but now that the team is doing well, why do this?
Could it be that it was really just to make things happen and go through the motions?
"Can you tell the difference?" Hong Chen asked.
The horse next to him said, "If you listen to your heart, you can tell the difference. If you don't listen, I can't tell the truth from the false."
"Oh? Then tell me, what is that fake feeling?"
The fake Wukong should not have jumped out by himself. Even if the six-eared macaque really coveted the merits of the Journey to the West, he should not be so reckless and unwise as to want to directly replace Sun Wukong. By relying on his inner voice, perhaps we can know the hidden story behind it.
However, Di Ting, who had transformed into a slow-witted horse, shook his head and said, "His inner voice is very confused, but I can tell that it is not because his mind is confused, but because his inner voice has been deliberately interfered with by someone, so I can't hear it clearly and understand it. It is only because his inner voice is completely different from Sun Wukong's that I can distinguish the true from the false."
"Is this so..."
Hong Chen squinted his eyes and looked at the six-eared macaque who looked exactly like Sun Wukong. After his thoughts raced, he suddenly smiled.
In fact, as a bystander, because you are exposed to more and more massive information, you can analyze more things better and more clearly.
But if you are an insider, you may not be able to see more.
What's more, the realm of Liu'er Macaque is the same as that of Sun Wukong, both are Golden Immortals.
In this respect, he is not even as good as Sun Wukong of the Three Realms.
Sun Wukong, the Fighting Buddha who has completed the Journey to the West in the Three Realms and is now a perfect Taiyi Golden Immortal, has given up playing around and is concentrating on practicing in seclusion in the Taoist temple, intending to break through to the Daluo.
The immortal gold property allowed Liu'er to survive one era after another, but that was because the great calamity in the past did not find him.
But if someone wanted him to be robbed deliberately, he would not be able to avoid it.
Therefore, perhaps Liu'er Mihou did not know that he was doing something that would lead to his own death.
This is one of them.
Secondly, with the help of Hunyuan Dao Fruit, Hong Chen could also feel that there was an aura in Liu'er's body that was extremely similar to that of Sun Wukong. It seemed like the Tao but it was not the Tao. It was the same but yet separated.
Therefore, another possibility is that the Six-Eared Macaque is actually a gift prepared by Buddhism for Sun Wukong.
By killing the Six-Eared Macaque, Sun Wukong was able to gain a portion of the original power that he could directly absorb and integrate, thus owing a favor to the Buddhist sect and improving the relationship between the two sides.
By the way, Liu'er Macaque can also make a cameo appearance on the journey to the West.
Get more in one fell swoop.
These people are really good at calculating.
As for Tang Sanzang, he watched the two Sun Wukongs fighting each other for a while before he came back to his senses. He quickly stood up, frowning, and hesitated to speak. He didn't know which one was real and which one was fake. If he asked them to stop, it might delay the real disciple from exorcising the demons and give the disguised monster a chance to catch his breath.
But if we don't tell them to stop, there's no telling when this fighting will end.
Just when Tang Sanzang was struggling, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing also came back.
When they saw the two Sun Wukongs, they were also shocked, and Zhu Bajie kept shouting.
Tang Sanzang felt a headache after hearing this, so he had to stop him and said, "Tell me, what should I do now?"
Zhu Bajie stared at the two monkey brothers without saying anything. Sha Seng thought for a while and said, "Master, in my opinion, the real eldest brother will not be able to capture the monster that has transformed into his appearance for a while. Why don't you ask them to stop first, and we can work together to find a way to tell the real one from the fake one?"
Tang Sanzang thought for a moment, nodded and said: "Then let them stop."
Upon hearing this, Zhu Bajie shouted loudly towards the sky: "Big Brother, stop fighting, Master wants you to come down!" After shouting several times, the two Sun Wukongs finally stopped and fell to the ground. Their speed, posture and eyes were like looking in the mirror.
Surprised, Zhu Bajie immediately came over and looked around the two Sun Wukongs, looking very curious.
Soon, his two ears were grabbed by two monkeys at the same time, and he wailed in pain.
Sun Wukong on the left said, "Fool! We have been brothers for many years, you can't fail to recognize me, right?"
When Zhu Bajie heard this, he nodded immediately: "Yes, yes, you are the eldest brother!"
Sun Wukong on the right heard this and pulled the pig's ears: "Idiot! Take a good look and see who your senior brother is!"
Zhu Bajie turned his head, looked at the angry Sun Wukong, and said, "That's right, you are the eldest brother!"
Sun Wukong on the left became furious when he heard this, and Sun Wukong on the right was not to be outdone. The two monkeys started quarreling again through Zhu Bajie.
While they were making a fuss, Zhu Bajie quickly broke free from the two monkey paws, covered his ears and ran to Tang Sanzang.
"You damned monkey, you look no different than me, but you're taking your anger out on me, the old pig!"
Tang Sanzang stepped forward to mediate, "Stop quarreling for now."
The two Wukongs calmed down at the same time and saluted Tang Sanzang: "Master!"
Tang Sanzang said: "I have traveled with Wukong for many years, and I have talked to him about the essence of Buddhism and the true meaning of Zen. If it is the real Wukong, he will be able to answer. If he can't answer, he is definitely a fake."
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone immediately thought that this was a good idea.
However, as Tang Sanzang asked questions one by one, the two Wukongs always gave the same correct answer in unison, causing Tang Sanzang's brows, which had just been smoothed down, to frown even more.
There is no difference in appearance, voice, movements or expressions between the two Sun Wukongs, making it difficult to tell the difference.
Tang Sanzang rubbed his brows and continued to think of a solution, but the two Sun Wukongs could not bear it any longer and started fighting again.
Soon, one of them shouted, "Master, since you can't tell the real thing from the fake, you can rest here and wait. I, Sun, will take this monster all the way to the Bodhisattva on Mount Luojia in the South China Sea to determine the real thing."
Tang Sanzang responded loudly: "Disciple, be careful!"
"Master, don't worry!"
As they spoke, the two Sun Wukongs fought all the way and soon they disappeared.
Tang Sanzang bowed his head and sighed: "I just hope that Guanyin Bodhisattva has great magical powers to distinguish the real from the fake and catch the monster!"
Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing came forward and helped him sit down. Zhu Bajie took out the vegetarian food that the two Wukongs had brought back, checked it, and then shared it with his master and fellow disciples.
It is said that the two Sun Wukongs were fighting as they walked, and they quarreled all the way to the South China Sea.
In the Dragon Palace of the South China Sea, after hearing the report from the water tribe, Ao Qin hid under the water and saw two monkeys. He was so scared that he hurriedly ordered: "Quick! Send someone to keep an eye on the treasure house, and then send someone to inform the other Dragon Kings of this matter. Don't let the monkey come to our dragon clan to take advantage of us again! One monkey is fine, but two monkeys, this will cost the dragon's life!"
In front of Luojia Mountain, Guanyin Bodhisattva, who had heard the noise early, came out on a lotus platform.
The two monkeys grabbed each other and said, "Bodhisattva, this guy changed into my appearance to deceive my master, but my master's eyesight is too good to tell the real from the fake. I fought with him for a long time, but there was no winner. So I fought with this guy to the treasure mountain, and borrowed the wisdom of the Bodhisattva to help my disciples identify the real from the fake and distinguish the good from the evil."
Guanyin Bodhisattva: "Let go of your hands and stand aside. Let me watch again."
The two Wukongs let go at the same time. One said, "I am real." The other said, "He is fake!"
The Bodhisattva looked to the left and then to the right, then said, "Come forward and turn your backs."
The two Wukongs did as they were told.
Guanyin Bodhisattva stretched out her hands and touched behind their heads, and touched three life-saving hairs on each hand.
He sighed and said, "You two both have the three life-saving hairs I gave you back then. Even I can't tell which one is real and which one is fake."
When the other Sun Wukong heard this, he immediately spoke out to prove himself, which gave the Bodhisattva a headache. He could only wave his hand and use his magic power to make them quiet down.
After thinking for a while, the Bodhisattva said, "Wukong was once an official in heaven and he also caused havoc in the Heavenly Palace. The gods and generals in heaven and the Jade Emperor also recognize you. You might as well go to heaven and ask them to identify you."
The two great saints thanked him and flew to heaven while fighting again.
At the South Heaven Gate, the two Monkey Kings scared the Four Heavenly Kings guarding the gate. Then they heard that they wanted to distinguish the real one from the fake one, so they used their eyes to observe for a long time but found nothing, so they had to let them go to find the Jade Emperor.
After entering the hall, the two Sun Wukongs accused each other of being monsters. This scene was very interesting to the gods present, but also aroused their curiosity.
Sun Wukong's aptitude and understanding are extraordinary.
Now there are two Sun Wukongs, and not only are they equally matched, but even the gods like them cannot tell them apart. This is really strange.
The Jade Emperor waved his hand and released a precious mirror that was gleaming with golden light. It was none other than the top-grade innate spiritual treasure, the "Haotian Mirror". It was part of the Haotian set of three items bestowed by Taoist ancestor Hongjun, along with the Haotian Tower and the Haotian Sword.
But now, the Jade Emperor calls it the magic mirror.
"This mirror of mine has the power to see through the false and verify the true, and the power to destroy the false and keep the true." As he spoke, light shone from the mirror, covering the two Sun Wukongs.
All the immortals and gods looked up at the mirror, only to see that there were still two Sun Wukongs in the mirror, wearing the golden hoop and clothes, exactly the same.
The Jade Emperor frowned upon seeing this and said, "It's really strange that even the magic mirror can't tell the difference. Do the immortals have any solution?"
At this time, the Jade Emperor's good friend Taibai Jinxing stood up and said, "Your Majesty, the Great Sage once made trouble in the underworld. Why not ask him to go to the underworld and ask the Lord of Hell? Maybe he can get something."
Hearing this, without waiting for the Jade Emperor to speak, Sun Wukong immediately said, "Okay, okay, old man, you have a good idea. I will take the monster to the underworld to investigate!"
The other Sun Wukong also said: "You monster, when you reach the underworld, I, Sun Wukong, may be able to send you directly to reincarnation!"
The two monkeys quarreled non-stop. After flying out of the palace, they continued to fight all the way out of the South Gate of Heaven and headed towards the underworld.
