Chapter 44 Tell me, soldier, are you cold?
"call"
The moment Carrot El lowered his hands, as he slowly stepped forward, the pure white snowflakes instantly swirled into a wave of frost that swept across the surroundings, engulfing Captain America and his two companions in the blink of an eye.
"Wow!"
In an instant, a gust of wind, sharp as a knife, swept across their faces, carrying with it the glistening snowflakes.
This scene wasn't particularly dangerous, but it was incredibly humiliating.
Diana's expression changed, and Bruce Banna almost fell over, staggering as he regained his footing.
Only Steve, leading the way, stared intently at Carrot, his blue, slightly yellowish eyes unmoved by the pain of the icy winds.
"Steve Rogers."
Seeing this, Carrot El's gaze lingered on the blue-striped man at the head of the group, scrutinizing his appearance as if he were having a casual conversation:
"Captain America. According to school textbooks, he represents the highest standard of human morality that could be achieved in the last century."
"An immortal legend, a fighting hero who sacrificed his own interests for the greater good."
"Strong, brave, and resourceful, but perhaps my elementary school teacher is a fan of yours."
Carrot El gave a mocking sneer:
"But when I was taking this class, I argued with her."
“I said there are many people like him, countless people who are even shorter than him, thinner than him, and from worse backgrounds than him, to the point that even survival is a luxury, yet they continue to do good.”
Instead of dwelling on your memory, let's respond to this sentiment.
"But you know what?"
"As a result, she punished me by making me copy this text 30 times."
Steve Rogers' expression changed slightly. He genuinely didn't know how to answer the question and could only offer an explanation regarding the mission:
“I don’t mean to offend you, Carrot El, but you are a threat, and I believe you are aware of that. All we’re doing is trying to learn more about you.”
“I’ve heard about the Capsule Corporation. To be precise, the first name I heard after I woke up was you, Carrot Al.”
Captain America's words carried a sense of perspective that transcended time. Perhaps even he himself did not expect that the first battle he fought after waking up in this era would be against Carrot El.
Carrot El took a silent breath, looked directly into Steve's eyes, and said, word by word:
"That's quite a coincidence, Captain. Throughout my childhood, the name I heard most often was yours, Steve Rogers."
"But today, unfortunately, I have to tell you something: you are not qualified to stand in front of me today."
"Because you are just a soldier, you can't see whether your own battlefield is sinful or evil."
"Because you are not the commander."
"If we were on a farm in Kansas, or in front of the Capsule Corporation, I would probably treat you to the best barbecue or a freshly brewed coffee."
"We can have a good talk about how to use what you consider to be the moral standard of humanity to create an environment for the public to thrive and multiply."
"But now, the only thing I can think of in this situation is a question I asked my elementary school teacher many years ago in class."
“I said Captain America has been frozen under the glacier for so many years, maybe he’s already dead, after all, he’s been buried under the glacier for 70 years.”
"So, will he feel cold?"
Carrot El stared at Steve Rogers, paused for a minute, and spoke with a hint of disdain, each word clear and distinct, asking in confusion:
Tell me about the soldiers.
"Will you be cold during the 70 years you've been frozen?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Carrot El opened his mouth and gently blew out a breath: "Whoosh!"
In an instant, a terrifying, freezing cold swept over him, and Steve Rogers felt a sense of crisis erupting from the depths of his soul.
Just as he hurriedly raised his vibranium shield to block!
"Whoo~"
The surrounding air froze.
Almost instinctively, Steve sensed a life-or-death crisis, even though he had already used his vibranium shield to block out the cold.
However, the envelopment of the severe cold was not merely a one-sided collapse, but a freezing that swept in from all directions.
With a casual breath from Carrot Ai, Steve Rogers, who had just raised his shield to defend himself, was instantly frozen into a lifelike ice sculpture.
"Wow"
The terrifyingly cold temperature instantly froze everything around it into an inescapable icy wasteland.
Even Captain America was no exception; his shield, which had saved him countless times, was as fragile as paper in front of Carrot, becoming utterly vulnerable.
In the blink of an eye, Steve Rogers was frozen solid into a genuine popsicle by that simple breath.
Before the others could even react, they watched helplessly as their companion turned into an ice sculpture.
Instant kill.
A sudden, utter, and complete annihilation.
"team leader!"
Nick Fury exclaimed in shock. The Captain America he had painstakingly unearthed had been turned into an ice sculpture, its fate unknown, by Carrot Al's casual breath.
Carrot El simply exhaled lightly.
Even this last breath was the result of him showing mercy; otherwise, the entire army behind him would have been annihilated in the glacier with a single exhale.
"This person doesn't even deserve to die by my hand."
"Is there anything even more powerful?"
Carrot El stood amidst the glacial snow and wind, his expression indifferent, as if he were in an empty place, undisturbed by the army.
"Whoosh!"
Suddenly, in the instant the sunlight obscured his peripheral vision, Hawkeye seemed to seize the opportunity, and the arrow he released was aimed at Carrot's temple, hurtling out at lightning speed.
"Snapped!"
Carrot El didn't even glance at it, calmly extending his hand to catch the arrow flying towards him between his index and middle fingers. He glanced at the spinning explosive device on it but didn't budge.
“BOOM!!!!”
Suddenly, the arrow that had been trapped exploded, bursting into a dazzling burst of fire. The explosion, shooting into the sky, ignited the fiery white expanse of snow.
However, when the thick smoke cleared, the figure that emerged was Carrot El, completely unharmed.
He glanced at him coldly; in the instant the explosion swept through, not even a speck of dust touched Carrot's clothes.
"You're really being impolite."
Clint Barton.
