Chapter 546 The Source of the Monsters
"Done?"
James frowned, his gaze shifting between Qin Yang and Diana. "You just mentioned aliens, and that even stronger beings are coming."
"Now some zombie-like monsters are appearing, Qin Yang, tell me honestly, have you gotten yourself into some serious trouble?"
Diana stepped forward, her voice calm yet undeniably firm, "Mr. James, we are not troublemakers, we are trouble solvers."
Qin Yang is right, those monsters must be dealt with, otherwise Metropolis will become even more dangerous.
James sighed and rubbed his temples. "Okay, Diana, I believe you."
"You're a girl who inspires confidence."
He paused, then glanced sideways at Qin Yang, "Unlike someone else, who's always acting mysteriously, not even telling the truth to his own uncle."
Qin Yang helplessly spread his hands, "Uncle, I was just afraid you'd worry. Besides, aliens, superpowers, zombie monsters—who wouldn't need a few days to process all of this?"
"Digestion?"
James snorted, "I can handle it! Do you think I'm a country bumpkin? I've dealt with the ghosts of your Qin family's old mansion before! Tell me, what exactly are those monsters? Are they related to that missing Kryptonian corpse?"
Qin Yang and Diana exchanged a glance, a hint of seriousness flashing in their eyes.
Qin Yang took a deep breath and said in a low voice, "It's possible."
The theft of that body was definitely not the work of ordinary robbers.
To be able to take down an entire squad of police officers without leaving a trace, there must be something big going on behind the scenes.
Uncle, do you remember the specifics of the body snatching? For example, were there any clues at the scene?
James frowned as he recalled, "The police didn't say much, only that the convoy was attacked on the highway and the scene was a mess, like it had been bombed."
The car overturned, all the police officers died, and their bodies and some equipment disappeared.
They suspected terrorists, but I felt...it wasn't that simple.
"terrorist?"
Qin Yang sneered, "What kind of terrorist is so precise that they can even steal the bodies completely?"
Diana, what do you think?
Diana's eyes were cold and stern as she lightly tapped the hilt of her sword. "If it really was aliens, they must have had a purpose in stealing the body."
They could be Zod's subordinates, or they could be from another faction.
"Qin Yang, we need to get to Metropolis as soon as possible, find those monsters, and find out who's behind them."
"agree."
Qin Yang nodded and patted his backpack. "The kryptonite weapons are ready. Whether it's zombies or aliens, they won't be able to escape once they come."
Uncle, stay home and don't go out. Things haven't been peaceful lately.
James glared at him. "Do you think I'm old? Don't worry, I'm still the town's sheriff, I can protect myself to some extent."
"You guys better watch out, don't make me get another call from the hospital!"
"Don't worry, Uncle, I'm very tough."
Qin Yang waved with a smile, then turned to Diana, "Princess, are you ready? The monsters of Metropolis won't wait for us to have a cup of coffee."
Diana smiled slightly, a fighting spirit igniting in her eyes, "Anytime."
What's your fastest mode of transportation? Is it still the same as yesterday?
"of course."
Qin Yang reached out his hand and winked at her, "Hold on tight, we'll be in the Metropolis in the next second."
James looked at the two of them and couldn't help but interject, "Wait, Qin Yang, what kind of 'fastest mode of transportation' do you have? You didn't actually grow wings, did you?"
"Haha, Uncle, you don't have wings, but you have superpowers."
Qin Yang grasped Diana's hand, his tone light and cheerful, "Don't blink, see you in the next second!"
Before he could finish speaking, the air twisted and the wind howled past. James only saw a blur before his eyes, and Qin Yang and Diana's figures had already disappeared into the night.
He stood there, stunned, muttering to himself, "This brat... he's getting more and more outrageous."
Chaos reigned on the streets of the metropolis.
Broken glass, overturned vehicles, burning trash cans, and the air filled with the smell of burnt rubber and a faint stench of blood.
Qin Yang and Diana appeared in the shadows of an alley, and the screams and sirens around them instantly pulled them into a tense atmosphere.
Qin Yang released Diana's hand, quickly scanned his surroundings, and frowned.
"It's worse than it looks on TV."
Diana whispered, her gaze fixed on a police car torn in two on the street corner. Police equipment and bloodstains were scattered on the ground beside the car. "Those monsters... they're not ordinary creatures."
"It's not an ordinary creature."
Qin Yang squatted down and picked up a piece of police car debris. It had obvious scratch marks on it, as if it had been torn apart by some enormous force. "These marks look like claws, but they are larger than any animal's."
"Diana, can you smell something?"
Diana took a deep breath and frowned. "The smell of decay is like... a corpse."
But it was also slightly different; it had a metallic, fishy smell.
"Metal?"
Qin Yang stood up and looked into the distance. At the end of the street, he could vaguely see several swaying figures. They were huge and their movements were stiff but swift. "Those things are not ordinary zombies."
Let's go take a look.
The two moved quickly, following the shadows of the street to avoid the chaotic crowd.
The streetlights on the corner flickered, illuminating a scene of utter chaos—a chubby police officer slumped on the ground, pale-faced, clutching a pistol tightly in his hand, with a half-eaten chicken leg lying on the ground.
Opposite the police officer, two zombie-like monsters were slowly approaching. Their skin resembled rotting tree bark, emitting a green glow, and their eyes had no pupils, only empty white light.
"Help... help!"
The fat police officer's voice trembled as he pointed his gun at the monster, but fear prevented him from even pulling the trigger.
"Diana, the one on the left is yours!"
Qin Yang let out a low shout, and in a flash, he rushed towards the monster on the right.
He pulled a kryptonite arrow from his backpack, held it in his hand like a short spear, and moved with lightning speed.
"understand!"
Diana drew her short sword, her battle skirt fluttering in the wind, and charged towards the monster on her left.
Her sword flashed like a rainbow, piercing the monster's chest with pinpoint accuracy. The blade sliced through the rotting skin, producing a piercing scraping sound.
"Hey, you ugly thing, come play with me!"
Qin Yang shouted to attract the attention of the monster on the right.
The kryptonite arrow in his hand emitted an eerie green light. The monster seemed to sense the danger, letting out a low roar as it lunged at him.
Qin Yang dodged the monster's claws with a sidestep and thrust the kryptonite arrow into the monster's shoulder.
The green light spread instantly, and the monster let out a painful roar, its movements becoming sluggish.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Qin Yang kicked the monster in the chest, sending it flying several meters before it crashed into an overturned car.
"Qin Yang, these things aren't afraid of pain!"
Diana shouted as her dagger pierced the monster's chest on the left, but the monster continued to swing its claws, trying to fight back.
"Use Kryptonite!"
Qin Yang pulled another Kryptonite arrow from his backpack and tossed it to Diana, "Try this one!"
Diana caught the arrow, a cold glint in her eyes.
She turned around and plunged the arrow deep into the monster's head. A burst of green light erupted, and the monster let out a sharp howl. Its body rapidly withered, eventually turning into a pool of blackish-green liquid that emitted a pungent stench.
"nausea."
Diana frowned, took a step back, and shook the liquid off her sword. "Qin Yang, your right!"
Qin Yang turned around and saw that the monster on his right had already gotten up, its eyes shining even brighter, as if it had been enraged.
It opened its mouth and spewed out a green mist. Qin Yang quickly dodged, and the mist landed on the ground, making a sizzling, corrosive sound.
"Poisonous!" Qin Yang cursed under his breath, quickly pulling out a kryptonite dagger from his backpack. "Diana, cover me!"
Diana nodded, leaped forward to block Qin Yang, and swung her sword at the monster, forcing it to retreat.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Qin Yang circled around to the monster's back and precisely stabbed his dagger into the back of its neck.
The green light burst forth again, and the monster struggled for a few seconds before finally collapsing and turning into a puddle of liquid.
The chubby police officer stood frozen in place, his mouth agape, wide enough to fit an egg. "Who...who are you? Superman? Batman?"
Qin Yang wiped the liquid off the dagger, smiled, and walked over. "Superman? Batman? Dude, we're the original designs, not that famous."
Call me Qin Yang, and this is Diana.
Are you OK? "
"I...I'm fine."
The chubby police officer swallowed hard, picked up the chicken leg from the ground, then put it down again. "What...what are these monsters? Zombies?"
"More complicated than zombies."
Qin Yang crouched down to examine the liquid on the ground, frowning as he asked, "Diana, do you think this thing looks like a product of Kryptonian technology?"
Diana crouched down beside him, observing carefully. "It's possible."
Their bodies have a metallic texture, yet they move like living organisms.
This mixture...reminds me of Krypton's biochemical experiments.
"Biochemical experiment?"
The chubby police officer looked completely bewildered. "What are you talking about? Aliens?"
Qin Yang patted him on the shoulder, "Dude, to put it simply, this thing isn't from Earth."
Don't ask too many questions. Go back and find a safe place to hide. Leave this to us.
The officer nodded, stumbled towards the street corner, muttering, "Aliens... Oh my god, I have to call the chief..."
Qin Yang stood up, his gaze sweeping across the distant street, where more monstrous figures loomed in the night. "Diana, this is just the beginning."
The guy who stole the Kryptonian corpse probably used it to create these monsters.
We need to find the source.
"How to find it?"
Diana sheathed her dagger, her tone calm, "Metropolis is so big, monsters could be everywhere."
Qin Yang stroked his chin, a sly glint in his eyes. "The system has indicated that Zod's target is a secret facility in Metropolis."
These monsters probably came from there.
We need to find that facility and destroy it.
"Secret facility..."
Diana frowned. "You're talking about the system again."
"Qin Yang, when will you tell me all these secrets?"
"Once we take down the Zod and save the Earth, I'll buy you coffee and we can chat."
Qin Yang smiled and patted his backpack. "Now, follow me, we're going to the city center."
The place with the most monsters is bound to have clues.
The two acted quickly, heading towards the city center along the street.
The streets grew increasingly chaotic, filled with screams and explosions, and thick smoke filled the air.
Qin Yang's steps were steady, but his eyes gleamed with excitement, as if he was looking forward to the upcoming battle.
Diana followed closely beside him, her short sword ready to strike at any moment.
"Qin Yang, do you think these monsters are related to Zod?"
Diana asked in a low voice, her gaze sweeping over the destroyed shop window beside her.
"Nine times out of ten."
Qin Yang replied in a low voice, "Zord needs things from Earth to revive Krypton."
These monsters might be his test subjects for weapons, or... tools for clearing obstacles.
"Clear obstacles?"
Diana sneered, "He sees humans as an obstacle?"
"For Zod, Earth is just a resource depot."
Qin Yang stopped and fixed his gaze on a tall building in the distance, with a faint green light flickering on its roof. "Look there, Diana."
That building was like a signal.
Diana followed his gaze and frowned, saying, "That's Stark Industries' branch office building."
Could the monster have come from there?
Stark Technologies?
Qin Yang raised an eyebrow. "Interesting."
Let's go take a look.
The two quickened their pace, navigating through the chaotic streets and avoiding the fleeing crowds.
The Stark Tower stands tall in the city center, its glass curtain wall reflecting a cold light in the night, while the green glow on its roof becomes increasingly prominent, as if beckoning something.
Qin Yang and Diana sneaked into the alley next to the building to observe the situation at the entrance.
"There are guards."
Diana whispered, pointing to several figures at the building entrance.
The guards didn't look human; their movements were stiff, and their eyes flashed with white light, just like the monsters from before.
"They're not guards, they're puppets."
Qin Yang narrowed his eyes, his hand already gripping the kryptonite dagger. "Diana, prepare for battle."
We have to go in and find the source of the monster.
"Just charge in?"
Diana gripped her short sword tightly, a fighting spirit igniting in her eyes.
"of course."
Qin Yang grinned, "Princess, give me cover, I'll clear the way!"
Before he finished speaking, Qin Yang flashed and rushed towards the building entrance.
Diana followed closely behind, her sword flashing like a rainbow, instantly felling two puppets.
Qin Yang wielded his kryptonite dagger with impenetrable precision, each strike hitting the puppet's vital points with pinpoint accuracy, the green light exploding in the night.
"Qin Yang, inside!"
Diana shouted and kicked open the glass door of the building.
Behind the door was a dimly lit hall, filled with a strong metallic smell, and the floor was littered with broken equipment and bloodstains.
"It seems we've come to the right place."
Qin Yang said in a low voice, his gaze sweeping over a huge device in the center of the hall, which was flashing with green light, like some kind of energy core. "Diana, what is that?"
Diana approached the device, frowning, and said, "It looks like some kind of bioreactor."
"Qin Yang, this thing might be the source of the monsters."
"Reactor?"
Qin Yang stroked his chin. "That's simple then. Destroy it, and the monster will be gone."
"It's not that easy."
A deep voice echoed from the depths of the hall, carrying a cold, metallic quality: "Do you really think that two mere humans can stop Krypton's resurgence?"
Qin Yang and Diana whirled around, their gazes locking onto a figure slowly emerging from the darkness. (End of Chapter)
