Chapter 554: Fought a battle with the Destroyer!

"Qin Yang!"

Clark turned his head, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. "What did you take?"

"Kryptonite rocket launcher!"

Qin Yang grinned and quickly aimed at Joel's chest. "Lex's relics, specially prepared for you Kryptonians!"

"Watch out, Qin Yang!"

Diana shouted, leaping to Joel's side and thrusting the Sword of Vulcan at its leg, trying to draw its attention. "It reacts quickly!"

"rest assured!"

Qin Yang pulled the trigger, and the rocket launcher made a loud bang, with two kryptonite rockets trailing green flames as they shot straight at Joel.

The rocket head exploded in Joel's chest, green dust billowing out. Joel let out a painful roar, his body stiffening abruptly, and the growth rate of his bone spurs noticeably slowed down.

"efficient!"

Clark shouted, leaping toward Joel, grabbing one of its arms with both hands, and twisting it sharply, the sound of bone spurs snapping ringing out.

"Diana, the lasso!"

Qin Yang shouted, threw down the rocket launcher, drew his kryptonite longsword, and charged toward Joel.

"understand!"

Diana swung the Lasso of Truth, and the golden rope wrapped around Joel's other arm like a serpent.

She pulled hard, causing Joel's body to stagger, his roar tinged with pain.

"Qin Yang, now!"

Clark yelled and locked Joel's arms with both hands to stop him from struggling.

"coming!"

Qin Yang leaped up, his kryptonite longsword enveloped in green light, and thrust it straight at Joel's chest.

The blade pierced through flesh and blood, penetrating its heart, and black liquid gushed out.

Joel let out a deafening roar, his body jolting violently, but he still tried to struggle.

"It's not over yet!"

Qin Yang gritted his teeth, drew his longsword, leaped onto Joel's head, and slashed down hard at the back of its neck.

The sword flashed through the air, and Joel's head fell to the ground with a thud, black liquid gushing out like a fountain.

Its body slowly fell down, causing the ground to tremble.

"died?"

Diana, panting heavily, put away the Lasso of Truth and fixed her gaze on Joel's corpse.

"Should be dead."

Qin Yang landed and wiped the black liquid off the sword. "My heart and head are ruined. If I come back to life, I'll eat this sword."

"Don't be careless."

Clark frowned and landed beside Joel. "Its cells may still be dividing."

"Clark is right."

Diana nodded, still holding the Sword of Vulcan in her hand. "We must destroy it completely to prevent Lex's experiments from being used by others."

"Burn it."

Qin Yang suggested, glancing at Clark, "How's your thermal vision? Can you burn it to ashes?"

"no problem."

Clark nodded, his eyes gleaming with a fiery red light. "Qin Yang, you come and help too."

"Happy to oblige."

Qin Yang grinned, and the energy core of his armor switched to thermal mode, firing two blazing energy beams from his hands.

Clark's thermal vision simultaneously pierced Joel's corpse, the red and white light intertwining and instantly igniting the body.

The flames spread rapidly, and Joel's body quickly carbonized under the intense heat, his bone spurs turning to ash.

"Well done."

Diana breathed a sigh of relief and sheathed the Sword of Vulcan. "This thing is finally over."

"hope so."

Qin Yang frowned, his gaze sweeping over the surrounding ruins. "But Lex's experiments won't be limited to just this one."

Clark, you need to look into Zod's matter.

"Zod?"

Clark frowned. "Are you sure Joel is his subordinate?"

"uncertain."

Qin Yang shrugged, "But it claims to be Zod's subordinate, and Lex's experiments are related to Krypton."

You'd better be careful.

"I will."

Clark nodded, his gaze grave. "If Zod were on Earth, I wouldn't let him threaten humanity."

"Qin Yang, you killed Lex?"

Diana suddenly asked, her tone tinged with complexity.

"Correct."

Qin Yang said calmly, "He tried to attack me with a kryptonite sword, and I returned the favor with a sword."

Fair trade.

"fair?"

Diana frowned. "He's a sinner, but...don't you think this is too extreme?"

"Diana, I am not a hero."

Qin Yang gave a wry smile. "I'm used to the dirty work in this line of work."

Lex's darkness consumed him; I'm just making him pay for his choices.

"Qin Yang..."

Diana wanted to say something more, but Clark interrupted her.

“Diana, he did what he thought was right.”

Clark's voice was low and somber. "We can't always choose the perfect path, but we have to face the consequences."

"as a result of?"

Qin Yang raised an eyebrow, his tone slightly mocking, "My consequence was that I didn't receive the final payment."

Lex died way too quickly.

"Don't be ridiculous."

Diana glared at him. "How's your injury?"

"fine."

Qin Yang waved his hand; the armor's repair system was already activated. "Sunlight can sustain me, but..."

Clark, why don't you go home and let them know you're safe? Your adoptive parents must be worried sick.

"Foster parents?"

Clark was taken aback for a moment, then gave a warm smile. "You're right."

I need to go back to town.

"Let's go then."

Qin Yang grinned. "Diana, you're coming too? The apple pie in town is absolutely amazing."

"Apple pie?"

Diana raised an eyebrow, a hint of curiosity flashing in her eyes. "The Amazon doesn't have such a thing."

"Then you have to try it."

Qin Yang smiled, turned and walked to the end of the street, "Clark, lead the way!"

"no problem."

Clark smiled slightly, flew into the air, his red cape fluttering in the wind, and said, "Follow me!" "Wait!"

Diana called out, leaping to Qin Yang's side, "Qin Yang, are you sure Lex's experiment is over?"

"uncertain."

Qin Yang's tone was heavy, "But I have a feeling that this is just the beginning."

Zod, Krypton, the Destroyer... there's still a lot of trouble ahead.

"If there are still problems, we'll face them together."

Clark's voice came from above, firm and powerful: "The Justice League will not back down."

"Justice League?"

Qin Yang grinned. "That sounds pretty cool."

Count me in?

"You already are."

Diana patted him on the shoulder. "Qin Yang, you're more of a hero than you think."

"Thank you, Princess."

Qin Yang snorted, activated the armor's thrusters, and followed Clark's figure. "But I still prefer being an Avenger."

A gentle night breeze rippled across the cornfields of Kent Farm, filling the air with the fresh scent of earth and grass.

Moonlight spilled onto the old wooden cabin on the farm, and the warm, soft light inside illuminated three figures—Qin Yang, Diana, and Clark.

They had just returned from the battlefield in the metropolis, and the air still smelled of gunpowder, but at this moment, the farm seemed like a secluded paradise.

In the distance, the embers of the mercenary battlefield had not yet been completely extinguished.

Tate knelt beside a scene of devastation, surrounded by scattered weapon fragments and the groans of wounded mercenaries.

His face was covered in dust and blood, but his eyes were unusually calm.

Pete, a black mercenary, staggered over, a makeshift bandage wrapped around his forehead, and asked in a hoarse voice, "Tate... Boss, is he really dead?"

Tate looked up, his gaze sweeping over the cold corpse of Lex Luthor not far away, and nodded: "Dead."

The Destroyer's attack... gave him no chance.

He paused, patted Pete on the shoulder, and said in a low but reassuring tone, "Don't worry, Pete."

Lex Group won't renege on its debts; we'll pay our commissions as promised, and maybe even double them.

Pete frowned, a complex look flashing in his eyes: "Double? Tate, do you really think we can keep this money with peace of mind? The boss is dead, we..."

"Safe?"

Tate sneered, stood up, and brushed the dust off his hands. "Pete, how long have you been in this business? We're paid to do things, who cares if the boss is alive or dead? Lex Group has powerful backers, someone will take over."

What we need to do now is collect his body and then leave this awful place.

Pete paused for a moment, then nodded, his voice low: "Okay... so what's next? The Avengers, and Superman, they won't let us off the hook."

Tate narrowed his eyes, gazing at the distant night sky, as if he could still see Qin Yang and Clark's vanished figures: "The Avenger... Hmph, he's not someone we can handle."

As for Superman, he's too busy being a hero to care about us nobody.

"Let's go, Pete. Dispose of the boss's body first. The rest, let the corporation deal with."

The two said no more and silently began to clean up the mess. The whispers of the mercenaries and the groans of the wounded gradually faded away in the night breeze.

Meanwhile, Qin Yang, Diana, and Clark had just landed in front of the cabin at Kent Farm.

Clark's blue cloak swayed slightly in the night breeze as he looked up at the familiar farmhouse, a hint of tenderness in his eyes.

The cabin door creaked open, and Martha Kent stepped out, her apron still dusted with flour, a warm smile on her face, but her eyes reddened slightly when she saw Clark.

"Clark, my child!"

Martha rushed forward and hugged Clark tightly, her voice choked with emotion, "You're finally back. I was so worried about you."

Clark gently patted his adoptive mother's back, his voice tender: "Mom, I'm fine."

Look, I even brought some friends back.

He stepped aside, revealing Qin Yang and Diana behind him.

Martha's gaze swept over the two of them, and when it landed on Diana, a look of amazement flashed in her eyes: "And this is...?"

"Diana, from Paradise Island."

Diana smiled slightly and extended her hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Kent."

Martha quickly took her hand, beaming from ear to ear: "Oh my goodness, Diana, you are such a beauty! Come in, it's cold outside."

She then looked at Qin Yang, sized him up, and nodded. "You must be Qin Yang. Clark mentioned you. Thank you for helping him."

Qin Yang scratched his head, somewhat embarrassed: "Mrs. Martha, you're too kind."

Clark and I help each other out.

"Don't just stand there, come in!"

Martha warmly invited the three of them into the house, where the fireplace was burning brightly and the air was filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread.

Clark's gaze, however, fell on a corner of the living room, where an old rocking chair sat empty.

"Mom, where's dad?"

Clark's voice carried a hint of worry, "Is he alright?"

Martha's smile froze slightly, and her tone lowered: "Your dad... he was a little frightened when the aliens invaded last time, and his health hasn't been very good since."

He's resting upstairs now. Go check on him.

Clark nodded, a hint of guilt flashing in his eyes: "Okay, I'll go right away."

He turned and walked towards the stairs, his steps slightly heavy.

Qin Yang and Diana exchanged a glance and tacitly decided not to follow.

Martha clapped her hands and said with a smile, "You two, don't stand there, sit down! I just baked an apple pie and some corn soup, it's perfect time for dinner."

"Mrs. Martha, your enthusiasm is a bit overwhelming."

Qin Yang sat down with a smile, smelling the aroma of the food on the table, his appetite whetted. "I can tell it tastes good just by the smell."

Diana sat down, gracefully picked up a piece of apple pie, took a bite, and a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes: "Mrs. Martha, this tastes... just like the fruit pie from my hometown, warm and comforting."

Martha blushed slightly at the compliment and waved her hand, saying, "You young people really know how to talk."

By the way, Diana, do you have any sisters? A girl as wonderful as you, if you have a sister, how about introducing her to my Clark?

Diana paused for a moment, then chuckled softly, "Mrs. Martha, you're joking."

I do have quite a few sisters, but they all live on Paradise Island, so I'm afraid I can't introduce them to Clark.

Qin Yang suppressed a laugh, taking a big bite of apple pie to hide his expression.

Martha persisted, half-jokingly saying, "That won't do. Clark is getting on in years; he needs to find a good girl."

Look at you, Diana, so beautiful and elegant. If Clark could find someone like you…

"mom!"

Clark's voice came from the top of the stairs, interrupting Martha.

He had just come downstairs, looking a little tired, but with a hint of a smile in his eyes. "Don't make things difficult for Diana. She and Qin Yang are friends, not here for a blind date."

Martha glared at him, feigning anger: "You child, I'm only thinking of you. Alright, sit down and eat, don't keep the guests waiting."

The atmosphere at dinner was warm and relaxed. Martha kept serving food to the three of them and chattering about recent events on the farm.

Qin Yang and Diana occasionally chimed in with a few words, while Clark listened quietly, his gaze frequently falling on his adoptive mother with a complex emotion in his eyes.

After the meal, the three of them went out of the cabin and sat on a grassy area next to the farm.

The night sky was dotted with stars, and the cornfields in the distance swayed in the wind, making a rustling sound.

Clark leaned against an old oak tree, his hands behind his head, gazing at the starry sky, and said in a low voice, "Sometimes, I feel like I'm dreaming."

Krypton, the Codex of Life, my people… it all feels so unreal.

Qin Yang sat cross-legged on the grass, holding a blade of grass in his hand, turning it around casually: "Unreal? Clark, you saw Zod's men with your own eyes, and you even fought the Destroyer."

Isn't this realistic enough?

Clark gave a wry smile and shook his head: "That's not what I meant."

I mean… I always thought I was just an ordinary farm boy, but then I suddenly discovered I'm an alien, with a destroyed planet and a race that wants to wreak havoc on Earth. (End of Chapter)
