Bronze door through time and space

Chapter 828 The Land of Death

Chapter 828 The Land of Death
Because it was too embarrassing, Pride fell into a deep sleep shortly after escaping, which allowed Captain America to return safely. However, this did not resolve his many questions, so he accepted Natasha's invitation for a private conversation between the three of them.

"This all started with the Gate of Truth." Natasha was actually under a lot of pressure because Nick Fury had shown the Avengers list to Coulson. Given their current relationship, she naturally knew about it, which is why she was worried. "Are you sure this is a list of superheroes from the righteous side, and not a list of an evil organization plotting to destroy the world?"

Unable to change the situation, Natasha places her hopes on the two of them.

A legendary veteran, regardless of his personal abilities, has a reputation built up over half a century that is a huge advantage in itself.

A billionaire and a genius inventor combined—the effect is comparable to an army.

Unfortunately, the more you know, the more you understand awe. This applies to normal people. Obviously, whether it's a superhero or a supervillain, they all have some serious issues. For example, Captain America believes Natasha's words, but he is even more convinced that justice will prevail over evil, and he will fight evil to the end, even if it costs him his life.

It sounds impressive, but the problem is that strength and confidence are not proportional. Before his arrogance awakened, Captain America was like a puppet. No matter how strong his will or how much confidence he had, what was the use? Never giving up is more like a ridiculous joke in the face of an absolute gap in strength.

Tony wasn't much better off. Compared to Natasha's warning, he was more confident that his genius brain could defeat all enemies, and decided to go back and immediately begin building an Iron Man suit specifically designed to counter the Seven Deadly Sins.

Despite her best efforts and exhausting words in trying to make the two men understand the seriousness of the situation, Natasha's efforts were completely in vain. This made her dislike for superheroes' overly distinct personalities and incomprehensible stubbornness for the first time.

“It looks like things aren’t going well.” Coulson stopped typing, looked up at Natasha who had just returned, and said that the glistening sweat on his forehead indicated that he had been working overtime for quite some time.

“Yes, I’m even more pessimistic about the future now.” Natasha pulled out a bottle of vodka from somewhere and downed half of it in one go. With that kind of attitude, give her a PPSh-45 and she’d go head-to-head with Captain America; give her a Katyusha and she’d send Iron Man flying. You can imagine how devastated she must be inside.

"Sigh, Fury's starting to get suspicious. Asking me to submit a summary report is probably just an excuse. I reckon it won't be long before he sends me back for a routine investigation. He's probably already got the truth serum ready," Coulson grumbled, clearly very familiar with his old boss's personality and style.

“It’s alright, Ms. Carter’s secret spell is very effective. Even truth serum can’t make us reveal anything.” Natasha sat on the sofa with a bottle of wine in her hand. Although her posture was still graceful and full of alluring charm, the fatigue in her eyes was undisguised. She looked like a female office worker who had been working overtime until the early hours of the morning, facing unfinished work and harassment from her boss, and she couldn’t choose to quit. She felt like she wanted to destroy the world.

“As Fury always says, as long as the world doesn’t end, things will continue as usual,” Coulson said, continuing to type on the keyboard.

"Oh, right, you have a new mission: to make contact with that big green guy."

Natasha rolled her eyes, downed her vodka in one gulp, and went straight home. Even if the world ended, she wouldn't be allowed to work overtime.

Before dawn, Natasha boarded a plane and set off, while Coulson, who had just finished writing a report late into the night, was sent to New Mexico before he could even rest, because a hammer had fallen from the sky there.

Yan Xu was not kept in the dark about all of this. He knew that with his intervention, the predetermined fate was beginning to move faster.

It's only a matter of time before Earth is completely infiltrated by psionic energy, so Yan Xu has set his sights on Asgard.

As the overlord of the Nine Realms, Asgard holds a very special position. Yan Xu could use this to assimilate the World Tree with his psionic energy, and then try to pull the original body over.

This requires a double agent, or rather, the next God-King, to act as an inside man. Odin's two sons will soon arrive on Earth, and Chaji Thor is clearly not a good choice. Even if he were willing to act as an inside man, Yan Xu wouldn't dare to agree. This guy is truly heartless; he might just agree and then turn around and blow up Asgard.

Loki, who seemed the most suitable, wouldn't work either. He was never one to stay put, and his love for Asgard was the deepest among Odin's family. Using him as an inside man would be too risky.

Fortunately, Odin has a daughter, and he happens to be a man, so isn't that a match made in heaven?

After throwing one of the seven deadly sins into New Mexico, Yan Xu arrived at the place where Odin sealed Hela, the goddess of death.

Odin's seal was nothing to Yan Xu, but it was precisely because he understood it that he realized this old fox was indeed cunning and shrewd.

Unfortunately, man proposes, God disposes. No matter how much he prepared, he could not escape the fate of Ragnarok.

Yan Xu said this because although Hela is known as the Goddess of Death and controls the realm of death, she is only the Goddess of Death of Asgard and only controls the realm of death of Asgard. In other words, she only comes under the control of Asgardians after they die, which is why the Demon King of Hell has not come to attack.

This is precisely the contingency plan left by Odin. If Asgard is destroyed as prophesied, then the realm of the dead controlled by Hela will, in a sense, become another Asgard.

However, Odin could not tell anyone this negative thought, because he was the king of the gods and the ruler of the nine realms. If it were revealed, it would be tantamount to him admitting the existence and inevitability of Ragnarok, at which point the nine realms would definitely be thrown into chaos, and he would face countless challengers.

So Odin found an excuse to make his daughter the goddess of death and seal her away in the realm of the dead. This was his last resort for Asgard.

Odin also harbored a sense of wishful thinking, so he tied the sealing to his own life, leaving the decision to his three children.

For powerful beings like Odin and the Ancient One, physical death is not the end. In fact, even if they were dead, they would still have the ability to interfere with the present world. In other words, as long as Odin is unwilling, Hela cannot come out even if he dies.

Unfortunately, he may have been a good god-king, but not a good father. His way of handling things was also full of brutality and dictatorship, making the three children fight each other like the Three Kingdoms, which gave Yan Xu an opportunity to take advantage of the situation.

Now that the psychic space overlaps with most of the Earth, this seal is no exception. For Yan Xu, entering is not much more difficult than going home, so he took a step forward and arrived in the empty, lonely, and cold land of death.

After entering the Land of Death, Yan Xu could understand why Hela harbored such resentment after escaping; he wouldn't have been much better off in her shoes.

The so-called Kingdom of Death is a small pocket dimension with an extremely harsh environment. Everywhere there are piles of bones like mountains. Dark purple mist surges out like a living thing, entwining the jagged white bones and emitting an eerie glow. The ceaseless wind of death seeps into the marrow and soul, tormenting both the living and the dead.

Unfortunately, Hela is not a true goddess of death. She is an Asgardian and alive, so while the environment here won't harm her, living here is definitely not a pleasant experience.

Not to mention that she was imprisoned for over a thousand years, it would be strange if she didn't harbor resentment. In particular, Odin's policy of allowing officials to set fires while forbidding ordinary people from lighting lamps deeply hurt her, who had made great contributions.
