Chapter 930, August 08.929: 'A Method to Turn the Tide of Battle'
boom!
The revolver in They's hand spat fire as a mass reaction bullet precisely blew the heart out of an oncoming green-skinned orc.
The enormous green body stiffened for a moment, then fell heavily to the ground, its limbs twitching a few times. Its long tongue emerged from its fanged mouth, and it remained motionless.
Without pausing for a moment, the young judge turned and sprinted down the spiral staircase, the alarms blaring from inside the tower mingling with the distant sounds of explosions, creating a symphony of apocalypse.
"You bastard! Take this chop!" A savage roar came from the depths of the arched corridor to the left of Thei.
The judge, dressed in a well-fitting hunting suit, reacted swiftly, stopping abruptly and spinning around, his heels grinding a clean arc across the bullet-strewn ground, the leather sashes fluttering behind him leaving afterimages in the air.
Her senses were incredibly sharp, and her movements were lightning fast, but when she turned the gun around and aimed again, the sensation at her fingertips was not the mechanical feel of a bullet being chambered.
She pulled the trigger, and heard a hollow "click"—the hammer struck a dented primer cartridge weakly.
Her magazine was empty.
"Waaaagh!"
The massive figure of the green-skinned orc burst forth from the darkness, his rusty greatsword whipping up a gust of wind as it slashed down.
In dire straits, Tei did not retreat but advanced. With a flick of her wrist, she raised the slender power rapier. The energy field flashing on the blade emitted a low hum as she met the crushing blow.
This was destined to be a desperate, futile struggle—with the slender blade of this elegant rapier, it was almost impossible to withstand the Greenskin's powerful and frenzied slashes.
However, the expected clang of metal did not occur.
hum!
puff!puff!
Almost simultaneously, two dull, teeth-grinding sounds of flesh being ripped apart rang out.
The green-skinned orc's charge came to an abrupt halt, its massive single eye filled with bewilderment and confusion.
A chainsaw halberd came hurtling through the air from in front of it, piercing its chest with pinpoint accuracy; while from behind, a chainsaw sword, thrown simultaneously and whistling through the air, pierced its back.
Two powerful chainsaws, like two deadly wedges, pinned the ferocious beast to the spot.
Its massive body swayed, then collapsed to its knees with a thud, blood gushing from the pierced wound like a spring.
"You are here."
Tei's tense nerves finally relaxed. She let out a long sigh, looked in front of her, and glanced behind her out of the corner of her eye.
Brother Albion appeared behind her like a silent ghost, while Horatio, clad in armor, stood before her.
"What about the other Black Shield cultivators?" Horatio asked.
“They’re protecting the energy core,” They replied. “The Greenskins are besieging the main reactor, and the Black Shields are holding out for their lives. But even the Emperor’s Death Angels can’t hold out for long under such an intense siege.”
"Are you alright?" Horatio stepped forward, his gaze sweeping over They's slightly disheveled attire.
“No. Give me a hand, Horatio.” Thee walked quickly forward until she was close to Horatio, and she said in a low voice, “Brother Albion has found something that might turn the tide of the battle.”
Horatio reached out and pulled his Holy Blood Chainsaw from the green-skinned corpse, the blood on the blade instantly drained by the strange, bloodthirsty fangs.
Albion effortlessly pulled his chainsaw halberd from a pile of shattered organs with one hand, the movement as fluid as if he were simply drawing an ordinary knife from its sheath.
The two exchanged a glance. This taciturn monk, along with the ancient chainsaw halberd in his hand, always reminded Horatio of an old friend from the depths of his memory. "Your weapon is quite rare," Horatio broke the silence.
“Yes,” Brother Albion replied succinctly as always, “It has been with me for a long time.”
“I remember that back in the Carpathians, you seemed to prefer using a standard tactical short knife.”
"Because those soulless mechanical aliens are not worth my time."
Brother Albion stroked the cold blade of the chainsaw and said slowly, "Once it strikes, it must drink blood. Just like the one in your hand."
The monk's gaze fell on the Holy Blood Chainsaw Sword in Horatio's hand.
Whether by coincidence or not, the chainsaw sword, which had been restless and eager for killing, was now unusually quiet.
"What have you discovered, monk?" Horatio returned to the main topic.
“This is a storage world.” Brother Albion raised his chainsaw halberd, pointing to the endless yellow sand outside the building, and revealed a hidden secret in a low voice, “The reason why there is such a huge energy hub building is because it has its own unique and irreplaceable function.”
“Indeed,” Thee replied, a thoughtful glint in her eyes. “I was wondering what kind of need would lead a planet to have such a massive energy center built inside it.”
"So..." Horatio deduced, "the ground beneath our feet is actually a planetary-level central control center?"
“That’s right.” Brother Albion nodded in confirmation. “This building can manipulate the continental plates for macroscopic adjustments, thereby creating the conditions for transferring the mountains of resources piled up on the surface to the huge storage area underground on the planet.”
"We can separate the green area by plate tectonics!" Horatio suddenly realized.
“That’s what I think too.” A glimmer of hope also ignited in They’s eyes. “If we can control the ground tectonic plates to our advantage, we can completely block their attack route and cut off their retreat.”
"The Greenskins' numerical advantage will be neutralized by us. We can manipulate the entire battle until reinforcements arrive and completely annihilate these divided and surrounded aliens."
“Brother Albion, I believe you have already located the center console.” Horatio’s gaze turned to the silent black statue.
"Yes, but it's not that simple."
Albion's gaze passed over Horatio and landed on the delicate rose knot pendant worn by They on her chest. "We need the highest authority on this planet. Or perhaps, authority higher than that of the planet's governor."
At this moment, the sky above Minerva was completely obscured by thick smoke, and what should have been evening was already as dark as the dead of night.
Henry Harvey sat inside the turbulent Valkyrie transport plane, the violent shaking of the fuselage forcing him to grip the anchor bar tightly beside him.
Due to the fierce battle for air superiority, the Dark Eldar fighters and the Orkkins' aircraft fought fiercely in the clouds, eventually retreating with their remaining forces.
The Imperial Navy's air force was able to seize this valuable tactical window and launch a second wave of troop deployment.
The third action team had to be delayed by several hours compared to the original plan.
The failure to complete the mission on time caused Henry Harvey, who was usually meticulous, a little anxiety.
“Sir, it’s getting dark. Perhaps this is more conducive to our covert operation,” the adjutant beside him tried to reassure him.
“I hope so,” Harvey said in a deep voice. “The commander originally planned to operate during the day because the daylight would provide the aerospace forces with maximum cover for us. But the night… the night has never been an advantage for the Empire.”
