Ultraman: It turns out this is the easy mode.
Chapter 1020 Hmph! Trying to run away?!
Kiranbo clutched the candy in his pocket, his unease growing stronger like a rising tide. Just moments ago there were only a few stray costumes, but now the streets were filled with figures in fluffy coats. There was a "Psyduck" costume holding balloons, a "Doraemon" costume pushing a stroller, and even an "Ultraman" costume squatting by the roadside, handing chocolates to passing "children"—and they were imported dark chocolates, far more refined than the cheap fruit candies in his pocket.
"These bastards are giving away everything!" Kiranbo cursed inwardly as she watched a beautifully packaged toy car slipped into a "kid's" hands by a Kumamon plush toy. She had thought her candy would be attractive enough for children, but now, with others giving chocolates and toys, her candy looked like cheap knockoffs, attracting no attention at all. "Is this how they give candy these days?" she frowned, subconsciously stuffing the bag of candy further inside, a strange anxiety rising within her that her business was about to fail.
But she didn't notice that the "children" were all remarkably uniform in height, and their running posture had a military-like agility—they weren't real children at all, but rather short team members specially recruited by the EDF, their faces painted with blush and wearing wigs, acting incredibly convincingly. When "Kumamon" handed over the toy car earlier, she had already secretly replaced the few candies that Kiranbo had scattered, putting them into a specially made sealed bag, waiting to be disposed of later.
The puppets continued their "performance": the Ultraman puppet pretended to play around with the "children," quietly leading the last few real citizens who were watching to a corner café; the Doraemon puppet pushed a cart, seemingly selling snacks, but actually checking every corner to ensure no irrelevant people had slipped through. Soon, only the puppets, the children, and a few seemingly ordinary vendors remained around Kiranbo; the entire area had been quietly cleared out.
Hiding inside the "Tiga doll," Cui Ming checked the area through the miniature camera and saw that all exits were guarded by team members and all irrelevant personnel had been guided away. He immediately pressed the communicator, his voice as cold as ice: "Make your move."
The moment those two words were uttered, the surrounding "vendors" instantly changed their expressions—the uncle selling cotton candy overturned his stall, revealing an energy cannon underneath; the aunt selling candied hawthorns tore off her apron and pulled out a tranquilizer gun from behind her back; even the "Ultraman puppet" that had just handed chocolate to the "child" suddenly stood up straight, sharp alloy blades popping out of its claws, and surrounded Kiranbo.
Kiranbo realized something was wrong, but it was too late—the energy cannon was already aimed at her, the infrared beam of the tranquilizer gun was flashing on her chest, and the "puppets" and "children" around her had all removed their disguises, revealing the faces of the EDF team members, their weapons all pointed at her.
"You...you're from EDF?!" Kiranbo took a step back in fright, his disguise almost crumbling, and the crystal on his face began to flicker, clearly indicating that he was trying to use teleportation to escape.
"Trying to run? Too late." Cui Ming's "Tiga Puppet" took a step forward, and the hidden compartment on the puppet's chest opened, revealing a space jammer inside. "This thing is specifically designed to counter your teleportation. Today, you either obediently surrender, or you'll taste the power of an energy cannon."
Dan Moroboshi, standing nearby, also removed the "Seven Puppet" headgear, holding an unfolded ice axe in his hand, his eyes filled with murderous intent: "Didn't you like to lure children with candy? Now you know what it's like to be surrounded? Anyone who dares to mess with the children of this world will pay the price."
Looking at the dense array of weapons around him, and glancing at the gleaming ice axe in Dan Moroboshi's hand, Kiranbo finally realized in despair that he was not only no match for these "sugar-giving" people, but had also fallen into a carefully set trap, and that he was probably doomed to perish today.
However, Kiranbo also had her own special abilities, and she began to run away quickly.
Before Kiranbo could recover from the shock of being transformed from a merchant into a soldier, she caught a glimpse of the horizon out of the corner of her eye—a dense barrage of shells, trailing orange-red flames, raining down on her like a storm. In that instant, her face turned deathly pale, then an unnatural green, her pupils shrinking to pinpoints in terror: "Have these humans finally gone mad?! Using such overwhelming firepower right from the start!"
With no time to think, her survival instinct instantly stripped her of her old woman disguise. A pale purple aura of energy erupted from her body, and her cloak in witch form fluttered in the wind. She touched the ground with her toes and darted towards the alleyway beside her like an arrow, leaving a blur in her wake—but the shells behind her gave her no chance to catch her breath. Explosions rang out one after another at her feet, and flying debris and dust pelted down on her, almost knocking her to the ground.
"What the hell do you want?! It's just absorbing some dreams, is it really necessary to go to such lengths?!" Kiranbo roared as she ran, her voice filled with disbelief and panic. In the past, dealing with humans had always been effortless; she could easily manipulate her opponents with disguise and teleportation. But this time, the EDF forces were completely unpredictable—no persuasion, no probing, just a saturation bombardment from the start, practically trying to blow her to pieces!
"Nonsense! The child's nowhere to be found! Kill her!!!"
Upon hearing this, Kiranbo knew that nothing he said would make a difference.
She tried to activate teleportation, but the energy she gathered at her fingertips was shattered by an invisible force—Cui Ming had already ordered the jammer to be activated, specifically to counter her ability. "Damn it, what's going on!" Kiranbo was so angry she almost vomited blood. She could only desperately increase her speed, dodging left and right in the intricate alleyways. The shells behind her were like a persistent thorn in her side, each explosion making her heart tremble.
At the alley entrance, Cui Ming was watching Kiranbo's escape route through his tactical tablet, a cold smile playing on his lips: "Trying to escape? Not so easy. Notify Team Two to set up an energy barrier at the crossroads ahead, don't let her get out!"
A teammate's voice answered the communicator, and soon, a pale blue energy barrier rose at the end of the alley, blocking Kieranbo's path like an invisible wall. Kieranbo's pupils constricted at the sudden appearance of the barrier, and she could only turn abruptly and flee in another direction—but the shells behind her continued relentless pursuit, several even grazing her cloak, the acrid smell of burning filling the air instantly.
