"That's... Cui Ming?!" An alien suddenly stepped back, knocking over the equipment behind him.

The screen shook violently, as if struck by something, then focused on the edge of the rooftop. They watched in disbelief as the last Nackler grabbed the railing, his knuckles white from the effort. But before he could even see which way to escape, an entrenching tool suddenly emerged from the fog and precisely pierced his body.

"No—!" A desperate scream came from the screen, but the sound was quickly replaced by the dragging sound. The camera shook and captured Cui Ming's hand holding the shovel handle, with drops of green blood dripping from between his fingers onto the ground.

What was most chilling was that the camera suddenly changed angle, focusing steadily on the depths of the thick fog. Cui Ming's blood-stained face was faintly visible in the fog; he even tilted his head slightly towards the camera, as if to greet it.

"Ugh—" Some aliens couldn't help but cover their mouths, their stomachs churning. The Catan aliens didn't notice anything amiss, assuming Kotaro was still playing the helpful role, and manipulated the girl to nod: "Yes, it's in the building up ahead." His voice was sickeningly sweet, but a barely perceptible stiffness was revealed at the end of his words.

Kotaro was already about 80% certain. He smiled and ruffled the girl's hair. The moment his palm touched her hair, he clearly felt a strange energy coursing beneath her skin—exactly the same reaction he'd experienced during training when she was possessed by an alien. But he didn't move. Instead, he stood up casually: "I happen to have something to discuss with a colleague. Shall I walk with you for a bit?"

His fingertips rapidly typed an encrypted message on the communicator: [Target anomaly, weak energy response, suspected possession, requesting instructions]. The notification sound of successful transmission was perfectly masked by a cough. When he looked up, his face still wore an impeccable smile, as if the sharp-eyed warrior from moments before had been merely an illusion.
