Ultraman: It turns out this is the easy mode.
Chapter 794 You mean a robot created by an ordinary person created a monster?!
The atmosphere at the Seth team is great; the players get along like family. As long as everyone avoids trouble and doesn't make any serious mistakes, bringing personal belongings over occasionally is perfectly fine.
Moriyama brought a talking parrot this time. The little guy was hopping around in its cage, which was quite amusing. It was just a bit shy, though, and would shrink into a corner of the cage when it saw strangers, especially when it saw Choi Myung.
For example, when Cui Ming passed by the cage, the parrot suddenly flapped its wings and screamed, "Help!!!!!" The shrill sound echoed in the base, startling the team members around it.
"..." Cui Ming stopped and looked down at the ruffled parrot in the cage, raising an eyebrow expressionlessly. He thought that animals were indeed quite alert, but this reaction was a bit excessive.
"What an impolite parrot." Ruya stood to the side with her arms crossed, glancing at the parrot with obvious displeasure. This parrot was far too timid; who cries for help at the sight of people? Why did Ruya say that? Because Ruya knew very well that the parrot had clearly sensed the murderous aura left behind by years of battle on Cui Ming's body—a terrifying aura that instilled instinctive fear in all living beings.
In truth, Cui Ming never had to worry about wild animals in the wilderness. They could sense his presence from a great distance and would immediately turn tail and run, without even the courage to look back. In their perception, he was a walking, ultimate predator, the kind they couldn't possibly defeat. Why wouldn't they run and wait to be "hunted"?
"Captain, I'd like to ask for leave tonight. One of my juniors is back, and we made plans to get together." Kotaro walked over at this moment and somewhat embarrassedly asked Choi Myung for leave.
"Go ahead, but remember to drink less alcohol, you have training tomorrow." Cui Ming waved his hand and readily agreed.
"Yes! Don't worry, Captain!" Kotaro nodded with a smile, feeling relieved. When it came to drinking, no one in the team dared to disobey Choi's orders.
After all, Cui Ming himself only touches alcohol when he needs to perform alcohol disinfection treatment on people; otherwise, he doesn't drink a drop. He sets a good example, so who would dare to make excuses to drink more?
However, Kotaro was unaware that his junior's father was a ruthless man.
Kotaro's junior is named Tatsuo. He himself is nothing special, just an ordinary boy. But his father, Shingo, is indeed astonishingly powerful.
Why do I say that? Because this guy, relying on his self-taught knowledge of mechanics, actually managed to create a robot wife.
It all started 10 years ago. Shingo's wife, Seiko Shimada, was hit by an out-of-control car in an accident and left him forever. The sudden bad news devastated Shingo; he simply couldn't accept the fact that Seiko was gone.
The grief didn't break the man; instead, it fueled a mad idea. To preserve his wife's "existence," Shingo began frantically teaching himself machine manufacturing, artificial intelligence programming, and a whole host of other seemingly unrelated subjects. Those obscure blueprints and complex codes became his only way to express his longing.
Day after day, year after year, after countless nights of working late into the night, Shingo truly succeeded—he created a robot that looked exactly like the Holy Son.
Incidentally, the parrot they raised together, grieving for its owner Seiko so much, refused to eat after her passing and eventually starved itself to death. Shingo, heartbroken for this intelligent little creature, buried it in Seiko's grave, so it could continue to accompany his wife in another world.
In a sense, it's quite abstract. A person, because of his obsession with his wife, actually taught himself to be a master of machine manufacturing and programming from scratch, and even went on to replicate a robot wife. This would be bizarre enough anywhere.
The most abstract thing is that Shingo actually succeeded! The Seiko robot was indeed completely created, from its appearance to its body shape, it was exactly the same as the original Shimada Seiko, even the curve of its mouth was perfectly replicated. However, it is still lying quietly on the laboratory platform, not fully activated. Shingo is still debugging the final program, hoping to give it more lifelike reactions.
If Cui Ming knew about this, he would most likely praise his friend's hands-on skills, which is quite rare. After all, the guy was just making a robot out of sheer determination, without harming the world or provoking anyone. Just the fact that he taught himself and successfully created a finished product is far superior to those guys who only shout slogans.
However, an accident still occurred a few days later.
The Holy Son robot successfully started up, which was undoubtedly a huge success from a technical standpoint. However, problems soon followed. It wasn't that there was a malfunction in the startup itself. Rather, it was because Shingo had been haunted by the car accident that took his wife's life for ten years, and his resentment towards cars had become deeply ingrained. This intense emotion had subtly influenced the robot's programming.
This has led to her developing an extremely strong aversion to cars. So much so that as soon as it started, the Holy Child robot exhibited a bizarre state; she sang in an ethereal and eerie voice like a female ghost, floated onto the road, and began causing a frenzy of car crashes. Out-of-control cars collided, tires screeching against the pavement, creating utter chaos.
Unfortunately, Duff and Kotaro happened to be there together, intending to check on Shingo's research progress. From afar, they saw the chaotic scene on the street and that familiar yet unfamiliar figure weaving through the traffic. Duff, who was still a little drunk and unsteady on his feet, instantly changed his expression upon seeing that figure, and his drunkenness vanished without a trace.
"Mom?!" Duff cried out, his voice filled with shock and disbelief. He couldn't believe his eyes; the robot that was causing chaos had a face exactly like his mother's, yet its insane actions filled him with utter unfamiliarity and fear. Kotaro also frowned, looking at the bizarre scene before him, realizing that things were far more complicated than he had imagined.
As the Holy Son robot looked at the two of them, a strange smile suddenly appeared on its mechanical face.
"Hahahaha!!!!" The laughter was sharp and ethereal, echoing through the chaotic streets and sending chills down people's spines.
"..." Kotaro stared at the bizarre scene before him, paused for a moment, then turned to Duff beside him and asked, "Is your mother a female ghost?"
"Of course not! This guy is weird!" Duff's face turned red with anxiety. He knew his mother was gentle and kind, and could never be acting like this, but he couldn't deny it because of her face. "Then I'll shoot!" Kotaro said, quickly drawing his gun from his waist and aiming it at the still laughing robot.
The Machine Saint's laughter abruptly stopped the moment he saw the gun pointed at him; he immediately turned and ran! His speed was astonishing, and he darted into the nearby alley like a blur, disappearing in an instant.
Kotaro was taken aback, not expecting the robot to be so fast, but he didn't immediately give chase. Some civilians had already been injured, and his junior, Duff, was still nearby. Who knew if this was a diversionary tactic by the enemy? If Duff encountered danger after they left, it would be troublesome.
"This is Kotaro. A robot has gone out of control in the area, and some people have been injured. Assistance is requested!" Kotaro said in a deep voice into the communicator, while vigilantly observing his surroundings.
"Coming soon! Be careful!" came the teammate's reply over the communicator.
"Understood!" Kotaro said, throwing several small capsules towards the corners of the surrounding buildings. As the capsules landed and unfolded, emitting a slight mechanical whirring sound, small turrets quickly took shape, their muzzles aimed at various potential dangers, forming a temporary defensive line. He had to protect the civilians and Duff first, and wait for reinforcements to arrive.
Meanwhile, the Holy Child robot continued its frantic actions. She floated to the Holy Child's grave, her eyes flashing an eerie red light, as if summoning something. Just then, a pale bolt of lightning ripped across the sky, striking precisely around the grave.
The robot extended its mechanical arm and, incredibly, used the power of lightning to draw upon a mysterious energy, injecting it into the soil where the parrot was buried. This operation was utterly absurd; not only did it successfully resurrect the long-dead parrot, but it also caused this ordinary parrot to undergo a frenzied mutation under the distortion of energy, its size rapidly expanding until it finally transformed into a hideous monster!
Thus, the monster Eregia was born! It spread its enormous wings, enabling it to fly freely at Mach 9 high in the sky, its sharp claws gleaming coldly. It would use its hard head to launch high-speed dives and ram into targets on the ground, the impact enough to shatter solid buildings. Furthermore, it could spew flames of tens of thousands of degrees Celsius from its mouth, leaving a scorched wasteland in its wake.
This is absolutely outrageous! A robot created by a human out of sheer willpower can actually control the power of lightning to resurrect dead creatures and even twist them into monsters with incredible destructive power! This is something that not only Earthlings can't understand, but even well-informed extraterrestrials would be completely baffled by it; it's beyond the realm of conventional understanding.
Alien: "You're saying someone created monsters? That's nothing, there are plenty of people in the universe who create monsters using technology. Wait! What did you say?! An ordinary human, without any interstellar technology training, just learned from books and managed to create a robot? And this robot can even summon lightning to resurrect dead animals, turning a parrot into a fire-breathing monster?!"
"Do you even want to hear what you're saying?!"
"Holy crap! Are you guys crazy or am I?! Building robots is one thing, but resurrecting living beings? And turning pets into monsters? This technology is more advanced than our interstellar warship engines!"
It's no wonder the aliens were so flustered; this whole thing is just too mind-blowing.
What ordinary person could possibly do something this absurd?! Shouldn't ordinary humans consult the instruction manual even when changing a light bulb? This operation is beyond the comprehension of extraterrestrials; even their databases would crash because of this ridiculous setting!
In short, Shingo is truly an amazing person! He can create robots solely through self-study and indirectly give birth to monsters. This operation has simply broken the boundaries of common sense.
The problem now is that the monster resurrected by the Holy Son robot is going to wreak havoc in the city. The scene of the car accident on the road hasn't been cleaned up yet, and if the monster is allowed to run rampant again, the consequences will be unimaginable.
"Kotaro, reinforcements have arrived. Where's the monster?" Cui Ming arrived in the Yukikaze and came to a steady stop next to Kotaro. He peeked out but didn't see any sign of the monster, and his brows furrowed.
"Captain, I don't know. The monster just flashed by and disappeared." Kotaro looked helpless. He had just set up the defense when he turned around and found that the monster had vanished.
"Tsk, troublesome," Cui Ming clicked his tongue, his sharp eyes scanning his surroundings, his powerful aura unconsciously emanating from him.
Have you found traces of the monster? It seems like the monster has escaped? However, the truth is not so simple.
It wasn't that the monster was particularly clever and anticipated the situation to retreat; rather, it was that the monster was scared away by Cui Ming!
The main reason was that the mere presence of Cui Ming, with his seasoned and powerful aura, was terrifying enough. Although Eregia had only recently been resurrected and still carried the brunt of its newfound ferocity, its beastly instincts gave it a keen sense of danger. Faced with someone like Cui Ming, whose intense killing intent could be felt from afar, it had only one thought:
Crack an egg! Run!!!
Without daring to linger for even a moment, it flapped its wings and fled with all its might, not even daring to look back. In its instinctive perception, the man before it was more than ten times more terrifying than the threat it had encountered when it created the chaos earlier; not running meant certain death.
"Forget it, let's go back if we can't find it," Cui Ming said to Kotaro after looking around and finding no trace of the monster.
"I understand, Captain. By the way, Captain, you're really fast! Less than 3 minutes!" Kotaro said with some surprise. The speed of the support was indeed impressive.
"Nonsense, I think it's too slow," Cui Ming said with a sneer. "Alright, as long as you're all safe, I'll patrol a bit more and see if I can run into that guy. You wait for the doctor to arrive and clean up the scene, then I'll take you back."
Cui Ming then piloted the Yukikaze to continue patrolling the surrounding area, hoping to find traces of the monster.
They didn't find the monster, but they saw quite a few aliens along the way. However, these aliens were quite well-behaved; some were carefully selecting Earth specialties at roadside stalls, while others sat in taverns chatting and drinking with human owners, seemingly living normal lives and showing no signs of causing trouble. Cui Ming glanced at them but didn't disturb them, continuing his focused search for the monster's trail. (End of Chapter)
