Chapter 860 The Curtain Comes to an End
The next second, the piercing sound of machinery came from all directions.
Dorobon looked up sharply and saw countless palm-sized drones suddenly unfurl their wings, revealing gleaming metallic turrets beneath their fuselages, on the steel frame of the factory roof, in the piles of rubble on the ground, and even on the tops of streetlights in the distance. These drones circled and ascended in unison, forming a huge encirclement that firmly surrounded Dorobon and Cui Ming at the center.
With a unified buzzing sound, all the drone turrets simultaneously aimed at Dorobon, their muzzles flashing a blinding red light. Before Dorobon could react, a barrage of energy projectiles rained down upon it like a torrential downpour.
"What is that?!" Dorobon was terrified and instinctively tried to attack, but it was quickly overwhelmed by various attacks, causing it to cover its head and retreat repeatedly, haphazardly defending itself with its spiked club.
The drone attacks were too dense. The energy blasts hit the spiked club, sparking bursts of sparks. The huge impact made its arm numb, and the spiked club, which was already cracked, was now covered with spider web-like patterns.
Jack stood there with his arms folded, without any worry on his face - he had long known that Cui Ming carried emergency weapons with him, and it would be useless for Doroboon to take anyone as a hostage, but he caught Cui Ming, which was simply asking for his own death. He even took two steps back to avoid being affected by the aftermath of the battle. He also signed an Ultra signature and sent a message to Taylor: "Come to the abandoned factory area. There is a spaceman with no eyesight. He has captured Cui Ming as a hostage and is being beaten by a drone."
As Dorobon was being bombed, Cui Ming jumped out of the attack range and landed steadily on the ground. He dusted himself off and looked at Dorobon being chased and attacked by drones, a mocking smile curving his lips.
He spoke calmly into the communicator on his wrist: "Leave him alive, break his limbs."
After receiving the order, the drones slightly reduced their attack intensity, but still left Dorobon completely defenseless. While dodging the attacks, Dorobon inwardly groaned: What on earth is going on?! How can this human be so powerful?! And where did these flying metal lumps come from?! If I had known Earth was this dangerous, I would never have tried to steal Taro's timer!
It was now filled with remorse, but it was too late for regrets—the drones' encirclement was getting smaller and smaller, and energy blasts kept falling around it, blasting the ground into craters. Its red body was also covered with many charred wounds, and even its breathing became rapid.
Seeing Dorobon forced into retreat by the drones, his wounds multiplying and his movements noticeably slowing, Cui Ming knew the time was right. He took a step forward, his voice steady and powerful, carrying an unquestionable sense of command: "Grab him, and... this guy's spiked club is pretty good, the material looks like a rare cosmic metal, take it back and study it."
As soon as the words left his mouth, the sound of orderly footsteps echoed from behind the cover surrounding the abandoned factory. A sergeant, leading several EDF members, emerged quickly, carrying specially made tranquilizer guns, their muzzles fixed firmly on Dorobon, their eyes sharp as eagles. One of the members leaned closer to the sergeant, lowering his voice to confirm, "Is everything alright? Storm One? This guy's tough as nails; ordinary tranquilizer grenades probably won't work." The sergeant glanced at the still struggling Dorobon, a cold smile playing on his lips. "No problem, use the enhanced tranquilizer grenades. The dose will keep it asleep for three days and three nights." He gestured, and the members immediately and instinctively spread out, forming a second encirclement, completely blocking Dorobon's escape route.
"Alright! Prepare to fire!" With the sergeant's order, a barrage of gunfire erupted instantly—"Rat-a-tat-tat!!!" One after another, tranquilizer darts, glowing with a pale blue light, shot towards Dorobon like meteors. These tranquilizer darts were not only filled with a potent anesthetic, but their projectiles also carried a weak electric current, which could temporarily paralyze the target's nerves, rendering them incapable of resistance.
Dorobone had just dodged a barrage of energy blasts from drones when it was struck by several tranquilizer darts. At first, it didn't think much of it, but within seconds, a strong wave of dizziness washed over it. Its eyelids began to droop uncontrollably, and its body felt heavy. It tried to raise its spiked club to fight back, but found that its arms were too weak to support it, barely managing to keep from collapsing.
But the drone attacks didn't stop; energy blasts continued to rain down around it, the sparks and pain repeatedly jolting it awake from its daze. Dorobon shook its groggy head, looking at the EDF team members surrounding it and the drones circling overhead, feeling only endless despair and rage: "The target isn't asleep yet! Keep firing!" The sergeant's voice rang out again, and another round of tranquilizer blasts came hurtling towards it.
"You beast!" Dorobon let out a hoarse roar with its last bit of strength. In all its long life and countless battles, it had never seen such a "beast" creature—first crippling it with drones, then bombarding it with tranquilizer grenades in turn, neither letting it faint nor resist, it had the word "torture" engraved in its very bones.
In an abandoned building some distance from the factory, several aliens who had been secretly observing the scene fell silent. They had initially hoped Dorobon could cause some trouble for the EDF, but they hadn't expected the EDF to be so ruthless towards an alien. After a long while, one of the aliens lowered his voice and muttered with lingering fear, "Beasts! These EDF guys are even more beastly than before! Luckily we didn't act impulsively, or we'd be the ones getting ganged up on now!"
The other aliens nodded in agreement, watching the EDF members approach Dorobon step by step. They dared not linger any longer, quietly putting away their equipment and disappearing into the shadows—they didn't want to be targeted by Cui Ming and the EDF, after all, Dorobon's fate was the best warning.
At this moment, Dorobon finally succumbed to the effects of the anesthetic, his body went limp, and he collapsed heavily to the ground. The spiked club slipped from his hand with a loud clang. The sergeant stepped forward and kicked his body to confirm that he was completely unconscious, then reported into the communicator: "Storm One reporting, target captured, spiked club retrieved, requesting further instructions!"
Cui Ming walked to Dorobon's side, glanced down at the alien who had been so arrogant just moments before but was now utterly powerless, and said calmly, "Take him back to the base's interrogation room. Send the spiked club to the research and development department. Also, tell Jack he can go back; he's done here." With that, he turned and walked towards the base, leaving his team to handle the aftermath—a farce caused by Dorobon had thus come to an end. (End of Chapter)
