Chapter 271 Supporting the Western Plan
The existence of the Pure Land has threatened the cycle of heaven and earth.

Therefore, the Heavenly Dao needs someone to appear, establish the underworld, level all the pure lands, and establish a new order, so that ghosts can enter the six reincarnations and complete the cycle of life and death.

The City God system established by Ao Bing undoubtedly perfectly fits this destiny.

Therefore, the moment he appeared in the netherworld, he immediately received this destiny and was once again entrusted with the important task by heaven to establish the underworld in the netherworld.

"No wonder Buddhism and Taoism flourished in later generations. It turns out that they inherited the destiny of the netherworld."

Suddenly, Ao Bing realized the reason why Buddhism and Taoism would flourish in the next kalpa. All the Taoist traditions in the prehistoric world needed a reason to flourish, which could not be explained by the partiality of heaven.

Even the immortal way was able to flourish because the Taoist ancestor preached the Tao all over the world. If Buddhism and Taoism had not made any contribution, how could they have flourished?
Besides, the Way of Heaven is impartial, so how could it favor a certain sect for no reason?

Even if the two saints in the West owed a debt to the Heavenly Dao, it was the same. It was impossible to open the door to convenience and give them all the benefits just to help them fulfill their ambitions.

If this is the case, how can the Way of Heaven be called impartial? The most that the Way of Heaven can do is to give the West some conveniences, but whether they can flourish or not depends on themselves.

Otherwise, if one could gain the favor of heaven and have the door opened wide for one just by making a great wish, then all the cultivators in the ancient times would have made great wishes.

The reason why Buddhism and Taoism were able to flourish was not because of the favoritism of heaven, but because they fulfilled the destiny of heaven.

The underworld was established in the netherworld, and the eighteen levels of hell were constructed so that ghosts had a place to go and no longer lingered in the pure land of the netherworld.

After the establishment of the underworld, the netherworld has order and is no longer chaotic. As a result, the living soil of the Pure Land will be greatly reduced, and it will continue to decline until it is destroyed.

After death, their souls will be taken to the netherworld by ghost messengers, and their destination will be determined based on their good and evil deeds and the amount of merits and virtues they had in their lifetime.

Those who have great merits can become gods right away, no longer having to suffer reincarnation. Those who do good deeds will be reborn into a wealthy family, or become a king, a prince, or a general in their next life.

Those who are neither good nor evil will continue to be reborn as ordinary people in the next life and work hard all their lives.

Those who do evil will first go to the eighteen levels of hell to be punished. After the punishment is over, they will be sent to the animal realm and work like cows or horses in the next life.

Of course, this is the complete underworld, the product of the confluence of Taoism and Buddhism.

The underworld originally established by Buddhism and Taoism was definitely not like this. Many things were just prototypes or were not shown at all.

But no matter what, the underworld established by Buddhism and Taoism must be in line with the will of heaven, promote the great cycle of heaven and earth, and have great contributions to the ancient times.

In addition, the West was poor, and the Heavenly Dao had always intended to support the West, so there was the destiny of the West to prosper in the next catastrophe.

It can be said that if Buddhism had not established the underworld in the netherworld and proposed the concept of the eighteen levels of hell, the West would still flourish, but it is not known how long it would take.

Even if the West flourishes, it may not necessarily be related to Buddhism.

Don't forget that the West has not only Buddhism but also magic. Buddhism can make the West flourish, and so can magic.

"Does this count as me intercepting an opportunity for Western Buddhism?"

Coming back to his senses, Ao Bing couldn't help but laugh. Now that he had come to the netherworld and established the City God system, which was a subordinate organization of the netherworld, then the netherworld naturally had nothing to do with the Western Buddhism and Taoism, so it could only be established by him.

Moreover, because he possessed the memories of later generations, the underworld he established must have been extremely perfect, and would not give Buddhism any chance to be further improved.

In other words, the establishment of the underworld and the eighteen levels of hell have nothing to do with Buddhism anymore. In the future, if the West wants to flourish, it can only look for other opportunities.

However, Ao Bing always felt that something was wrong. Heaven did not care whether Buddhism could flourish, but it did care whether the West could flourish.

In order to restore the West, Heavenly Dao even allowed two saints to be born in the West even though the Western ancestral veins were destroyed. This shows how much Heavenly Dao values the West.

In this case, if Ao Bing took away the opportunity of Buddhism, it would be nothing, and the Heavenly Dao would not care. But if he took away the opportunity that would make the West flourish, the Heavenly Dao would definitely make trouble for him.

It is not certain what will happen to him, but it is estimated that he will contribute to the revival of the West.

"Today I have taken away the future opportunities of Buddhism and ruined the opportunity for the great prosperity of the West. If the West cannot be revived because of this, the Heavenly Dao will definitely come to trouble me."

"If you think so, we must speed up the process of opening up the trade routes between the East and the West."

"Only by opening up the trade routes between the two sides can we allow monks from the East to go to the West to support its construction and contribute to its revival."

After thinking about it, Ao Bing came up with an idea. He was not afraid of the revenge of the Buddha. For things like merit, whoever achieved it first would get it. The Buddha was one step behind him, so he could only blame himself for his incompetence. Why should he blame him?

Besides, even if the Buddha and Dao really wanted to blame him, so what? He had the backing of the Immortal Dao, so even if he took away the Buddha and Dao's opportunity, it would not matter. He was not afraid of the Buddha and Dao at all.

Ao Bing was only afraid of Heaven from the beginning to the end. However, Heaven only cared about whether the West could prosper, not who led the prosperity of the West.

He only looks at the results, not the process. As long as the results are good, it's fine. It doesn't necessarily have to be Western saints who lead the rise of the West. It can be done by outsiders as well.

In this case, Ao Bing only needs to satisfy Heavenly Dao.

Isn't it just about making the West flourish? There are many ways to do it. There are just too many monks in the East, so we can send some of them to the West to build it, or to sort out the earth veins, or to evolve into a paradise, or to turn into stars...

In short, because of the existence of the earth immortal lineage, the prehistoric world has no shortage of methods to derive spiritual veins and create blessed lands.

Allowing Eastern monks to go to the West to practice the earthly immortal lineage can not only relieve the pressure in the East, but also promote the development of the West. It can be said to be the best of both worlds.

As for whether the monks from the East are willing to go, they are definitely willing to go.

After all, going to the West to derive earth veins, create blessed places, evolve stars... starting from the root and improving the Western practice environment is not a free help, and there are merits to be gained.

Although there are merits to be gained by doing this in the East, they are not as much as those gained in the West.

The environment for cultivation in the East is excellent and resources are abundant. Even if you derive earth veins, you won't get much merit because the effect is too small.

But the West is barren, and every time a vein is added, the surrounding environment will undergo visible changes, benefiting countless lives. Therefore, the merits gained from deriving veins in the West are far greater than those in the East.

This alone was enough for many immortals to go to the West to support it. After all, no one would think that merits were too expensive. As for why no one went to support the West before and turned a blind eye to this benefit, it was not because they did not see it, but because there was no need.

Although the East was rich before, it was only rich compared to the West. And because there were too many monks, the resources were not as abundant as rumored and were also very tight.

Therefore, the benefits of deriving earth veins and spiritual veins in the East are almost the same as those of deriving earth veins and spiritual veins in the West.

Since the gap is not that big, there is no need for the Eastern monks to give up the good environment and go to the barren West to eat dirt.

But this was before, the accident happened after the restoration of the starry sky. With the restoration of the starry sky, although both the East and the West are getting better, the East, where the ancestral veins are still there, is undoubtedly getting better much faster than the West.

The gap between the two sides not only did not narrow due to the recovery of the starry sky, but instead became larger and larger, heading towards the separation between immortals and mortals.

In addition, not long after the starry sky was restored, the ancestral vein of the ancient world was revived because of Ao Bing. The birth of the Fairy River and the reappearance of Tongtian Lake made the cultivation environment in the East better and better.

This has led to increasingly higher demands in the East for improving the environment for practice.

In the past, one could gain a lot of merit by developing one spiritual vein, but now, one has to develop three or four to gain the equivalent of merit from one previous one.

Moreover, this gap is not fixed, but is constantly expanding as the practice environment in the East becomes better and better.

In the past, if you contributed one part, you could get merit, but now you have to contribute three or four parts, and in the future you will even have to contribute ten parts. The difficulty has increased so much all of a sudden, and naturally some monks cannot accept it.

It was fine for monks with backgrounds, they didn't need to earn this merit, but it was miserable for monks without backgrounds. Without this merit, they had no hope of breaking through to a higher realm.

What’s even more exaggerated is that as the environment for cultivation improves, there will be more and more cultivators without backgrounds, not fewer and fewer.

In any industry, as long as there are too many people, there will be internal competition. If you don't do it, there are plenty of people who will.

Under the high-intensity internal competition, some people will definitely not be able to bear it and look for other ways out. At this time, going to support the West is undoubtedly the best choice.

Although the West is poor, it is not inward-looking, and it is easier to gain merit than the East. In the face of merit, poverty is nothing.

The cultivation environment is bad, as long as the merits are great. As a monk, you risk your life to make money. As long as the benefits are great enough, you will take any risk.

This is the method that Ao Bing came up with with reference to later generations to strengthen the West. Who stipulated that the people who make the West flourish must be Westerners? Easterners can do it too.

They are all part of the primitive world, there is no need to distinguish them so clearly, the East and the West are the same. Buddhism can make the West flourish, and the same is true for immortals.

From the very beginning, Ao Bing felt that the ideas of the Eastern strongmen were too conservative. There was no need to blockade the West, let alone guard against it strictly.

We must show the broad mind of a strong man, the demeanor of a great power, and the responsibility that the descendants of Pangu should have. How can we remain indifferent when we see the poverty in the West?
We should have the courage to take responsibility, take the initiative to contribute manpower and manpower to help the West grow stronger. After all, the West was also created by the great god Pangu, and it also belongs to them, the descendants of Pangu.

As for the fact that in the process of helping the West, the West was gradually assimilated by the East and became a vassal of the East, it was all because the Western people were more enthusiastic and were happy to welcome the descendants of Pangu, the savior.

The two saints of the West should also be happy about this. After all, the West is their birthplace. Seeing that their birthplace is getting better and better, even if it is out of their control, they should be happy, right?

Not to mention, the prosperity of the West was what they had always dreamed of, and the Eastern monks took the initiative to help them achieve this and secure their holy position.

This favor was simply too great. The two Western saints not only had to warmly welcome the Eastern monks, but also entertain them warmly, leaving them with tears of emotion.

Even if their Taoist lineage was severely damaged or even destroyed by Eastern monks, it would be a small matter compared to the rise of the West.

After all, the West is not only the base camp of the Western religion, but also the base camp of the Demonic Path. While governing the West and killing the remnants of the Demonic Path, it is inevitable that fellow Taoists from the Western religion will be accidentally injured.

It’s because the two religions are so similar, especially the monks of the magic sect, who like to pretend to be disciples of the Western religion the most.

They themselves might not be able to tell the difference, let alone the Eastern monks who came from afar. It is normal for them to fail to tell the difference and cause accidental injuries.

"Just do it. As long as the West can flourish, we will have given an account to Heaven and there is no need to worry about Him settling the score later."

"And if the West can really prosper because of this, it will be a great thing for me, and I can gain immeasurable merit. And the most important thing is that if this method succeeds, the West will inevitably become a vassal of the East, or even a part of it.

"In this way, the foundation of the Western Church will be gone, and the strength of the two Western saints will be greatly reduced, and the threat to me will be greatly reduced."

"At the same time, they will owe me a big debt and won't dare to attack me easily."

"And solving the great threat of the West in one fell swoop is also a great achievement for the East. It can bring me many benefits and make me the supreme immortal."

Ao Bing deduced it over and over again and felt that his plan was indeed feasible.

It was hard to say whether he could do it or not, but as long as he could do it, it would definitely bring him huge benefits. In this case, there was no reason for him not to do it.

Anyway, it doesn't take much effort to implement this plan, just go with the flow. After all, what Ao Bing thinks is the trend of the times.

Even if he did not take the initiative to propose this plan, with the development of the times, those Eastern monks who have no way out will take the initiative to go to the West to fight for a future.

The result is this. Whether he does it or not, in the future a large number of Eastern monks will flock to the West to develop this place.

The difference between the two is that if this matter is guided by Ao Bing, then once the West is revived, he will be able to gain immeasurable merits and many benefits.

On the contrary, if this matter was a spontaneous initiative of the Eastern monks, then no matter how great the benefits brought about by the revival of the West were, it would have nothing to do with Ao Bing.

With just a little guidance, one can expect to gain infinite merits. This is a sure win no matter how you look at it. Even if it requires some energy to be devoted to it, it is worth it. Ao Bing has no reason to refuse.

Moreover, although he has many plans and they sound very impressive, it is still unclear whether they can be accomplished in the end.

That is why we need to place multiple bets and prepare multiple paths. This way, if only one of them succeeds, we will have no worries about the future.

This is what all the powerful people in the ancient times did.

 Happy Mid-autumn Festival!
Also, remember to check the mooncakes when you eat them. Damn, my stomach felt uncomfortable not long after I ate them.
