Hogwarts: Voldemort, don't stop me from studying
Chapter 1008 Sunrise
Chapter 1008 Sunrise
When Wade opened his eyes again, he felt as if the deep-seated fatigue in his body had been dispelled.
The dark blue velvet curtains were not fully drawn, and through the gaps, one could see that the night outside was still thick and dark.
The bright morning star hung in the dark sky, indicating that sunrise was still two or three hours away.
Wade rubbed his eyes.
He was a little groggy from sleeping, and it took him a while to realize that he had slept from yesterday morning until the early hours of this morning.
At this moment, he was neither in a shabby hotel in America nor on a buzzing airplane.
He lay in his dormitory room, the bed still soft, the air as still as before. The room was warm, with bronze and blue curtains hanging loosely, and the bookshelves were full of books, arranged almost exactly as when he last left.
The wardrobe space stood quietly in the shadows at the foot of the bed, like a silent guardian. Wade realized he couldn't even remember unfolding it before going to sleep.
The room was unbelievably spotless, clearly meticulously cleaned by a house-elf. Even shortly after he woke up, a tray appeared on the bedside table—
A large glass of steaming hot milk, golden-brown toast, fried bacon and eggs, and a bowl of oatmeal sprinkled with cinnamon.
These aren't dishes you see every day on the Hogwarts menu, but they are definitely things Wade likes.
Wade smiled and said softly, "Thank you... Is it Zoe, Phil, or Happy?"
No sooner had the words been spoken than a series of soft "snap" sounds rang out in the air!
The three house-elves appeared almost simultaneously, their big eyes brimming with excitement.
“It was us! We prepared it together!” Happy exclaimed eagerly. “We made Mr. Gray’s favorite flavor!”
“Wade Gray is back!” Zoe called out softly, stamping her feet excitedly. “Zoe is so happy!”
“That’s great…that’s really great…” Phil said softly, twisting the edge of the tea towel between his fingers, his eyes moist.
Seeing their almost spinning-around-the-spot joy, Wade opened his arms and said with a teasing tone:
"It's been so long since we last met... Can I ask for a reunion hug?"
These words stunned the little elves, their eyes first showing astonishment, then a more intense emotion welling up within them.
The next second—
"Oh!"
The three little ones bumped into Wade's arms almost at the same time, then stopped abruptly as they got close, gave him a careful hug, and then their faces turned red as if they had been burned.
They looked as if they were about to burst into flames.
With a soft scream, the little elves vanished without a trace.
Wade paused for a second with his arms outstretched, then chuckled and slowly lowered his arms.
"What's wrong? What's wrong?" Viser rushed out of the wardrobe space in a panic. "Why do I hear someone screaming?"
His gaze quickly swept across every corner of the room.
“It’s nothing.” Wade looked at the face that looked exactly like his own and said, “It’s just that Zoe and the others came by.”
Viser breathed a sigh of relief: "Those house-elves? I've hardly ever encountered them... They only clean the room when I'm out."
He then turned to Wade, his eyes crinkling, and said, "Welcome back, Master."
His expression was very similar to Wade's when he smiled. But the next second, a troubled look appeared on his face: "But to be honest, being human is really hard—especially dealing with all kinds of social interactions, it's too troublesome! Being a puppet is much more comfortable."
He muttered under his breath about many of the most dangerous moments he had ever experienced, as if the past few months of human life had been a torment he could not bear to recall.
Wade: "..."
He didn't want to discuss the comfort levels of humans and puppets, so he got up and headed to the restroom. After tidying up and changing into his school uniform, Wade sat down at the table, picked up his breakfast, and said:
"Tell me, what happened at school while I was away? Is there anything I should be especially careful about?"
Viser immediately sat up straight, took a thick notebook from the bookshelf, and said, "I've written everything down here, including all the activities from yesterday."
Wade ate his toast while flipping through the records page by page.
He's been elusive for years. Since the professors allowed Vader to arrange his own classes, even his Ravenclaw classmates rarely see him, let alone anyone else.
So when playing him, Viser simply didn't go to class at all—because attending classes with classmates would easily expose the fact that he didn't have magic.
His presence was controlled by a few key points—
Every day, Viser would appear at the long table in the auditorium at irregular intervals. He would arrive early for breakfast and late for dinner, leaving right after eating. Almost no one could find a chance to talk to him.
For lunch, Visser would go with Michael, whose witty and talkative friend naturally took on the task of dealing with everyone else, while Visser only needed to chime in occasionally.
In fact, most of the time, as long as he makes a slightly furrowed brow in deep thought, people will think that he is pondering a century-old problem in alchemy, and they will even feel guilty about greeting him.
In addition, Viser will attend some group events, such as Quidditch matches or Halloween dinners.
He was a clever puppet and possessed many of Vader's memories of school life, so he handled the situation with ease and did not reveal any flaws.
Dumbledore had obviously spoken to the professors at the school beforehand, and no one came to him about "Wade's" complete absence from class. On the contrary, several professors had given "Wade" a few notebooks and told him to "take a look when he had time."
Furthermore, during the months that Wade was away, Hogwarts was extremely peaceful, even more so than during the same period in the original story. No one broke in, no one was seriously injured, and no Ministry of Magic officials caused trouble at the school.
……
As he finished the last sip of milk, Wade also finished reviewing his notes.
She raised her eyes, looked at the puppet waiting quietly beside her, and said softly, "Thank you for your hard work, Viser. I'm so grateful to have you with me these past few days."
"Haha, don't be so polite," Viser said happily. "By the way, why don't you take another day off today? I can continue to cover for you, and I guarantee no one will notice!"
A slight smile appeared on Wade's lips: "Aren't you afraid of hard work?"
Viser stood up, bowed slightly, raised his eyebrows, and smiled, "My complaints were just to make you laugh. Sharing your burdens is the meaning of my existence, no matter what."
“Thank you for your kindness, Viser.” Wade smiled and shook his head slightly, “But… no need.”
He gazed at the familiar yet somewhat unfamiliar scenery outside the window and said softly, "After being away for so long, I also want to see my long-lost school... and my friends."
“Understood.” Viser nodded, and said in a relaxed tone, “Well then, have a nice day, Master.”
